I am very upset with the outcome of my visit. I am allergic to two different antibiotics and asked for a specific antibiotics or something different than the ones I'm allergic to, in order to treat the infection that I have. I was told that I had an extensive amount of treatment for my mouth which was OK with, but my concern was they would not even give me an antibiotic for the infection I currently have. They told me I needed to go to my family doctor, which I think is absolutely absurd. I was recommended this place from my boyfriend who is an officer and referred many to here, but I am just very upset with how this was handled. The tech and patient care portion beyond this I have no complaints. But to leave a patient in pain for almost 2 weeks now is very upsetting. read more

I enjoyed every second of my appointment! Every staff member was helpful and kind to me. The front desk lady (Dawn) is honestly one of the most sweetest ladies Ive ever met. She's very sweet and sincere and she's always happy no matter what! And then they have this wonderful dental assistant named Arielle and she was very helpful when i came in for my appointment. They also have a hygienist by the name of Lindsay and she's literally one of the sweetest hygienists i've ever met. Extremely unpleasant location and very unprofessional. I have been going to the Matawan location for quite some time, and called today for an emergency appointment. I drove 35 minutes from my house to this location and was completely shocked with what I found. For starters, there are cigarettes all over the front of the entrance. There was a guy in his car in the drive way with Kentucky plates that was obviously on heroin or some other heavy drug because he was nodding off and had his face on the steering wheel. We were debating to see if he was okay, but we were worried he may have a gun and freak out. Anyways, I called and got my appointment and even had the text showing my confirmation. After about 20 minutes of knocking on the door, someone finally opened and looked surprised to see me. He told me the office closed at 4pm and he wasn't able to do anything for me. To top it off, I told him about the guy in the driveway and he brushed it off like it was normal, mentioning how people live upstairs. Although I love Garden State Smiles of Matawan, I will never come to this location again. Very disappointed with my experience today! read more

UPDATED REVIEW: I just got a small cavity filled I'm guessing on a tooth that already had filling and they charged me $209 for a procedure that took 10 min lol it was so small they told me I didn't even need to numb. My appt was at 10:30, got taken in at 10:34 and I was paying at 10:41. I can't believe they charged me this high price for the tiniest procedure... at most it should have been the 109 they advertised on their website. If they were filling an entire tooth I get it but I literally was in the chair for less than 10 min. I wouldn't come here for their dental procedures. Cleanings are ok. I will be looking for a new place. Found this because of the reviews and it really was true with what everyone said ! The receptionist was super nice and welcoming. My dental hygienist Angela was really thorough and knowledgeable. She was sweet and definitely took her time cleaning. Dr.Patel was super nice and informative as well. My husband and I have been going to see Vlad D. for many years. We had an unfortunate experience recently with another dentist in his office. We both had cavities filled which normally is a simple, routine procedure. Not this time - the dentist drilled holes too deep in the affected teeth. It took over 2 months for my tooth to feel normal without extreme sensitivity to hot and cold - particularly cold liquids and food. The hole she drilled to fill a small cavity was huge. My husband said the dentist drilled a large hole in his tooth where he also had a small cavity that didn't bother him. Now almost 6 months later his tooth is still extremely sensitive. I went back and complained after a month of painful sensitivity and the dentist wanted to drill more. We are changing dentists. read more

I had a real emergency when a cap fell off and of course it's Friday at 3 o'clock. I actually am a patient at a practice that says they are in emergency clinic as well. They didn't have time to see me so I googled and found Garden State smiles of North Brunswick. I couldn't be more pleased. I've literally been requesting a list of procedures performed by them back in March (I'm on my fourth request) along with the costs so that I can compare them to my payment made in March. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. I absolutely love the staff here! I was so happy to hear from Natisha they are able to squeeze me in for an appointment today. I was greeted warmly by Natisha who made the check-in process smooth and efficient. The atmosphere was calming and I appreciated the attention to detail in creating a welcoming environment. Afterwards Jess approached me and took me for an X-Ray. Jess is awesome! Throughout my cleaning Jess displayed a high level of expertise and precision, ensuring that I was comfortable and informed every step of the way. Her attention to detail and commitment to patient care were evident, and I felt confident that I was in good hands. Afterwards Dr. Shah came in the room and immediately put me at ease with her friendly demeanor and professional approach. She took the time to thoroughly explain the next steps needed for my teeth care. I had the need to go have dental work done after many years of neglect. After researching dentists in my area I chose Garden State Smiles in North Brunswick, NJ. Their professionalism,care, and attention to detail made my visit less scary than I anticipated. Normally, I dread the dental office-hence why I have skipped prior work that was needed. They made it clear that there should be no embarrassment (even with my lapse in visit times), and they will do all they can to get my smile back on track! I barely felt any of the work being done today. I have had experiences with previous dental offices that conjured memories of pain and anxiety. My treatment today was top notch as always. Ruth my dental Tech, put her careful expertise to work providing me with the best cleaning I have ever had at any dental office. She was caring and explained all she was doing to both clean and brighten my teeth. Ruth also took extreme care while doing multiple X-Rays, and told me all she was doing prior to executing her work. Dr. Parikh came in next and set me up with a detailed treatment plan to ensure the pain in my bite disappears forever. Dr. Parikh was also very kind in altering her own schedule to better accommodate my own. Dr. D always took great care of me. It's nice to know he has built up the practice with a group of incredible people who make everything seem alright. Thank you to the administrative team at the front desk for explaining all I needed to know, clearly and with no questions left unanswered. I'd be lying to say I am looking forward to tons of dental work. I think Dr. D.is wonderful! I highly recommend him to people in the area. I actually don't live in the area but my family (husband/father-in-law) is very comfortable with him so we make the 25-30 minute travel. His staff is also very friendly and experienced. All his dental assistants are VERY nice as well- I have had some very awkward dental assistants, and it is definitely not the case here. As for Dr. D, he is very patient, honest, and smiles during your entire visit. I did have cavity fillings and I did some laughing gas to calm me... had a bit of irritation after it was done, but it absolutely subsided. When I have something extremely cold, I feel something, but I think that just means I need sensodyne- and not really Dr. D's fault. Visit him for sure--- at least for a consultation- you will not be disappointed with his professionalism. read more

I had the worst dental experience I've ever had here. I was told I needed x-rays and a cleaning so we proceeded with both. Once my cleaning was completed I noticed one of my teeth was extremely loose and hurt a lot. When I called the office to let them know I was told that happens some times and it should resolve itself in a few weeks. Well it didn't. I went back to the dentist and was told he could wire them together until the one that was loose wasn't anymore and if that didn't work we could always pull it. I wasn't happy but I said okay let's try it because I didn't want to loose the tooth. Before we started the procedure the billing person came into the room and told me it would cost $365. I was livid - I asked why are you attempting to charge me for something that your employee caused? At that point I said I'm done and I'm not continuing to have any work done here. Before I left the office I was told there wasn't going to be any charge and he was sorry that I was displeased. I thought I was done with them but yesterday I received a bill in the mail for (you guessed it) $365. How dare them - they're lucky I haven't sued them! read more

Whatever you do DO NOT make your appt through ZocDoc. The office is unprepared to handle any appointments not scheduled directly with them. I had a 5:30 appt and I had to wait 2 hours (no joke)! They could tell I was very unhappy with the wait time which is why I felt so disrespected when I was not given a full cleaning. A woman at the front desk asked the Dentist on duty if she should do my xrays right before mentioning she wasn't even licensed to do so!!!! Dr. Patel did my cleaning himself, he was very nice don't get me wrong, but I was out of there in 15 minutes after he got started! He did not floss my teeth or apply a fluoride. I am so disappointed at the poor service I received after patiently waiting 2 hours past my scheduled service time! Like most people, the dentist is not my favorite place to be, but if I make the trip, and pay the money, I expect them make good on their end and clean my teeth! I came here because all of the positive reviews, but I am very reluctant to return after my rushed, half way cleaning that was provided by Dr. Patel himself. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! My mom went here. He told her she needed a root canal and cap. She has no insurance. He charged her $2000. She complained of pain for months. He kept saying nothing was wrong and kept shaving the new crown, until the metal shown through. The last time she went back, he admitted he could not find two of the four roots and could not do the work. He refused to refund her money and only offered to pay for someone else to do it and referred her somewhere. They told her that it is a wisdom tooth and could either have it extracted or they could attempt to complete the root canal but won't guarantee success. If she knew this in the first place, she would have opted for the extraction. But he was looking to rip off an old lady with no insurance, lied to her and was in over his head. read more
