I found this little gem on one of my trips to the Pan Handle of Florida. Not really sure how I got to be in Chipley, but there I was, in small town USA, a rogue Jamaican out in the boonies for work!
Well, when the Noon Hour approached, my belly started to call for food. Wanting to avoid all the local fast food joints, I asked a local where would they go for the best seafood in town. Expecting an answer like Captain D's or Long John Silvers, they suggested I hit Gary's and try the Fried Grouper Lunch Special... Wow! Hands down, the best Fried Grouper I've had! Crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. Not greasy at all, loads of flavor and the best two sides anyone could ask for - Cole Slaw & Sweet Potato Fries!
I washed it all down with some true Southern Sweet Tea - Heavy on the sweet, light on the tea! And if Fried Grouper is not your thing, then have it blackened or grilled, or go somewhere else for lunch. Well, truth be told, there's not many other places to go for lunch in Chipley, except the Chuck Wagon - Skip it!
So, if you're ever driving along the I-10 heading west from Tallahassee to the Pan Handle, be sure to stop in and sample Gary's fares! read more
