LockedUp ESCAPE GAME - PRISON

LockedUp ESCAPE GAME

I'd never been to an escape room but my niece said they were fun and suggested we go. So now we're…read morebreaking out of jail! It was a thrilling little adventure but we were newbs and it showed. And we made it doubly tough on ourselves by going to a location were the instructions were in a language that 60% of us don't speak fluently. Combine that with with our girls' ability to be distracted and we were bouncing all over the place. We tried all sorts of things that made no sense and were surprisingly sloppy searching for clues. But after a couple assists from the eye in the sky we finally found our groove. We slowed down and went back over things that we were sure we'd already checked and voila, things started to come together. A little teamwork and some out of the box thinking and lo and behold we escaped before our time ran out. Everyone had a ton of fun, it was only $18 per and we got a little something to drink and some free snacks afterwards. The staff were super friendly and they were forgiving when we arrived later than we'd expected. I'd eagerly go again. And my daughter took the whole "escape at any cost" idea a little too much to heart and tried to tear off the top of a locked metal trunk bare handed before the staff had to tell her to lighten up. So to the group that gets the jail after us, if the trunk to the left of the lockers seems a little extra beat up.... I apologize.

I wouldn't recommend this place for an English-speaking group, at least not until they fix their…read moreoutdated website. I tried going to HintHunt with some friends on a recent trip but I ran into a few obstacles that made this difficult, mostly with their online booking site: 1. The site has detailed descriptions of escape rooms, but the rooms you can actually book are different and they don't all have descriptions. 2. Some of the games are at one HintHunt location, and other ones are at a different location nearby, but the website doesn't make this clear. 3. My group only spoke English, and it's not clear whether all of the escape rooms offered on the website are available in English. I think I finally figured out that all of their games are available in English, but I'm still not sure. When you book a room online, it isn't clear whether you're booking it in English or in French. 4. I tried emailing customer support but I never received a reply. I tried going to one of the HintHunt locations to ask these questions and book it directly there, but the person there said it could only be handled through the website. HintHunt sounded like fun, but we ended up doing something else instead.

Whilst in Paris on a stag weekend we decided that we should do something to get our brains working…read moreso we picked Hinthunt as our wholesome activity and it was a great experience overall. At first I was a bit hesitant as I thought with it being in Paris the clues might all be in French or the English translations might make it difficult for us to actually escape but I was wrong. The staff were excellent at explaining the concept and rules of the game. We were a group of 16 and were split in to three teams in different rooms. It was great to be able to compete against the other teams. I don't want to give away the game too much but it was a murder mystery theme and there were loads of really cool mini challenges within the rooms. I have done this sort of thing before but this seemed really well thought out. The game master was great - any time we were off the beaten track he pointed us in the right direction without completely giving everything away - top marks! After you escape or don't escape you can take pictures against a branded back drop and make use of the photo props which we had fun doing.
