The place is a riot of colour, and mesh tutus. If your little girl is a bit of a tomboy who only wants to wear her jeans and a T-shirt you'll be able to cross the threshold safely! Probably. Maybe. Otherwise, stand well back, and step away slowly ... If you can. This street is renowned among ex-pat mothers (I'm pretty sure the 'locals' love it too but I'm not connected to too many on Facebook) as a source of cheap and cheerful outfits for little girls who are going to grow out of anything before the next Disney movie comes out, and this is a good place to start. Of course keep your eye out for inappropriate, or just plain wrong (not always the same thing) English language on dresses and T-shirts - although lets face it, sometimes that's half the fun ... especially if they are going to be gifts. Don't for a second think you're safe on the 'shoe' side either! I only just managed to escape without purchasing a pair of pink Dora the Explorer sandals (with flashing lights in the soles). There's a pretty extensive range of children's footwear - boys and girls - on offer and at prices that mean you won't be for-going your daily coffee fix to fund a new pair when the little dear has outgrown their favourite Thomas the Tank Engine sneakers in a matter of weeks. I'm going to be heading back again when the current crop of shoes no longer fit - I just hope Dora and her disco lights have sold out.

This is such a lovely store. Before I headed to H&M yesterday evening I had a better look around…read moreQueen's Road East. There are plenty of fashion boutiques around there but the style varies from one to the next however most of them carry cute dresses and accessories. As I looked up from across the street I saw 'MID SEASON SALE' advertised on a window glass in the first floor of an old building. So I crossed the street and decided to see what it was about, as there were both children and women clothes on display. I came up the stairs and was surprised by the entrance of the store. You have to ring the bell to get in. There were no customers there at that time and around five members of staff! As this is the end of the season they only had a few pieces of clothing in a hanger: exclusive and design dresses in plain black, white and pink; cute two pieces original suits; lace skirts and accessories. One of the girls showed me around, very friendly and helpful. She suggested I come back in September, as that's when they're receiving all the new clothes for next season. Looking at price tags, I realized they were pretty expensive, but they're now half price (so hurry up!). On the other side of the shop there were children clothes, but I didn't really have a look. All I could see is that they were extremely cute ones! And possibly very unique, given the style of the shop. They aren't easy to find both offline (because of location, and lack of advertising on street level!) or online but they do have such a nice space and website, worth checking out!

If you're looking for work wear, Uniqlo is the place to be. The main section of Uniqlo has every kind of clothing item possible and in every color possible. You can probably pick up the same v-neck t-shirt in about seven different colors here. Uniqlo specializes in basics, but they have a section where they partner with brands that you would think are pretty unimaginable in the clothing industry. They've partnered with Campbell - yes, the soup - before, and they had a series of t-shirts with different soup cans on them. Strange, but you'd be surprised that they're actually popular! The more common themes they've done are cartoons like Snoopy, Tom and Jerry and Mickey Mouse. Last year, they collaborated with UK furniture store Laura Ashley - while the patterns were nice, all the tops kind of looked like table cloth to me! I guess this is the section for the more quirky of the personalities - I don't know about you, but the idea of being a walking advertisement for Campbell soup is not for me. The quality of clothes at Uniqlo is good, but they wear out after a while. Uniqlo has a pretty big sleepwear section, stocking sets in cute and colorful prints. They feel really good too - the quality is kind of like velour. I've bought a couple of sets over the years and find that with repeated washes, the material hardens and results in little raised fur balls (for the Cantonese-speaking, the colloquial term is 'hei mo' or 起毛). I've bought cardigans here before and this didn't happen, and I can't speak for t-shirts because I don't own any from here. Perhaps it's just the velour-like material that causes this to happen over time? You'll be glad to know that Uniqlo is quite affordable - a typical t-shirt is $99, and a hoodie probably $199. The reason I don't buy from Uniqlo more often is because I find that their stuff is a little baggy and lacks cutting. Otherwise, Uniqlo is a great place to stock up on basics at an affordable price!

Men be careful with the size as they are non standard. Try them on first as although I wear medium to large most tmes, it was XL at Uniqlo. There is a good selection of kids and women clothes as well. Nice place to shop.
