I have been wanting to write a review for awhile now but couldn't find how to do it on my I-phone…read moreso now am able to do it using my I-pad! First of all I have to say that this shop, and Lisa Fletcher, who is the owner, is amazing! Lisa has done a fantastic job of remodeling this old store, painting and decorating so as to present a beautiful clean and artsy environment for patrons to come in and browse around and enjoy her pleasant and friendly company and learn about quilting! And, I might add, benefit from her expansive knowledge and expertise reference to quilting! Also, of course, to purchase any item you might need for your quilting and sewing needs. It is not only very pleasing to the eye when you first walk in, but is also full of beautiful fabrics, and all things associated with quilting and sewing. The shop is decorated with excellent taste to include displayed antique sewing machines, wall hangings of beautifully crafted antique quilts (several which are her family heirlooms) and many other delightful items. Lisa showcases quite a lot of other items for sale that are provided by local artisans! For example, I purchased some beautiful smelling homemade soaps as Christmas gifts for my friends! This shop is such a great and much needed lovely addition to our small downtown area shops, some of which are old, unkempt, empty and just plain in need of some care and updating! So, I for one, am very pleased that Lisa Fletcher has chosen her hometown of Elizabethton to display her craft and share with us her knowledge and skills. She has completed one quilt for my husband and me and is working on another one, both started by my husband's grandmother, but never finished. These quilts have been made beautiful by Lisa Fletcher! Thank you, Lisa, we are glad you are here!

They have always been responsive, dependable, and talented in making some of the most beautiful arrangements that I have ever seen. These qualities were important to me since I lived in the Washington DC and Seattle, WA areas over the years and I needed a florist that I could trust. Their prices are very reasonable and they deliver great value for the money whether the occasion is a funeral, birthday, holiday, or any other flower-worthy event.

A week passed and I hadn't heard from my friend so I called her and asked if she had received the flowers. She hadn't received them so I called the House of Flowers and was told that they didn't deliver the flowers because the item we purchased "wasn't in bloom". They never called me to let me know the order hadn't been filled according to my wishes. They didn't let me, the customer, decide if I wanted to wait or cancel the order or make another selection. Now, a week later, I had to call them to find out what happened. If I hadn't called, I have no idea when or if they would have delivered my gift. They never apologized. In the future I'll go to Boone or Elizabethton if I want to send someone flowers.

At a loss for any kind of meaningful gift without personal access to N95 masks and other PPEs, I decided to restock her art supplies. Maybe this old love would give a little light. I combed online options to avoid stores and post office. Then I thought to support a local business in my daughter's chosen community. Art Mart & Academy is just minutes from her home. The store was not officially open, but the owner responded to my email. John talked with me at length about what I was looking for, texted me photos and was very helpful in matching the types and quality of products I'd selected online. Though he had no gift bags, he managed to find a sweet way to package all the items then texted me a photo to see if "the presentation" was ok. He also kept the required social distance from my son-in-law during pick-up. He kept a sense of humor, too. Art is a good thing to do in COVID-times. John will help you start or get better. Art Mart and Academy has customer service and the goods!
