We were looking for an attorney to help with an issue. When we reached Gardner & Steven's, we explained our complicated situation. The secretary told us they could help with our issue. We also asked if being in a different county would be an issue. She stated it would not. Both questions were answered without hesitation or seeking clarification from her employer. Our appt. was roughly 15 minutes in length. We had to keep explaining our issue and then correcting Attorney Stevens as he didn't quite seem to understand. We were told to change another document but this also needed a court petition. Finally we were told that we need an attorney in our own county as "there are hundreds of family law attorneys there" and then he said "I cannot help you." When I explained that I specifically asked about both my issue and being out of county, the secretary responded stating they'd be able to help and the county difference doesn't matter. Mr. Steven's told us that "Its hard for secretaries to know specific answers because they are not lawyers." A 45 minute drive, a 15 minute appt, and a $150 charge for something we were told they could help with but once there, they could not. We felt as though we inconvenienced them by even coming to the appt. Would not recommend. read more
