What you would expect from a LaQuinta like this but everything was first rate and for people traveling this is the perfect hotel. Everything was clean and nice. The staff were friendly and attentive. Everything felt like there was effort and care here. Our room was great with excellent air conditioning. The breakfast was standard continental breakfast but very nice with fresh food, a couple of hot items (the biscuits and gravy were great) and it was very nice. What really makes this place a winner is you have a jack in the box/mini-mart right next door and you have a Denny's right next door on the other side! Such a convenience to wander of to the JITB/Mini-Mart after the races and pickup some cold drinks and tacos/burgers. There's also tons of other restaurants and stores like McDonalds, Dominos, Burger King, Los Margaritas Mexican and a bunch of others within sight. For travelers, this convenience is spectacular and rare to have it so easily accessible and nearby. I didn't get a chance to see the pool area but I am sure it is as nice as the rest of the hotel. A solid 10/10 experience and we'll be sure to book here again anytime we plan to go have fun up at Emerald Downs again!

The smell of the entire building (thank goodness not our room) was strong and nauseating. It's not a clean smell...it's a, we want the place to smell clean but failed miserably, smell. Also, room service is every three days...we were only staying four days so it made no sense to have them clean our room. We did ask for fresh towels on the second day. We upgraded to a suite so there were two rooms. The heater in the bedroom worked fine but the one in the main room did not (we figured the hotel is aware because it was unplugged). If youre looking for a budget friendly place to stay in Auburn, this place is okay. If youre highly sensitive to smells, I cannot recommend. 10/10 front desk 5/10 room Side note, bring your own TP unless you enjoy wiping with sandpaper...your bits will thank you!

Trains do stop over nigbt, but the hotel left air plugs in the room we had facing the tracks (we did *not* use them), and a note in the elevator states you can request a room on the other side of the hotel. Honestly, we enjoyed watching the trains come and go. Our King suite was a nice large space with a full sofa, side chair, desk area, mini-fridge and microwave. No coffee in room. The room was clean, bed and linens comfortable. Plenty of plugs, heating/cooling worked well. Plenty of space to open suitcases and get comfortable. Towels were soft and clean. Shower stall with multi-use personal care items. We even had a swan towel on the vanity which had a good amount of space for personal items. Housekeeping was available daily during our stay. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water Breakfast buffet was well managed. Plenty of seating options. Breakfast buffet included three cold cereals plus oatmeal, toaster items and pastry, several hot items, pancakes, fresh fruits, coffee, tea, cocoa and juices. Lobby is large with several seating areas. Business center in the midst of the lobby. Nice patio at the back. Guest laundry, gym and pool at the far side of the ground floor. Ice machines by elevators. Guest parking on site. All public areas were clean and in good condition. All staff we encountered were very nice.

We arrived at 3:00pm but the room wasn't ready, perhaps another 15 minutes or we can be reassigned to another room. I opted to wait it out. The host, Hamilton (Sorry, I think that was the name) greeted us and was apologetic for the inconvenience and offered to store our luggage if we wanted to go out for now. That was very nice and we chose to wait it out. The coffee service was there and hot as we waited for that short time. The room is typical Hampton Inn style, clean and predictable. We noted that room servicing takes place every other day so I requested an extra set of towels. Someone actually brought it up! I was shocked and surprised. The drain in the bathroom was slow and by the next day, it seemed to almost stop. We contacted Keziah and she was able to get a maintenance person to come by and unclogged the drain. She was very helpful and followed up with us. The breakfast was well stocked and the kitchen staff kept everything well supplied. The serving area is really small, one of the smaller areas in a Hampton Inn, but with the efficient staff the place is well supplied. Overall this place deserves my 5-Pillow award for having one of the nicer Hampton Inns. One hint if you read this far: Book an even numbered room. I had an odd number and you can hear the freeway vehicles travel all night long.

Extremely Disappointing Service -- Not Recommended…read more Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The Wi-Fi was unreliable and barely usable, and the level of customer service was unacceptable. If you are staying for multiple nights, be aware that your room may not be cleaned automatically. You must remember to call the front desk every single morning to request housekeeping. Otherwise, regardless of how many consecutive nights you stay, your room may not be serviced. During our multi-night stay, housekeeping cleaned the room only once. When we contacted the front desk to discuss the problem, we were told that our request was unreasonable. The staff member did not want to continue communicating with us, and afterward, our calls to the front desk were no longer answered. Guests should not have to repeatedly chase the front desk for basic housekeeping service, especially during an extended stay. Between the unreliable Wi-Fi, lack of housekeeping, and dismissive attitude from the front desk, this was one of the poorest hotel service experiences we have had. I would not recommend this hotel.

Great rooms, but frustrating and inconsistent player service…read more I really loved the hotel room--comfortable, spacious, and one of the better rooms I've stayed in. The casino floor is huge, although I did not see many newer machines. Most of the team members we met in person were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the overall player-service experience was extremely confusing. Before arriving around 1 a.m., we called to confirm a room was available and were quoted 169 per night plus tax, with no resort fee. At check-in, the rate showed as 189, but the front-desk gentleman kindly honored the 169 quote. We appreciated that gesture. The issue started when we tried to find out whether our room could be reviewed for a comp after play. We received completely different answers from reservations, table games, the front desk, and the rewards team. One person said a room could be comped after play; another said it could not. We were told the room would be comped for both nights, only to later find that no one at the front desk had any record of it--and the second night had not even been booked. The most frustrating part was trying to speak with a casino host. We were repeatedly told that we could not speak with a host unless one had already been assigned to us. It honestly felt like trying to speak with a secret agent--apparently they exist, but no new guest is allowed to reach one. How is a new player supposed to establish a relationship or learn the process if they cannot speak with anyone who can actually explain it? One representative even said that new players could only receive a comped room "unless you hit jackpots," which came across as dismissive and unprofessional. You never know a guest's value until they have had the opportunity to visit and play. The confusion continued with dining: instead of allowing charges to be reviewed afterward, we were told we had to ask the server before signing whether we qualified for a meal comp. In the end, the total room and dining charge was only about 205, so this is not really about the money. It is about having a clear, consistent process and making new guests feel welcome. My husband played both baccarat and machines, and we simply wanted an accurate answer about what could be reviewed based on his play. The rooms are excellent, and several employees were genuinely kind. But the lack of communication, inconsistent information, and inability to reach anyone empowered to help made the experience frustrating enough that we would likely choose another property next time.

The rooms are clean, but tired out. Our bathroom door didn't close all the way because it was swelled or hung wrong, but it just didn't fit the doorway. This was our second room, because the first room, with -- "No Smoking Room" in fancy script on the door -- smelled like a cigar bar. I walked two feet into the room, said, "Oh HELL no," and we went straight back to the front desk. We were given the room right next door (also with fancy script on the door), and the front desk clerk was right behind us with an air purifier for the room we'd abandoned. I don't know how well that purifier worked, but suffice to say, a non-smoking room...isn't. Our other issue with our room was that the card keys just wouldn't hold their programmed codes. We had to go back down to the front desk multiple times, get the keys re-programmed, we got all new keys...they just didn't work consistently. I finally resorted to having my key reprogrammed every time I was returning to the hotel just to avoid having to go back to the front desk after trying in vain to get the door opened. The hotel provides a decent breakfast -- a little short of what most similar hotels offer, but there is plenty to eat. They had the usual waffle machine, cereal selections, instant oatmeal, and eggs and sausage. No yogurt or fresh fruit was available, and the bread selections were individually packaged muffins and white bread for toast -- no bagels. The hotel's location is in a ho-hum spot -- about a block from railroad tracks and behind a small private airport, but we didn't hear any noise from either one. However, the hotel is in a light commercial area with nothing too interesting in the immediate vicinity. It's an acceptable home base if you're going to be out doing other things all day and just need a place to lay your head at night.

So the front desk ran both my debit and visa cards. PayPal and Booking.com have refunded me, but I'm still working with the hotel to resolve those duplicate charges. The bed was clean and comfortable, and parking was plentiful, but the property could use more attention. There was a noticeable odor near part of the building, dim lighting outside at night, and cigarette butts around the outdoor tables. Inside the curtains didn't fully close, the shower curtain was torn, the diverter didn't fully work, and I noticed a few ants on the bathroom wall. The AC was loud, and the bathroom vent sounded like a mini airplane engine. With a small airport nearby, there was frequent aircraft noise, plus footsteps from the room above, which made it a bit noisy. Overall, it was acceptable for one night, but the maintenance issues, noise, and the billing confusion made th the stay less comfortable than expected. I'd rate it two out of five stars.

In the past, when things like that happen, the hotels have been understanding and willing to let me cancel my reservation and book elsewhere. Not this time. Since my money was already sunk, I trudged on till 11 PM (with a 5:30 wake up call) and checked in, then sank immediately into sleep. I can report that the bed was reasonably comfortable, electricity all worked, constant fan, etc. Nothing outstanding, nothing terrible. The clerk was friendly enough, and it's not that the manager was mean to me, but he stood up for "you booked it, we get it". And I get that from a business standpoint, and I'm not going to penalize a hotel for that because it's their livelihood. So, long story short: Days Inn is fairly average overall. Did not run into the issues other people cite, the room and hotel were both clean.
