No good photos really inside the train. When you get to the top, thats the view you want. There are a lot of seating or possible seating areas around the place. In the summer, I can see it has a chilling spot. During the winter, staying up there with high winds and low temperatures felt like icicles to the face. I only stayed up there for probably 10 minutes. Then I went back down. There is a cafe at the top and a nice restaurant as well. You can order the tickets to stop at the midpoint and you can hike up. That looks much more doable than hiking from the bottom up. It has a lot of twist and turns.

The last gallery has the Last Dance restaurant & exhibit about the AID's crisis in the 1980's & the cruising scene around the corner. We paid $15 per person for admission to all four art buildings. We could've spent a week here but prioritize Norweigan art that we can't see at home. A lot of construction wowed taking place in front of each museum building and they actually looked like they were closed. I was surprised at how empty the museum galleries were. I appreciate the individual lockers to hang my bag and jacket while exploring the exhibits.

Apparently it's been rebuilt several times over the centuries due to fires and such, so it's like an HGTV program on a constant loop. I also noticed otherwise normal housewives turn into cheek-sucking fashion models posing against the aged planks for their Instagram moments. The guided tour which started here was fantastic! The museum itself was excellent as well…read more We purchased our tour tickets about 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. We milled around the lobby/gift shop while we waited for the tour to start. We took one of the two English language tours offered. The group ended up being rather large, totaling near 20 people. Our tour guide was excellent at speaking to the size of the group, her command of English was excellent, and she really knew her facts. The tour started in the Bryggen museum, where she spent some time explaining the building methods on the wharf and the constant risk of fires in the area. The museum included some original building foundations as well as the original parts of the wharf, it has since been extended. The tour then went through parts of the wharf and finished in the Hanseatic Museum (also a worthy stop). If you are unfamiliar or a bit rusty with the details of the Hanseatic Trading League, this museum and tour are a wonderful refresher course. Once the tour was over, if you kept wearing the tour sticker, you could go back and revisit the museums for the remainder of the day (which makes the tour an excellent value as it included the admission). We wandered upstairs, when it was much less crowded to look over both the permanent and temporary exhibits. We left feeling better informed about how life was during the Hanseatic era. I would highly encourage visiting this museum.

While the museum is not a very long experience, it does have beautiful views showcasing Norway's glassy waters as you walk down to Edvard's composing cabin. As a musician, I'm envious of the way his home also has a concert hall right next door. We even watched a piano recital after our visit to the museum and had a lovely evening.
