There are a ton of cafes in the Villingen centre, but not too many actual restaurants. We had…read morewandered around for a while and settled on Gasthaus zum Lowen. "A-ok" definitely sums it up. Hubs was lukewarm on his meal - I had a cordon blu schnitzel that was above average but a little greasy. My side was potato fritters that had very clearly come out of a food service freezer bag. Both were just fine; good, but nothing extraordinary. Mine came with spaetzle-like noodles which were good with the gravy from my entree. Service was attentive, but the place was almost empty. I'm guessing that in this town, they are about average. After walking around a while, you have to pick something. You could probably do much worse. Bone up on your Duetch Anglo-American types. English is not a second language at this place. No complaints.
