This store is now named Warhammer Wollongong, just a note. It's still located at shop 2, Globe Lane in the Wollongong mall.
I honestly adore this store. I have since I was very young. It's always been a high-quality place with excellent products and attentive staff.
The current manager is a great man. He's knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and relaxed; but also professional, and serious when necessary. He is well-mannered and maintains a safe, kid-friendly environment where everyone is happy and treated well.
The facilities for painting and gaming are well organized and can fit a fair amount of people. The atmosphere is one of the best I've known in any retail store, since I was very small. Perhaps I'm a little biased. But I do genuinely enjoy sitting in the store at the work table painting and socialising for hours on end. There are a lot of great regulars that attend that only further add to the delightful atmosphere. The work table is clean and can fit a decent amount of people around it. It's stable and solid and perfect for its purpose.
The gaming tables are always clean and well-maintained. The store-painted miniatures are exquisite and the manager himself (and one of the former managers who the current manager was taught under) has talent himself and offers excellent advice and tips. The game boards are well-made and in accessible spots.
There's a great variety of different models in the store. There are several board games and a nice amount of different races and units to paint. The paint shelf is well-stocked and neatly arranged, with helpful labels. The store offers everything you need for hobbying, including the latest models of clippers, scalpels, files and hand drills; a great range of brush sizes and a useful selection of other supplies such as basing materials. The computer for ordering online works like a charm.
It's also a wonderfully positive and secure environment; perfect for leaving a child to paint. The store keeps clean language and both the regulars (myself included) and the manager make sure to be mindful and protective of any young people present.
Only complaint from me would be that Games Workshop needs to send better/more CDs! read more
