Vegetarian dumplings and vegetarian soup perfection with a side of bok choy and chili
    Foodie E.

VEGETARIANS!! The vegetarian/vegan dumplings here are so freaking delicious. The vegetarian soup was also just as good and I definitely can't leave out the crispy tofu! Mushroom Dumplings for the win with a side of their chili sauce. You cannot try this place without asking for the side of chili sauce. It's amazing. The quality and flavors were on point with traditional Chinese food. The texture of the dumplings is so perfect that it will give you a foodgasm along with everything else this place has to offer. True gem of Copenhage

What if I told you that you can get freshly steamed, fried, or grilled handmade dumplings on Blågårdsgade right between a taqueria and all the bars? When I moved here nearly 8 years ago, I would have called you crazy and probably also would have chewed you out for getting my hopes up. I tried the Hong Kong (55 dkk) option, which consists of 6 steamed pork and cabbage dumplings. The wrappers had a few small holes, which is a shame since the lovely soup drained out into the paper container they were served in. Hopefully this is just due to their recent opening, and will be fixed soon. They tasted very good but if you want more salt or spice, there is Sriracha and soy sauce on the table. I also got the cold noodles (30 dkk), which were equally delicious in a tangy nut (I'm guessing peanut?) sauce and brightened with a good punch of cilantro. It's great for a warm day and is bulked up with julienned carrots and cucumber. The noodles were just a little al dente. When you get an order of dumplings with a side, it costs 75 dkk so you save 10 dkk. Do I feel like I am back in Hong Kong when eating here? Not really, but it is very good and I already can't wait to come back to try the Hong Kong Waffle!

I wish I would be more impressed, but I wasn't. Dumplings, what's not to like? However, you couldn't exactly compare these dumplings those made in dimsum restaurants. Far from it. The dumplings were carelessly made, sticking to the paper tray making them difficult to pick up, not to mention they broke every time you tried to pick them up, making it double the challenge for people who does not have chopstick skill worthy of showing off. First of all, the choices are not many - Hong Kong, Spicy (vege) and Vegetarian . Since we wanted meat, we got the Hong Kong one. I got grilled bokchoy with garlic (seriously, why all the side dish are cold and how difficult it is to make grilled bok choy with garlic as warm dish? It would've been amazing instead). Bri R who was a vegetarian and allergic to peanut dined with us and although she stressed that she didn't want any peanuts in her dumplings, she found one which the girl behind the counter said that it must have been sesame seeds. Girl, I know the difference between sesame seeds and peanuts.... All in all, I'm happy that there's a dumpling bar in town. Seriously, what's better than getting dumpling and cold noodle / grilled bok choy snack in some afternoon with friends and wash it with some obscure pilsner? That beats getting a røde pølser at anytime, but for actual dumpling eating, I'd rather go to Royal Garden, Fu Hao or the likes where dumplings-making is more professional. ....and please be aware if you're allergic, they apparently don't take it seriously.

My friend scouted out this cute dumpling spot in Nørrebro. Casual and inexpensive. We tried the chicken dumplings, mushroom dumplings, fried tofu with spicy mayo and bok choy. Everything was super tasty! The dumplings seem to be first boiled, then browned on one side on a skillet so they were nice and browned. The fried tofu was amazing! The exterior of each nugget was crunchy and golden while the interior was fluffy like a soufflé. We could've skipped the bok choy but wanted to round out the meal with a veggie.

It was a cold and windy Copenhagen day and we needed the comfort food and a warm place to eat dinner after a long day of sightseeing. We ordered the beef with housemade rice noodles, the sizzling chicken with veggies, and the beef fried noodles with veggies, along with the chicken hot and sour soup. EVERYTHING was delicious. The food ingredients were high quality and fresh and every dish was perfectly seasoned (just needed a little salt or soy sauce to taste). Then we shared the fried banana with ice cream for dessert! It was an absolutely wonderful way to end our meal. More great flavors. The waitstaff was kind, welcoming and accommodating. We didn't have reservations, but we were still able to easily get a table on a Sunday night at 7:00. The restaurant was filled with happy diners of couples, friends and families. And it's a very pretty and very comfortable place to relax and have a wonderful meal. We would certainly return and would highly recommend the Royal Garden. AND they have a huge dim sum menu for those looking for dim sum!

If you're a tourist and are looking for the best local foodie spots in town, head to MAOBAO. I have yet to try everything on the menu but my top items so far are: Hong Kong Pulled Pork Bao 5/5 Pork & Shrimp Chili Wontons 5/5 Duck Breast & Cashew Cream 5/5 I've also tried the Chicken & Garlic Chive Dumplings, Celeriac Bao, and Ice Cream Bao, which are all delicious but the above 3 were by far the top contenders. If you're feeling wild, they also offer a 7-course chef's menu for 310/person. Prices are standard for Copenhagen, I just wish they didn't charge for tap water. Already planning my next visit!

MAOBAO, where art thou?…read more The only bad thing about this place is that they're never around when you're having ultimate craving for fluffy white bao with pork fillings and peanut crumblings on it. No, seriously bro - what's an Asian girl got to do here to have an easy access to those divine baos? I have tried baos here and there, but MAOBAO wins the fluffiest bao competition hand down although the fillings can be better varied, but I ain't complaining here. With the price of 60 kr for two baos, it's a little bit steep everywhere else but Denmark (well, maybe not Norway but I am not even sure if there are baos up there in the arctic circle) but I would definitely shut up and let them take my money. For now, I would just have to stalk them on social media to find out where they're going to appear next.

All the food is pretty good, but largely fried or greasy. this is NOT Veggie friendly, AT ALL. Skip it, vegans/vegetarians.. There are a few items that are vegetarian, but not worth the 128 DKK price. If you eat seafood, or are a full on meat eater, you would do fine here. Lots of Thai curries, fried spring rolls, dumplings, tempura, sushi, and more. The people that work here are fine enough, but they tend to talk to each other in Chinese and you don't know what is really going on (but I do ;) They are good about coming by and clearing your plates regularly as well. Their soft serve ice cream dessert station is pretty awesome. It's just vanilla in cups, but there's 4 different sauces and 6 different toppings. I made 2 sundaes! Yum I didn't get sick here, so that's a good thing, yeah? This place is always busy so I feel like they go through a lot of product quickly and as a result, it's likely anything ever goes bad... So at least you're safe on that front.
