CASA was a fun organization to be a part of mainly due to Dr. F's enthusiasm, passion and new ideas on making students aware of substance abuse. I was a peer educator and Dr. F trained us to do workshops, intervention and reach out to students at TU on the issues of drug and alcohol use. He was one of the most accessible and easy going professors that I knew. I often found myself talking to Dr. F about things I was going through because he was so easy to talk to. Respectively, I could tell he wasn't a stranger to the crazy college lifestyle (partying, relationship woes, family struggles, work balance, etc) I was living and he never made me feel "less than" or like he didn't get it. Dr. F always just got it. I think Dr. F would be a great therapist for anyone wanting to explore the role addiction serves in his or her world. If you're ready to make a change, Dr. Frank is who I would suggest.

Dr Perilstein is a life saver!…read more 6 months ago I began seeing her during a very difficult time in my life. Quite frankly I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel... I didn't have a day without crippling anxiety and it drive me to depression. Doctor Perilstein, with a large dose on genuine care and a small dose of comedy, began treating me. She quickly began focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy as a means to train myself on how to be "my old happy self" again. I recently completed Level II Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) training after completing Level I…read moretraining last November. The training/workshops are an excellent introduction to CBT. The training helped me realize that CBT is an effective psychotherapy that has more depth and nuances than a 'manual-based' psychotherapy, as CBT is often referred to. When I read Dr. Aaron Beck's book, Cognitive Therapy of Depression I said that the book should be required reading for all graduate counseling programs. After completing the trainings I am sorry I did not begin training in CBT while in graduate school or immediately after graduating (as one of my professors urged me to do). The training is thorough and informative. The training has helped me help my patients while also helping me improve my self as a psychotherapist. As I mentioned, the curriculum is excellent. But I could not write a review without mentioning how knowledgeable, professional and passionate the instructors are. The workshops are a great introduction to CBT. I realized to become proficient as a CBT therapist I would need additional training/supervision. I look forward to beginning supervision in the Beck Institute supervision program this spring and attending the workshop on CBT and PTSD this Fall. I am glad that I made the investment in time and money to attend the CBT workshops at the Beck Institute. I am sure it will pay dividends for my patients and my practice in the future.
