We had goose soup to start, which was light and tasty. For entree, I had the local deer meat, fried, with a mushroon sauce. It came with cabbage and star shaped fried potatoes. As the story unfolds, as told in the english menu, this Brodhaus was built for a baker by the local churches. The baker could live in and use this house to bake his bread for sale to whom ever wanted to purchase them. There was only one condition, he had to make all the wafers for all the local churches. What a sweet deal. Today the Brodhaus is restaurant and owned by the local brewery, Einbecker. (kind of like a McMenamins brew pub but much older.) Ok, I have to go by memory on this because for some reason I did not take notes. Yes the beer was really good. I order the seafood mix and it came in a creamy type sauce. with patatos. It's cavernous but cozy if that's possible and absolutely gorgeous. It's located downstairs in one of the many beautiful old building in "downtown" or center square Goettigen. The potatoes were what you would expect in Germany. And the ham was delicate. We split a warm strudel which was memorable. Upscale but not flashy or super trendy. Just a fine, solid place.
