* Are we really still in France? *
Ok, the majority of train stations in France are over-crowded, a bit run down, and have staff that gives the impression they don't necessarily like their job.
The Dijon station is just different. I'm not sure why. But it is. It is relatively clean, not terribly crowded, staff was actually helpful (to the point of getting up from their desk and actually walking us in the direction we needed to go), and overall a smooth pleasant experience to deal with.
Perhaps it helps that there were some lovely local train rides to beautiful spots like Nuits-Saint-George and Beaune. (Or maybe all the Burgandy wine and good food was helping?) Hm......
I would give a fifth star if they got better food options similar to those you can find in some of the Austrian train stations! read more
