Went to Dr. Wexler for knee pain. He did not examine my knee. He typed while I described the pain; no eye contact. I had jeans on, so he never laid eyes on my knee, but stuck his thumb pretty hard in the back and said "Does it hurt here?" and then told me I probably had a torn meniscus. Told me to get xrays, left the room, never returned. Never said goodbye, never discussed treatment. I was ushered to the front by the secretary who gave me a prescription I didn't want and made me a follow up appointment. Dr. Wexler stood nearby texting. Never looked up. Poor excuse for patient care. I changed practices. Don't waste your time! read more

GREAT EXPERIENCE! Dr Wexler was amazing in his care for my daughter. He worked hard to get her a next day MRI appt, then saw her directly after the MRI. He also got her a same day PT appt! I went to Dr. Wexler for shoulder pain that I have been having for almost a year. The doctor asked me to do one range of motion test & one strength test. He then ordered x-rays and was out of the exam room in under 2 minutes. There was no discussion of my symptoms as I was never asked. After the x-rays were done the doctor returned for another minute or two. I was told the x-rays looked fine which seemed to imply that the pain I have been experiencing either wasn't real or couldn't be very bad. I was then told that he would prescribe steroids & physical therapy. What was actually prescribed was an anti-inflammatory, not a steroid. I had a reaction to the meds & sent a text to the office the next morning. I received a call from one of the girls in the office. I was never contacted by Dr. Wexler to see if my symptoms had improved or to discuss prescribing a different medication. I find this to be totally unacceptable. I agree with some of the other reviews that say the office is run like a factory. The goal seems to be to get patients in & out as fast as possible, bill the insurance company, then repeat. It is a very sad state of affairs when my dogs receive better medical care from their veterinarian than I received from Dr. Wexler. Needless to say, I cancelled my physical therapy appointment as well as my follow up appointment with Dr. Wexler. If I decide to peruse further treatment, it will be with a different physician that will hopefully listen, discuss & care. Dr. Wexler seems too have forgotten the Hippocratic oath that he took. My experience with Dr. Wexler was phenomenal. He is fabulous surgeon who saw me on an emergency basis. I ended up having knee surgery for a torn meniscus. He is caring, kind, well trained and educated, communicates incredibly well and is top notch physician. His staff - especially Donna - is fantastic and it takes seconds, not even minutes for them to respond to a question or concern. They go above and beyond in every way. There is NO wait time in the office - best run office I've seen anywhere including NY. I saw the nurse, doctor and had x rays in the office in under half hour my first visit. Every visit has been equally efficient. I can't recommend Dr. Wexler enough. read more

I had a terrible experience at my appointment with Dr. Wexler. After dealing with knee issues for many months, I got an MRI. There ended up being a notable mention on the MRI report so I took it to Dr. Wrexler...I had a moderate fission at my femoral trochlear groove. He looked down at the radiologists report, read for a while and then said, oh that's not it, you're thinking too much about this, there is nothing wrong with your knee. After me asking if he could take a look at the images, he would not even look. I was given at most 3 to 4 minutes for my appointment. He signed me up for PT and got his assistant to stick an electrical patch on my knee. I went to a much more reputable doctor for a second opinion and he went right ahead to the images and showed me the defect, full surface, to the bone...It required surgery and now I finally have some hope with this knee. read more

I was referred to Dr. Wexler by a local WPB physician for an issue with advanced osteoarthritis. While the doctor was quite personable and professional at the time of my visits, I have come to learn (through some very deceptive billing practices in which his office is engaged) that the big smile was a bit of a front. Sadly, I was completely mislead regarding certain pain treatments, (and charged handsomely for them out of my own pocket), only to discover from my insurance company that Dr. Wexler's office claimed the treatments were NEVER authorized and therefore ineligible for any reimbursement. Long story, but the bottom line is that I came to discover that Dr. Wexler's practice is very poorly run. Zero professionalism on the part of his staff in terms of handling the simplest of billing tasks. His staff has put me through months of needless frustration. Beware. I would strongly suggest this doctor is NOT worth the trouble. As a patient, I feel as though I was taken big time! read more

Check out either Healthgrades where 25 out of 63 reviews are ONE STAR or Vitals reviews and you will far lower ratings and see numerous terrible reviews where people say Gary Wexler spent almost no time and did no evaluation. He didn't touch or manipulate my elbow to find pain or issues, asked for zero history, no imaging, no question on severity of pain or cause of pain. No advice on whether I needed to rest the elbow. Actually, DID NOT ASK ABOUT ANYTHING except whether I wanted physical therapy with their people! Left after a couple minutes to "get prescription" and didn't return. 100% useless and total waste of time and money. My experience and many others make it clear he churns numerous patients through in under 5 minutes each and couldn't care less about serving their needs. read more

I made an appt with this doctor, and upon signing in, I was given the usual forms to fill out prior to being seen by the doctor. However, contained in this stack of usual forms, was one that I have never seen in any other doctor's visit. An ARBITRATION AGREEMENT. This form has the effect of DENYING a patient's right to sue a doctor in a court of law and seek a jury trial. This right is a god given right granted to us by our U.S. Constitution, but this doctor wants me to give up this right before he even sees me. Arbitration not only surrenders a patients rights to a jury trial, it is also prohibitively expensive for the plaintiff. And even if the patient does undertake the extreme costs to pursue a liability claim, arbitration panels almost always award less to the plaintiff. This is a fact, as Arbitration is a private business venture, & it is well established that those who provide arbitration services & consistently give awards to the plaintiff, or give what could be considered too great of an amount over and above that of a jury trial, well, they typically do not stay in business for long, as businesses who seek their services will go elsewhere. They will look for a private arbitration firm that seeks to benefit them, and not the plaintiff. It basically comes down to who do you want to look to for help if your doctor commits malpractice and harms you greatly. An unbiased court system with an impartial jury? Or a private sector business who relies on repeat business from doctors? Can you guess who will be more favorable to you, the plaintiff? Furthermore, many personal injury lawyers who would typically take your case for free, will not represent you unless you first agree to pay up front the costs of initiating an arbitration panel...which can run into the thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars...up front...paid by you, the patient. Whereas, for a jury trial, it costs only a few hundred dollars to initiate a court case, which most lawyers will gladly front the costs for you. Doctors know this, and know that not only do arbitration agreements have a chilling effect on legal actions against them, they will typically only have to pay out pennies on the dollar if they do commit malpractice. Finally, it should also be mentioned, that this doctor & his group do not carry malpractice insurance. Which means they do not have an insurance carrier with the amount of money that may be necessary to make you whole if they commit malpractice and make a mistake with your healthcare. Upon finding this insulting arbitration agreement contained within my packet of documents to fill out, I asked the front desk if I had to sign this agreement or was it optional. I was told that it had to be signed or I would be refused service. So, in essence, this doctor wants his patients to give up their rights, right then and there, without consultation from an attorney, if they want him to treat them. This doctor is hoping that you will blindly sign this agreement without question. You will find out only when it is too late, that you gave up this very valuable right, when you need help the most. DO NOT give up your rights. No doctor is worth this. Especially when so many other specialists in this field will not ask you to sign this horrible form. Contained within the arbitration agreement is a statement telling you that you are signing this agreement in order to keep costs down and save money. But save money for who? The doctor does not charge less than other doctors within his profession. My copay is the same and my insurance company pays him the same as other doctors that do NOT require I sign an arbitration agreement. So, it appears that this "savings" that is stated as the reason for the arbitration agreement, is not passed along to the patient, but instead, goes directly to the doctor. It's not to save the patient money, but instead, an increase of profits to the doctor. Combine this with the fact that this doctor is also not paying for malpractice insurance, a lot of money is being saved. Money meant as a cost for protection of patients. Who gets that savings? Anyway, I refuse to see any doctor that tells me I have to give up my rights in order to see him. I have been to many doctors and I have never before been asked to give up this very important right. This isn't a can of soup I am buying, this is my health, my life I am trusting him with. And if he makes a mistake, I am not only not allowed to look to the court system for help, I also do not have an insurance company I can work with in order to make me whole. There are just way too many other doctors in this field have malpractice insurance and do not require me to sign this ridiculous arbitration agreement form. This is my life at stake, and I want what is best for me. This doctor isn't it. Don't take my word, Google arbitration agreements and doctors, and see what the consensus is on the subject & who it benefits. You will find it is not the patient. read more

Extreme knee pain was diagnosed by Gary Wexler as a torn meniscus which he operated on in May. For the next 4 months I experienced the same pain in the same knee. So I went to Joel Cohen and he told me that the meniscus was still torn and that I had a large cyst on the knee too. I am now, thanks to Dr. Cohen, pain fee. What the heck did Dr. Wexler do?
