Needed to get a digital code for a DLC. I called ahead and told the guy I would like to buy part of it with a gift certificate I earned with my membership points. After both asking if that would work and then walking through my process with him about how I wanted to use this specific certificate to buy the digital code, he said yes on both accounts that I could buy it this way. Next morning I walk in with the certificate to make my purchase. At the checkout, the worker (who was friendly and very helpful) told me that the certificate I got was not compatible with digital codes. At this point it is too late for me to get a different certificate with my membership points, and the employee understood I had called yesterday and had gotten confirmation that my transaction would work. He owed his co-worker's mistake and only charged me the difference as if my certificate did work. While I was not happy to be given the wrong information by the first worker, I was very impressed by the professionalism and integrity of the second. Placed an online order for in store pickup as that was the method I preferred but more importantly it was the only option available. Somehow, their system processed it as shipping instead with the shipping address being THE STORE'S ADDRESS. Make that make sense. Called customer service. Could barely understand the person as it sounded like there were 500 people screaming in the background. Of course, she couldn't fix the order or even cancel it. Called the store and they were as helpful flip flops in a rainstorm. Completely clueless like they don't even work there. As of now, it's been a week and there are zero shipping updates and I've yet to receive an email reply or any sort of notifications. Best part? I hate giving bad reviews but this location has just gone to complete crap since Shawn left. Today I walked into a very disorganized store which only had one person working on a Saturday. I had already purchased my order online and needed to just pick it up. The one person working seemed to be in no hurry at all while 4 of us waited in line as he had a full conversation going on as we waited, not specific to helping check the customer out and move on to the next. Then as I showed him my order number he asked me to move to the side and wait so he could check out the person behind me. My original thought was that him going to the back must be a process since he asked me to wait considering I was the next person in line. The customer he took care of behind me asked if he could have a bag and the employee said "yea, they are over there, just get you one." Wow! My jaw dropped as a witnessed this. Then he asked to see my number again and walked to the door, opened it, and handed me my purchase in 5 seconds. So what was the reason you checked the man out behind me first?? I am usually a very patient person but this was very strange. I wondered if it was a form of sexism as I was the only female in the place. The employee had super bright spray paint in his hair that looked like rainbows which to me, is inappropriate and unprofessional as well. First--very low stock of games during the holiday season. Forney had a pretty good selection, this store basically had none of the top games of 2021. Second tried to trade in a PS4 here and the manager couldn't get it working and then implied that it was broken and even if I was able to get it working he wouldn't take it as a trade-in. Brought it home and worked immediately--must've been user error on his part. Ridiculous. Traded it in elsewhere. Third I ordered a new Steelbook game online and it was shipped to me without shrink wrapping. Decided to return it without opening it, but same manager refused because there wasn't shrink wrapping, despite my explanation. Had to call Gamestop corporate to get the return shipped back (at greater cost to the company--and his store didn't even have this game in stock!). Anyways, go to the Forney store. read more

I always get pretty good service here and maybe it's because I come in so often. Ooops! I am always greeted and usually helped immediately when I come in. This location is not dark and dingy like some of the other locations I have been to in the area. I have never had issues shopping here, even when I brought in a pre owned game that didn't work when I got it home. I do have a complaint about the pre owned prices here but that is a GameStop policy, and has nothing to do with the store. It seems like they have fairly high turnover which is typical in retail but despite that I have always gotten great service. Preordered a game from here and paid in full. Was told to return on the release day at 9:00pm to pickup my game. Showed at 9:15pm and was told I was too late and that I should have came earlier to get a ticket...etc. So basically just buy your game online or from Best Buy. I pre-ordered a game here with a special collector's edition. I arrived the day after to pick it up only to find that it wasn't there and apparently someone sold it. That in and of itself justifies the 2 stars, but there's more to it. One of the guys here managed to get another copy shipped from another store and put his neck out there to offer us a discount when he wasn't supposed to for our trouble. So thank you, you know who you are. The female manager, however, was extremely rude to us when we came in to pick it up once it finally arrived and tried to explain what we were told about the situation. It's not OUR fault you messed up and sold our game which we reserved. It's YOUR fault. Regardless of whether the system messed up or an employee messed up, it's the fault of the store, not us, that we got the game half a week late. I really have no other way to describe it other than she was a real bitch to us. She did end up giving us the discount that was offered to us, which I appreciate, but in the end I think both of us wanted to reach around the counter and punch her. I think I will take my business elsewhere, if for no other reason than to avoid having to deal with her again, even if it's just to check out a purchase. read more

Terrible policies and even worse customer service. I have been a loyal customer here for years and I have purchased several consoles and games here through the years. I'm sure I've spent well over $3000 through the years. I recently purchased a PS4 500GB system for $199 plus about $200 worth of controller and games about 3 weeks ago. I noticed that Costco has a 1TB PS4/Battlefields II combo for only $239 which is a much better deal. So I contacted the store and spoke with John the assistant manager to see if I could get a price match and I was informed that they do not offer any price match and that I cannot return the console either. I proceeded to tell the fellow that I have been a loyal customer there for years and he replied "well that's our policy" I informed him that I would leave a negative review on Google and his callous reply was "You're more than welcome to leave a negative review". On a few occasions I've been in this store and it seems that most of the staff are rude. I could not see what the customer service representative was today but he was very rude. When I asked to purchase a used Xbox game ($44.99), he attempted to give me a game that had a laser burn on it. When I asked to see the disc prior to him putting it in the case, he seemed put out. He said,"No it's not." and I asked if they had any other discs available. He reluctantly went down to check the cabinet and pulled out another disc. This one was in working condition. This whole ordeal seemed to have put him out and he was not happy with me requesting a working game with no scratches. Not to mention, I was second in line and it took me over 16 minutes to get to the counter. Once I was at the counter and after the scratched disc ordeal, I swiped my CC and the screen went blank. He said, oops. He'll have to help you pointing to the rep beside him which was talking away with the customer and slowly checking in used games. Asked that they just take my money and give me the item I was trying to purchase. The original rep stated, "It's not my fault it's the machine." I told him that I didn't care and to please just make the purchase so I could leave the store. This is not the first time a representative has been rude and moved slower than a snail in that store. Also, this is not the first time they have tried to sell me a game with a laser burn. BAD BUSINESS! I'm not satisfied with their service and will not be returning to that store. I love this Gamestop! The quality of the store is amazing! The staff is always kind! The manager, Sean, really cares about his customers. He knows names, what we tend to look for, and always does it with a smile. This store is fantastic! I've never had a problem with this Gamestop! I have been a long time Funko Pop collector and I will only buy from Gamestop, especially the Rockwall location! If I could give zero stars I would. TERRIBLE customer service, nor do they care. My son bought a game without their "warranty". GTA5 did not work and I called within 2 hours of buying it. I was told that since its open its used and they would not exchange it for a working copy OR give a refund since my son did not buy their warranty. Probably will not be back. Came in to sell my xbox 360 with a wired controller. Was told by a friend that works at the greenville location that they will take the controller as long as it works. So I go in with my hands full and speak to Sean. He immediately tells me that he wont take the system because the controller isnt wireless & that it was policy. I had just sold them ALL of my wireless controllers the week prior and no one mentioned this "policy" to us. So I text my friend and she is completely unaware of this policy and told me to ask if it was new. I asked Sean and he was rude and told me he just wont take it and whoever I was talking to at the Greenville location was wrong & that he knew all of them and they wouldnt tell me that. So we leave and go straight to the Greenville location where we are taken care of. I was also informed that Sean called the Greenville location to "warn" them of me coming. I put 2k18 on reserve 7/7/17. I came back to put more money down 8/9/17. They told me they couldn't see it in the system. I had to put it on reserve again. Also he to me to bring the receipt. 2 days later I show up with the receipt. They say it's still not in there. The accused me of coming in there and taking the game off reserve and using the money for something else. They totally accused me of scamming when I clearly have my receipt. Shopping at GameStop makes thankful for the internet. The process is royal beating. On average you can not simply go in and quickly purchase anything they sell. Lines are long, sales pitches from these meathead kids all part of the weakness of this dying breed of stores. My friends all buy digital or w online retailers and while I should be doing this I'm still going to their store. But after last night trying to sell an iPhone I'm leaving this chain who I've shopped at since it's inception. It's just a beating to shop there.
