My experience with Cesar was terrible. I asked for a dish washer installation along with replacing a kitchen valve. I would've given a 1 star if it wasn't for the valve, which was done correctly. It was clear that Cesar has not installed a dish washer before. He had no idea how to mount the dishwasher to the counter cutout. He attempted to install the mounting bracket without reading the instructions, and ended up bending & breaking both brackets. Needless to say, I wasn't happy with it. He then promised me he'll come back the following week with the right replacement parts. And I've never heard from him since. The worst part is before he left, he tried to make me pay $200 for the dishwasher installation(on top of a $150 minimum charge for the valve replacement), which I refused. Gary was great! We broke a pipe in the irrigation system in our front yard on a Sunday afternoon and the city came out and shut our water off completely to stop the gushing water. When we had the mother of all toilet clogs, I, of course, turned to Yelp. I looked for the companies with the most reviews and also the most positive reviews. We're lucky we found Gary's Guaranteed Plumbing and Rooter. First of all, he was one of the few companies that answered after business hours (5 pm). Second, even when one of the other highly rated companies answered, he asked a few simple questions that seemed to gauge the complexity of the problem and actually suggested we call Gary instead! Finally, although it wasn't an emergency since we had another toilet, Gary said they would come the next day but happily come the same day if there was a technician in the area even though it really wasn't an emergency. As it turns out the toilet clog was not a simple one. Despite cleaning out the sink pipes, the tub pipes, and even the toilet pipe, the clog still persisted. I was beginning to worry that it might not be easily and non-invasively fixed. Lucky for us was that the technician sent out (Lee) was not only persistent, but made multiple visits and even went on the roof to try to determine a fix that wouldn't involve removing pipes. In the end, he was able to fix the clog, likely due to a toy or item that probably had been lost down a toilet way before my time and had probably been years in the making with hair and toilet paper til the damn literally broke. Best part, although the clog was probably 10x as hard as their typical service visits and necessitated more than one visit, we were charged the same rate. And when the caulking needed another day to dry after they replaced the toilet, Lee returned for one final time to make sure everything was cleaned and restored to the original condition. Clearly, Lee and Gary's care about the quality of work and the result. I have no doubt another company would have either given up or simply started ratcheting the rates up when they saw this wasn't going to be a 20 minute job that they could knock out before dinner time. I called these guys because of the great reviews on Yelp but had a horrible experience. I needed a waterline for a new refrigerator put in. Another company quoted $109 but were not available for several days. I went with Gary's even though they quoted $150 as the minimum for coming out because they were available immediately. Here was my experience: 1) They came out and ended up breaking the connection coming from the wall under my sink. 2) Without asking, they then proceeded to cut a huge hole under my sink to replace the piping and fixture that they broke. 3) They finished the job and ended up charging me $425 because they had to fix the connection THAT THEY BROKE. I didn't even know companies could do that. 4) They left the huge hole in the wall under my sink, with cold air rushing in from under the house & said, "oh, no we don't fix that." I wanted to cry at this point. Ended up calling a wonderful handyman to come fix it (another $80). He was appalled that a) they broke the fixture & b) they actually charged me for it. I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Maybe they are good at unclogging drains but keep them away from your pipes. read more

We called the place that had installed the original heater for replacement, they came the next morning and gave us an outrageous quote that involved a lot of work we hadn't expected. We then looked up Gary's and he answered the phone right away and told us someone would be on their way. A few minutes later George called and said he was on his way. He was very friendly, came right in and inspected everything, gave us a reasonable quote and got right to work. The Yelp reviews are true. These guys are great. We've had them out to the house twice now, for different problems. They always do a thorough job and will be honest about what is and isn't worth the cost of repairing (and will give you ideas for cheaper alternatives). Recently, we had a leaky bathtub faucet that turned out to be a lot more complicated than it should have been. Ed diagnosed the issue, then spent the next 5 hours on it, including going back-and-forth to the plumbing specialty store two times. He was cheerful the whole time and even educated me on what he was doing and why. The time before, we had a slow drain in a sink, and a toilet that needed to be augured. I would give them 5 starts because service was in fact awesome but I really can't consider their price competitive in any way. Sometime, however, you do have to choose between good service and price. I used Roto Rooter on the week ends before to snake a clog thought the roof and it was 1 person and around $300. Gery's Rooter for some reason brings in 2 people and ends up being $500. I find it really high for pre scheduled Monday appointment. However , we went with them since Roto Rooter could not even bother to show up and since reviews are good. I really likes how responsive this company is. My plumbing failed at the end of the wedding on Saturday. I called the Roto Rooter who promised to be there soon. Three hours later no one came, I called them and they premised "In three hours". At this point I cancelled and decided to go with Liquid Plumber. My plumbing worked whole Saturday but by Sunday evening crapped out again. I emailed Gary's Rooter at midnight and got a response in 15 minutes. We had an appointment set up for Monday 3 pm. Plumber called ahead telling us he will be late and came at 3 pm. Everything was done well and the plumbers also explained the issues with our pipes and what can be done in the future (Change pipes, get a double vale etc) . On Friday I woke up to no hot water. I called a company I had dealt with on a prior occasion, but they couldn't come out until Monday. I panicked!! Boy am I glad there are plumbers in the world and that I found Gary's on Yelp. Our basement toilet stopped working and since I know a bit about plumbing I tried to snake it myself but it didn't work. So I figured it must be a broken sump pump or something further down the line. The whole basement started to smell so I called Gary. First, Gary is *very* prompt in responding. Even though it was Super Bowl Sunday and my message said that calling me the next day was fine, Gary called within an hour of my leaving a message. He also followed up on email. Second, the guy he sent out was on time. Most important, he found a *huge* root ball with roots that had grown into the sump. He cleaned out the entire root ball and put Round Up into the sump to try to kill off any remaining roots. He cleaned the entire area thoroughly before leaving and everything works great. He also gave good advice on how to try to prevent this from recurring. So problem solved. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was expense. Worked out to $250/hr until he knocked off $100 from the overall price. It's what we agreed to so no funny business. Just seemed rather high. The water line ruptured underneath the concrete slab of our home. I frantically called for help and Gary answered on the first ring. He walked me through shutting down the water. It was one of scariest experiences to hear a river of water rushing under our floor and to see water pouring out from beneath our home, into my studio and all over our patios. Sometimes you get lucky... I am having a big drainage project done at my house. One of the drainage guys ruptured my very old sewer main (no surprise, as I'd been having trouble with it for years). He also detected a plumbing leak on my exterior tap. I Googled "Belmont Plumbing" and was directed to www.belmontplumbingco.com, aka Gary's Guaranteed Rooter. I took a leap of faith and called. Gary answered the line immediately, and within the hour his co-worker Ed showed up. Super nice guy, very knowledgeable. I asked him if he could also look at the frozen knobs in my downstairs bathroom (rendering the shower/tub useless for years). Gary and Ed strategized with me on how to fix the shower/tub as economically as possible. They also fixed the exterior tap with the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. As for the sewer main, I went beyond faith and did my research. Gary's price was solidly in the median. He was able to use the "pipe-bursting trenchless" method, which is recommended by the EPA, after he scoped the line with a camera to ensure it would work. Additionally, he made sure I had top-notch materials (even showed me what I had vs. what he bought). The whole process took a day. Gary and Ed are smart, honest and passionate about superior service. A company is only as good as its owner and its employees. With that being said, Gary (owner) is as stand up as they come. I found his company on yelp, called him, and he responded to my voicemail within minutes. I explained my exact situation, and from the beginning he knew exactly what needed to be done. He assured me that he had the two best guys for the job. He even texted me pictures of a similar job they had done before, which totally put me at ease. From our first telephone conversation I knew I was dealing with the right company to take care of a pretty serious plumbing issue at my house. His plumbers Simon and Oscar showed up the next morning. These two are seriously the best plumbers that I have ever seen or dealt with. WOW! These guys are BEASTS! Friendly, efficient, fast, clean, and confident. Their workmanship and attention to detail is outstanding! I will go into detail as to my particular situation, so if you're interested read on. What I can say is that GGR saved me time, stress and money. DO NOT HESITATE to call them!! I had 50 feet of 2" cast iron drain pipe that developed a leak right underneath my kitchen area, somewhere underneath my house in the crawlspace. Mind you, the pipes are over 60 years old, so a simple spot repair was most likely out of the question. You have to replace the entire line and tie it into the 4" main. Fine. Well, not really. Here's the very tricky part; the crawlspace is only 18-24" high and the drain pipes are buried underneath concrete (rat-proofing)!! Try to picture that for a second. You have to lay on your back and stomach with a small jackhammer and hammer out 50 feet of concrete just to get to and remove the old pipes! Not an easy job. I had two plumbers tell me that they did not even want to go near this job!! I had one company want to do a spot repair (WTF?) and re-use cast iron instead of ABS plastic. Another company wanted to break apart my garage wall and did not want to pour new rat-proofing after busting up the original concrete (mickey mouse job?) and I had another company that wanted to ditch the old line completely in favor running new drain pipes 12 inches higher than the original, eliminating my garage sink in the process; Hell no! I was about to go with the company who wanted to bust up my garage wall, and just have my handy man come out and repair the sheet rock, along with pouring new rat-proofing. I sat on my computer one last time and by coincidence I happened to see Gary's Guaranteed Rooter's business pop up on my Yelp screen. I clicked on his Yelp page, opened his photos and VOILA!! He had pictures of what looked EXACTLY like my crawlspace and issue. There were pictures of a new trench dug out (by breaking the concrete), new ABS pipes laid in place of the old cast iron and new concrete poured after the repair!! Exactly what I needed! I called him right away and the rest was history (refer to my first paragraph). Gary's team attacked the issue with enthusiasm the very next morning. They replaced the entire 50 foot line with ABS Plastic, Tied into the 4" main beautifully, and even replaced all of my secondary connections with ABS plastic. They poured new concrete when they finished and they DID NOT break my walls. They did all that work for 25% cheaper than the next lowest bid! They also did it faster. Every other company quoted 2 to 3 days. They did it in 1! They started at 10 am and were done by 8 pm. By the way, my old cast iron pipe had a huge 10 foot crack in it!! I cannot say enough good things about this company. It looks like Gary posted pictures of the job that they did at my house (refer to the pictures of the rusted out cast iron pipes and the new black ABS lines run in a crawlspace with orange and blue couplers). This is not a typical review because I did not actually use Gary's services but my experience today shows a lot about the type of person that he is. In the middle of a relaxing Sunday morning I notice a huge puddle of water on my kitchen floor. Turns out that one of the angle valves under my kitchen faucet was leaking badly. Looked easy enough to replace so I bought a new part from the local hardware store and started the job. Three hours and several attempts/re-installs later, the new valve was still leaking. I finally gave up. Frustrated and tired, I called Gary after seeing good reviews on Yelp and was ready to fork over a good amount of money for an emergency Sunday afternoon job. To my surprise, instead of quoting me a price to come to my residence, Gary took his time to explain to me step by step what had to be done, what I was doing wrong and encouraged me to try again. So I tried again did exactly as Gary instructed. 15 minutes later my sink was fixed. I called Gary back to thank him. In 2013, I used Gary's because we had a clog drain in the main line for the house. We had just purchased a house who no one lived in for a year, so the conclusion was that things dried up in the line. The service and experience was fantastic. They were out the same day, snaked the line with a camera. The charge was roughly $250, which is their minimum charge. Seemed high for what they did, however the person who came out was very knowledgeable and understanding. We remodeled our kitchen and our contractor did a half-axx job with the plumbing. Turns out we have another clog in the line, which is creating our kitchen to over flow. On top of the the new disposal is leaking from the bottom and needs to be replaced. Yes, two leaks and bad plumbing install. Called Gary's on Wednesday to see if they could come out and bid the job. Gary said that he could have Robert call me, that he has 25+ years experience and would be the capable to do the job we are describing. Robert never contacted me. I called back on Thursday 12/11 spoke with Garry and explained the situation. Gary apologized and assured me that Robert is a great guy with a lot of experience, but he is forgetful with calling customers. Robert came out and assessed the job with a bid for $650. Robert said that he could do it Tuesday. Because of the weather, Gary called and delayed the job until Wednesday, today 12/17 and if we could be patience and wait till Wednesday he will have it done first thing Wednesday morning. Now, this morning...instead of Gary calling to explain the issue, he had another plumber, Ed, call that was inexperienced about the job and had no knowledge of what we have been going through. There seems to be no communication between the plumbers and the office. While on the phone with Ed, he is asking me questions about the job and the work that needs to be done. If you are sending a replacement, don't you think Robert or Gary should have communicated the details of the bid and the job that needs to be done. Then, he continued to tell me that he will arrive around 11 am because customers kitchens are flooding because of the rainy weather and they have been stuck on jobs. They are trying to squeeze me in, because of all these kitchen flooding. Really....trying to squeeze me in? I have booked for about a week. Had no kitchen because of the plumbing and now you are providing me excuses for your delays. Asking me about the issues that are going on, when its not my job to tell you. Id you are replacing someone you should know exactly what the job is. We went with Gary's in 2013 because of all the YELP reviews. My conclusions is when there is a small job need a drain snaked, toilet replaced, little plumbing leak, they will be there ASAP. When it's a larger job, they delay as much as possible as to get the money from the little jobs. With a min rate of $250, and job that could take 30 minutes...I too would want to get paid $500 per hour. WOW! This is a great plumber for the the little jobs, horrible for the big. read more

Did a good job but it took two visits to completely resolve the problem which was a whether large job in cost both times. Would have expected some sort of price discount consideration being proactively offered given it was not fixed completely the 1st time and gave the job both times without a 2nd estimate. On the second visit really could not wait to get a 2nd estimate given the time involved and another work crew (installing moisture barrier) was waiting to complete their job that was halted when they identified the plumbing issue both times. After asking a small discount was given. The other work crew who were working under the house felt the cleanup was not very good as they needed to do more. Updated: After talking with Gary the issue that was of concern was fully resolved & therefore changed to rating. Gary is an owner who cares about his business. Given the proactive follow-up by Gary along with him taking a personal interest in resolving the issue and the quality of the work was done was very good, adjusted the rating accordingly. read more

I'm upgrading my review from one star. Gary contacted me after I posted the original review and asked what he could do to improve my experience. There was nothing he could do about the lousy attitide of the plumber (Luis) that came out to snake my sewer on a Sunday, but he did reduce the charge from $700 to $350 and sent me a refund check. Still pricey but it took a bit of the sting out of the situation. If my sewer had had the decency to back up Mon-Fri during business hours I suspect my experience would have been better as Ed would have been available, but watch out for the after hours crew. read more

This is a shout out to Ed. He's friendly, knowledgeable, and got the job done. I had a backed up kitchen sink and laundry the day after Christmas. Gary's was the only place I called that was able to help me the same day. Ed arrived in under 2 hours, snaked the main line, and was done in under an hour. After he left, I had additional problems that may have been may not have been related to the initial problem. I called him back, he drove back to my house, did some troubleshooting, and then saw what the issue was. No additional charges. Gary's Plumbing and Rooter is the best! I have been using Gary for years now, and I couldn't be happier with his professional, high-quality work. He's done most normal plumbing jobs all around the house: unclog a drain, installed a new faucet, cleaned sewer lines, unclog another drain, installed a shower head, installed new pipes under the sink, adjusted a toilet, unclogged yet another drain, etc. You get the idea. First, I love how he, or Ed personally answers the phone. No phone bank here. They always arrive on time (usually within an hour or so of my call), thoroughly explain the situation, costs, and alternatives. I like how they spell out, in plain English, what the plumbing issue is. They don't talk down to you, or pressure you to purchase anything. Excellent communication! They're quick, knowledgeable, thorough, and friendly. The costs are always given up front, so there are no surprises. And they're more reasonable than Rotor Rooter. The work is done right, and done quickly. Once, Gary came out for a toilet issue. He checked it out, saying I could have a new part ($30) installed by him ($200+) OR he could make some permanent adjustments which will get the toilet functioning properly. Naturally, I chose the adjustment option, as the other option was not only costly, but time consuming and messy as well, involving removing the tank and possibly the bowl itself. The toilet now runs fine and for his advice and adjustment work, he did not charge me at all! He could have made money out of my situation, but gave me the choice. I would not have known there was an option...I am no plumbing expert. Now that's GREAT customer service! What I really appreciate is that Gary truly cares about his clients. Gary and his team are knowledgeable, honest and courteous. He takes the time to make sure you are aware of what's going on every step of the way. And then that you are happy with his work. He explains things so well, I feel like I've learned something, plumbing-wise. And it's done in the most friendly manner. I have Gary's Plumbing and Rooter on speed dial on my cell phone. And I also have his magnet on my fridge (just in case my cell phone isn't charged up). So I will always have his number close at hand. I know if I need a plumber, Gary's my go-to guy.
