Garden's dream is a must-see destination for Connecticut gardeners. My daughter stopped in early Summer when everything was in bloom. She was so mesmerized she knew she had to bring me there. The place advertises a 35 mile "Garden Paradise", and I have no doubt when all the perennials are blooming it must be that. I went today, August 9th, so many of the perennials were past their time, but still available! To be honest I was surprised the annuals & perennial flowers weren't on sale, but the prices were not as high as the regular places found at other places. The most exciting thing about this nursery is the huge variety and quantity of each item available. If you are looking for something, you have a large selection of each flower, vegetable, plant, shrub, or tree to choose from. The staff was very nice. They take good care of their plants. I'll have to come back because unfortunately, it suddenly became oppressively hot and humid so we had to leave. I purchased a butterfly bush, rosemary & Thyme plants, and two beautiful annual flowers. read more

In May 2024 I bought an apple tree from Gardens Dream in Enfield. It looked great at the time and even had an apple. In July, I noticed that the bark on the center of the trunk started to peel. I called the store and was told this is normal just watch it, so I did. Well, forward to April 2025 and no leaves now on the whole middle of the tree, dead. I let them know and was told no refund, because its past the growing season. I would have had to change it the first time I called them.. Just wanted you to know, they don't tell you when you buy what the warranty is. I paid 130.00. I wish I bought it from Garden barn in Vernon, they guaranty for a full year. Will never go to Garden Dream again. read more

One of the largest nurseries for homeowners in the area. They have high quality stock, friendly knowledgeable staff, and good volume pricing. Their kids wagons make shopping easy and fun. In addition to plant stock they also carry planting materials like fertilizer and soil amendments. Finally, they have many decorative products for the garden or holidays. They are my go-to for vegetable plants, too. Great selection of New England's favorites. Warning: you will want to walk around all day viewing their beautiful grounds. read more

Wonderfully stocked farm for all your gardening needs. They have a wide range of plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables, trees, herbs, etc. I was amazed at the sheer size of the place, but was also impressed. They have helpful employees who are very familiar with the inventory. They had larger trees, flowers in baskets and pots outside, and fruits and vegetables separated in their own greenhouses and clearly labeled. The pricing is also extremely fair. Okay...anyone who knows me knows that going here was my wife's idea not mine :) Saying that, I was impressed by the layout, size, and variety of plants this place has to offer. They have six or seven huge greenhouses, each well-stocked with flowers, cover plants, herbs, bushes...everything. They actually chain off the parking lot and refuse entrance to customers twenty minutes before closing, so don't bother. That should've been enough but we returned to find a vast area of dying and diseased bushes at premium prices. It was sad to see the condition of many of the plants with no one tending to them. We went to Sixteen Acres Garden center and spent good money on superior products where all employees were welcoming and happy to have our business. read more

We drove here from West Hartford because of two things: the reviews and a radio commercial my wife keeps hearing. Garden's Dream has an EXCELLENT selection of perennials including stuff I've not seen at other garden places. It's rather bare bones in the sense that it's plants, plants and more plants but you won't be able to get stuff like landscape stones/border stones and the like there. The prices were perfect too and it was totally worth the drive. We ended up with 2 flats of annuals ($1.99 a piece) and 7 nice sized perennials for $48 out the door. We went on Memorial day and it was semi busy. I can imagine that it gets way busier on regular weekend days. Check it out---I think it's worth it. read more

We love this place!! It has everything--trees, bushes, hanging plants, flowers, bird baths, veggie plants, herbs, and I know I am missing stuff. Just know they've got everything a plant-loving person needs to have a happy garden. We've bought a lovely bush, many hanging baskets, and countless veggies here. The staff is always helpful, offering tips and advice with our purchases, and pleasantly guiding us with specific purchases (like that just-right bush we needed). The plants we've purchased have all been very healthy, robust, and hardy. Also, items have always been correctly labeled. What I mean by that is...well, let me tell you a quick, sad story. One year, we happened to be out with friends and popped by Somewhere Else and figured we'd just grab our veggie plants there and start a-plantin' already, as the season was getting rolling. Well, we sure regretted that move. The cucumber & squash plants weren't as hardy and healthy as what we are used to at Garden's Dream, and they just didn't seem to do as well, generally. The marigolds were a little sad (not abundant producers). But the big travesty was that my favorite tomato plants ended up being 100% NOT the variety that they were labeled as. By the time I figured it out, it was really too late to hunt down the variety (they go fast) and start again. I was very mad at Somewhere Else for depriving me of my favorite summer snack tomato. Anyway, it was a season I'd like to forget, and now we just stick to Garden's Dream. Their pricing is fair, and it seems like there's almost always a coupon for a discount in a local paper. I recently made two trips to Garden's Dream in the same day. Garden's Dream emphasizes social distancing and other safety measures on their website and on their phone greeting, so I was surprised that both times the cashier was not wearing a face mask. Thankfully, I noticed almost all the customers were. As Connecticut is still under a mandatory mask order, and a cashier comes face-to-face with hundreds of people each day, I politely suggested to the cashier on my second visit that she should wear a mask. She got mad and shot me an angry glare. I wrote a note to Garden's Dream and asked what their official policy is regarding masks for their staff, particularly the cashier. They never responded. I like their nursery, but I have a daughter who is high risk, so I won't be going back. read more

The selection at Gardens Dreams is mind boggling. Whenever I go there I don't even know where to start. Their prices beat Home Depot, Lowes, and most other garden places I've seen. Plus you can find a coupon in the reminder for money off your purchase. They have wagons to use, tons of parking, and a quick checkout. The staff seems friendly and knowledgeable. Per yelp and Map app it said they were open until 6 pm. We drove all the way from East Lyme to get a specific plant. We like to search out specialty nurseries and take the time and money to make our gardens special. We first stopped at Garden Barn and spent $450.00 because they closed earlier. Then when we arrived at Garden Dream which we were initially very excited to go to, and had never been before, we were turned away at the entrance. It was only 4:40 and the women told us she was not allowed to let anyone in because they now closed at 5. We told her we still have 20 minutes then and only needed one thing that we specifically drove there for. She still refused! This is horrible customer service and we will not be returning. I recommend Garden Barn as they were extremely friendly and helped load our purchase. They never turn away good business and are also very knowledgeable. Furthermore, after double checking the website the hours at this location in Enfield we went to it says 9-6 which is contradictory to the owners response. read more

Wow! A hour ago I stepped on something that went up through my flip-flop and into my toe. This was right by the register-shed. Two employees rushed over and expressed concern. One offered me a band-aid and a paper towel - my foot was bleeding. The woman in charge, though? Barely glanced over, and when she did, she looked annoyed. She half-heartedly held up some Lysol wipes and asked if I needed one. She never once asked if I was okay. Never asked what it was I'd stepped on. Never followed up after we came back to pay for our plants. The plants are gorgeous. We spent $37. Don't worry, ma'am. I had a tetanus shot last fall. I have spent years searching for a garden shop that carried carnations. Not the Dianthus but the real carnations. I had never been to this garden shop so I decided to stop while I was in the area. Not only did they have the carnations I was looking for but they had a benice choice of beautiful colors. The plants I purchased here have always been healthy and Hardy. The selection and pricing on the perennials is truly unmatched, at least in this area. Lots of hard to find items like geums and anemones. Great selection of everything, really, though the perennials are what truly stand out. One word of advice/warning if you go - they are deadly serious about their closing time, and will make sure you are cashed out and off the property before the clock hits. Not very customer friendly. I bought six bushes there today but forgot my $5 coupon. You would think that after spending well over $200, they would have given a discount or at least allowed the $5 off without my having the coupon, but they weren't even nice about saying no. I asked a second person, and he also grumbled "no; you're supposed to present the coupon." I knew what I was supposed to do, but I was asking a favor since I'd just spent so much and had forgotten to bring the coupon with me. I just moved into a new house and will be needing many more plants, but they lost a good return customer over a measly $5. Guessing by the few customers in there, they've lost many.
