I was throughly surprised, and felt it was totally worth the money. They gave great instructions, and helped my son build his confidence while riding his bike. My son worked his way up to third gear (something he's never felt comfortable with prior). My son CANNOT WAIT to come back. Learning to ride a motorcycle, is nothing to take lightly. It's your life, it's your skills, and not getting the correct information, might just lead to you crashing, injury, and or possibly not learning to ride due to fear. Brian is great, in that he not only offers brand new 2022 motorcycles to practice on, (CRF 250F's) but the gear is also available if you don't have it. I'd highly suggest a class prior to buying a motorcycle, and also always start on the dirt, before street as you can crash without consequence. Instruction was great, he not only provides basic instruction on how to ride, what body position and stance, but he also watches you throughout the day, giving suggestions. For me, it was about staying out of the seat, an old habit I have from riding street bikes for 35+ years. We probably did 30 minutes or more of instructions, and several hours of on bike practicing drills, etc. Is there a better motorcycle instructor out there? I have not found them. I like that Brian offers instruction on private land in Boulder Creek, instead of sharing space at Metcalf, etc. Excellent teaching, I still hear Brian in my head telling me to stand up, butt back, in a ready position. Super cool dude, up brand new equipment, and a private riding area to ride, what else can you ask for? I was already riding dirt bikes for 25+ years before taking the class, and I definitely learned some things, that I wish I had known all along. read more

Brian Garrahan of Garrahan Off Road Training was very rude to me and is a hater of electric motorcycles. I raced in an event organized by him and AMA District 36 the Donner Harescramble at Donner Ski Ranch. I finished my race for the day and was riding around the pits on my Sur Ron Light Bee responsibly with helmet and riding gear on, talking to some friends there for the hillclimb event. Mr. Garrahan comes up behind me and very rudely proclaims that "THIS IS MY MOUNTAIN YOU WILL NOT RIDE YOUR EBIKE ON THIS MOUNTAIN" like he is the Sheriff and I went and did something wrong. I was like OK confused by why he is being so rude to me. Well I did nothing wrong and he singled me out because I was riding an electric motorcycle. About an hour ago I was racing my electric motorcycle all over his mountain and he didn't like it. I paid with a lot of my hard earned money so I can compete in that event and to get hated on and berated by this man leaves a bad impression of himself and his business. The event itself was not good either. The parking was horrible, not enough bathrooms, registration was a mess, and to top it off they had no finisher pins for the racers. I won't be coming back to this event and I will never attend any of his events. read more

Zero focus on safety in course (hence one star). Gear provided is old and a duct table is given to hold together armor where velcro has gone bad. Bikes provided are ok. A kid got badly injured during my course intro to dirt 1. Brian was helpful in trying to arrange for 911. He is positive and fun. Park rangers are incompetent and it took more than 1 hour for help to arrive while the kid was by himself in pain. Riding skills are imparted in a big group, so difficult to learn. Overall, get a private lesson and get your own gear. read more

It's the Monday after a 2 day "Intro to Dirt" course, and I'm still buzzing! A little sore, but still buzzing! Can't say enough good things about a truly epic weekend. Brian and his team are excellent teachers. They give you the fundamentals to get started and then motivate you through the tough times, constantly offering little bits of advice on how to improve your form, technique, etc. Total newbie? No problem! Brian and his team will accommodate everyone at all levels. We had 3 kids who couldn't have been older than 10, a couple of adults who had never been on a motorcycle before, but everyone was looked after and by all accounts had a great time. There's so much to learn in the "Intro to Dirt" course that I will definitely be taking it again. read more

My 8 year old son has been dying to get on a dirt bike. I signed him up for the Intro to Dirt class, he loved it! Brian is very patient and knowledgeable. He gave really good instruction and had my son riding pretty well after about 30 minutes. We were able to rent all the gear needed from Brian, which was a great addition to the class. Brian brings the energy so come prepared for fun. He's awesome and I'm hooked on riding after my first time. Here's what my intro to dirt class looked like: People: a nice mix from a doctor in his 50s to a cute little kid who was probably 8 (he was on the tiny bike) and everything in between. A few people rode street bikes before (like me) and a few people did it for their first time. At the end of the day everyone was riding, jumping, hill climbing, and zipping around except for one person who decided it wasn't for her. **The Day** Morning: - get your gear on - intro to bikes / safety 101 - basic drills on flat ground (starting, stopping, switching gears, getting used to the dirt) - water break (he brings a giant jug, drink because you'll need it) - track ride right before lunch (this is a big jump up and it's awesome, you ride around the track, if you want you can jump too) Lunch break: Good food, bring your own if you want more than sandwiches / fruit / snacks. Afternoon: - technical training (turning tighter, skidding, going around cones, turning on banks, riding smooth) - water break (drink a TON because the next part is going to be the most physically demanding) - trail riding (hill climbing, zipping up and down the mountains, ironing out what we learned in class) **Final Thoughts** Everyone had a blast, we were all smiles. I'm hooked and will be dirt biking now, he converted me. Brian has great energy, there's another instructor who helps out "as needed" giving us more-experienced beginners helpful tips on how to improve. I was the fastest guy in the class and they gave me a LOT of great info. There were people who were a lot slower and they got the help they needed and were just as happy and satisfied with the class as I was. read more

If you want to develop a skill, it's best to learn from someone who absolutely loves what they do. Brian is a great dirt bike coach who can always show you the next level of off-road riding. Although the "Intro to Dirt" class is welcoming to beginners, it doesn't mean you'll only be doing easy stuff. It means that you will be supported through the hard stuff: when you make mistakes, drop your bike, get stuck, get scared or just don't know how to tackle the terrain, Brian and his crew will be there to help you learn how to prevail (or if you get really stuck, help pull your bike out). It's about mastering off-road riding techniques and pulling it all together to make you a fundamentally better rider - skills you can build on with his Advanced courses, or even apply to other riding disciplines. read more
