Came here a few months ago to trade in my PS5 and games. The employee that was originally helping me was nice but the manager waited until I got everything out and ready to tell me that they weren't currently doing trade ins. The employee seemed totally clueless about that which leads me to believe that the manager just made that rule up on the spot. I'm guessing he probably thought I was trying to sell a stolen PS5. I took it to another location and had no problem. Ended up using the store credit for a bunch of Switch 2 games and a pro controller. I will never go to the MacArthur location again. Got my Switch from here refurbished. After of month of use, I got the Orange screen of death. I had the protection plan so luckily I was able to bring it in and could get a (new) refurbished one. This location didn't have that in stock but Carson was adamant on contacting another store that had showed it to be there. He called multiple times but the other store didn't answer. He then gave me a a list of stores that displayed it was in stock. I appreciated Carson and this location to try its best to help. They are really knowledgeable about all gaming. And I eventually was able to trade them out. read more

In such a competitive retail space, these guys (and girls) deliver. Sometimes it pays to have brick and mortar because the customer service and flexibility is great. And they love what they do. I've been to several GameStop in my day and from time to time, I still do. I've read and listened to many horror stories about GameStop practices, but I never experienced this myself. Every GameStop I shopped at, the clerks have always helped me out if I needed it. As annoying as it is, they tried pushing a preorder or whatever the hot item is at the time. What do you do, it's their job to sell things or offer you deals. So the day the Xbox One was announced at E3, I went over the GameStop to preorder a console and two games. As everyone knows, people were all up in arms with Microsoft's DRM policy, which I was okay with. A week later, as everyone knows, MS changed their policy. Since installing the game from disc to hard drive was not an option anymore, I went back to GameStop and wanted to cancel the two games I ordered. The clerk that was there told me that it was required to preorder one Xbox One game to be able to pre-order the Xbox One console. I thought to myself "this kind of bullshit policy never existed!" So I went ahead and cancelled one game and kept one game on order just to please the employee. Seriously, in all the years I purchased games and a console, requiring a game to be preordered to preorder a console was never a requirement. That same day I emailed GS corporate and told them the story. A few days later, I received a call from the district manager and I explained the situation. After our conversation, he made it clear that there's no policy that a game is required to pre-order an Xbox One console. Currently, I still have the Xbox One game on preorder but I plan on cancelling it before launch. For the ones asking why I want to cancel the games, it's because I want to go all digital on the next-gen console. Since the DRM policy was changed, playing diskless is no longer possible if you buy the game at a retail store. So my one bad experience at this particular location is a warning to everyone else. Don't believe or rely on the employee's opinion or knowledge. They are not your friend. They are there to make money for the company. There's also one older salt/pepper haired chunky guy that works there that rubbed me the wrong way. One day I traded some games in and I asked for the credit to be placed on my card for a later purchase. For some reason, this request really bothered the shit out of him because he rolled his eyes directly at me as if I personally insulted him. Since then, I try to avoid this douchebag. If I knew his name, I would call him out on it here, but you'll know who he is when you see him. read more

Travis and Ariella are the two employees I typically deal with, they help me with my trade-ins( I know it is a pain with how many I have sometimes, but they are cool about it anyways). They have always had my pre-order stuff ready to go. They make me forget about the questionable practices of the corporate side of gamestop( for those of you who don't know, Gamestop is looked upon as the scumbag of game retail, just YouTube a few videos). Horrible pre-order customer service experience!! I pre-ordered a game at this location and the store manager Jay told me earlier this month that I would be able to pick it up yesterday. However, when I went here to pick up the game, Jay told me that they had sold the game to someone else. He then claimed that "he didn't remember me," that "he didn't remember talking to me," and that "he never would have told me that they could hold the game that long." It's just ridiculous. I have been a longtime GameStop customer and I have spent so much money at this store, and at other GameStop locations. I have been a good customer here, and I followed their instructions with the pre-order and made the required deposit for the game. When I was unable to pick it up on release day, I acted responsibly and called them to ask that they hold the game until 12/21. Over the phone, Jay promised that they would hold the game until 12/21, and that it would be at the store for me to pick up at that time. However, this turned out to be a lie because they sold the game to someone else. Not only did the manager Jay lie to me on the phone, but he also refused to do more to compensate me for the loss. The game I pre-ordered was a Christmas gift, and it is sold out online. When I said that I still wanted the game, Jay and an associate at the store said they could order from one store that still had a copy, but they refused to ship the game overnight to guarantee delivery before Christmas. They also did not offer any kind of discount or in-store credit for my inconvenience. I have been a loyal customer at this store and I have spent so much money here prior to this experience. I followed the instructions for participating in the pre-order, and there were no rules in the pre-order preventing the game from being held until 12/21. I paid the deposit and they promised that the game would be there for me to pick up, yet they sold it to someone else without telling me. They took my money, lied to me, and then I got nothing in return. The low level of customer service that I received here is shocking. I will no longer be shopping at this GameStop location. As a lifelong gamer, I realize that there are many other merchants to buy video games from. I never experienced bad video game customer service like this at Best Buy, Walmart, or Target. I will choose to buy from them from now on, and I will never buy from this GameStop again. read more

Yah, I still play video games. What else am I gonna do living alone where I don't know nobody!?!? My old 360 died, kinda. The HDMI output stopped working. I do love my 360 and had recently bought some more used games. I buy used games online wicked cheap and send them to my friends' son when I'm done with them. Anyhow I got Skyrim and was dying to try it so I had to re-buy another 360. Ugh. Anyhow I went here and was hoping to pick one up used for $150. That's the going rate at other GameStops that I've seen. The guy here said used was $180 and new was $200. Whatever. I bought a new one. The new ones are designed to look like the XBOX One and run SUPER QUIET, so that was cool. Initially I took it home and couldn't get it to work so I actually took it back to the store thinking it was a dud. But it was I who was the dud because you have to hook it up old-school and THEN switch it to an HDMI output. I thought it would auto-sense that I had an HDMI cable plugged in but I guess now. Anyhow after all that nonsense it's working fine. Runs hot and freezes when it does - but that's been typical for 360s that I've owned. Yah I been through several. I'm a gamer. read more

I went in shopping Gamestop action figure exclusives; the options were pretty sparse and picked clean of the popular toys. The staff was conversational and somewhat helpful; but I completely understand that toys and collectibles aren't their primary seller. However, I still walked out with a positive impression of my interaction with the crew at this GS location. read more

This is the least helpful GameStop I've ever visited. The employee working there ignores customers often so he can talk to his staff about non work related things and has twice told me he could help me with my requests over the phone only to tell me he actually can't when I actually drive to the store after he's confirmed he can.
