Had a nice stay at Four Fillies Lodge. The cabins aren't your typical cabins. They are very nice…read morebut very modern and not rustic whatsoever. I am good with that but if you are looking for more of a cabin experience this isn't it. The room was clean and comfortable. We liked having the kitchen and large windows and deck area. You are right next to a creek which is also nice. My only dislikes is that it is not as private as I would have liked it to be. You are close to the other cabins and right across the creek are homes that can easily see into your cabin.

My husband and I stumbled across the Four Fillies Lodge website and decided to give it a try. They…read moreoffer pet friendly cabins at a decent rate which was a huge plus. We stayed at the Fishing Creek cabin that sleeps six and has a small kitchenette with Wi-Fi. This cabin is also Creekside and has chairs with the fire pit set right next to the creek. The cabin was super clean. The beds weren't the greatest, but they weren't terrible either. To fish the creek it's $25 per person per day, but the creek is stocked and we caught plenty of trout. My husband and I would definitely stay here again and are looking forward to coming back. The only negative was that Four Fillies offers add-ons to the reservation such as in cabin massages or cake pops waiting in the cabin upon arrival. We booked for and paid for both of these add-ons provided, but received neither as the massage therapist canceled and the bakery where the cake pops come from was closed the day of our arrival we did however get a refund.

They're all operated by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and open 24/7, with amenities like restrooms, vending, picnic areas, and pet zones--though overnight parking isn't officially allowed beyond a few hours. Recently, we were travelling through northbound on I-81 and decided to stop at the one by Christiansburg. The sign at the location said that it is at Mile 108 North. It is a pull-off with truck parking closer to the road and car parking closer to the forest. There is a single building with restrooms. There are about 50 car parking spots. There are picnic tables around the land adjacent to the building. We went there in fall but during the spring the trees must provide some great shade for the tables and buildings. The area was busy when we stopped by but seemed clean and well maintained both in the restroom and around the walkways. Overall, a nice easy-on/easy-off rest area.

Wow! My honey and I visited the Inn at Riverbend a couple of weekends ago and was blown away. A+++!…read moreThe property and location are picture perfect. I've visited many B&Bs but this one is by far the best. The rooms are very well appointed. My favorites were the sheets {seriously.. and you can purchase them!} and the soaking tub! The common living areas are modern, warm and inviting -- and well kept, which can be an issue with B&Bs. Be sure to peek in on the kitchen if you appreciate culinary spaces. There was a lovely couple that were "Inn Sitters" during our visit and they were a delight. Aside from being super nice and great cooks, they were very knowledgeable about the Inn, available activities and the surrounding town. We had the pleasure of meeting Jim on our last morning. Jim was great but he definitely left us in the right hands with his Inn Sitters! I highly recommend Inn at Riverbend. Hopefully we'll be back this Summer.

But once we got there, it was beautiful! The lake was stunning. We stayed 2 nights - Thurs/Fri. I wished we could have stayed longer but it was booked. We mostly went out on the canoe and fished. My husband was obsessed with the fire pit. There weren't any spiders in the house so I was grateful lol. We were 20 minutes from civilization. You can get groceries from either Food Lion or Walmart. There aren't a lot of restaurants unfortunately. The closest cafe only had breakfast on the weekends so we had to venture further. I'm a luxury kinda gale. I love staying in a nice hotel. I understand this kinda place isn't a hotel, but if they're claiming luxury, they need to step it up some. I was expecting a little more Pottery Barn and less grandma's house. The place would have been perfection except for a couple things - needed better shower heads, towels, bath mats, bathroom rugs. The chair cushions on the balcony were dirty and they need to move the sofa closer to the tv in the living room. However the rest of the house was downright cute and cozy. Overall, I had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this place.
