Most games shops are similar, offer a good selection of games for the most popular consoles, the staff are quite knowledgable and helpful. The secondhand games are sometimes priced only a fraction lower than a brand new game. read more

Toys R Us is a brilliant shop, has most your needs for your child under one roof, from birth…read moreupwards. They have a great amount of stock, never had a problem with them holding things back for me until i can pick it up if its large. They have been helpful on the phone and with returns. The only slight thing i dont like about them is that you have to sometimes leave all your bags at the front desk, i can see why but it can be a bit of a faff as sometimes the desk is unmanned for long periods of time. I use this shop for a lot of items, from potty to toys and only come across one faulty item which was soon swapped when i took it back into store.

They have a large selection of toys suitable from birth to teenagers and include all the well known brands. They also have a large entertainment section selling computers, game consoles and music accessories. Or perhaps the large selection of bikes, ride on toys and outdoor equipment is more appealing. Also part of the store is babies r us, which sells everything an empectant mother could want from cots to prams and nursing equipment, highchairs, walkers tec. The staff are all really helpful and friendly and they constantly have fantastic offers on. the best for toy deals and the best for well priced baby equipment in my opinion.

Great for children from 5 to 95. if you shop online you get a 10% discount but it has reasonable prices anyway. They have a cafe too, up a fllight of stairs from womenswear, or up in the lift. The womenswear section has a dorothy perkins, wearhouse, principals and oasis as well as the Debenhams brands such as Rocha John Rocha, Red Herring and my favourite, Julien Macdonald. They regularly have sales of upto 70% off, and it's definately woth catching these early for quality items at bargain prices. The Debenhams Classic section of the store is great for cheap basics, although these items aren't the most beautiful ever, they will be the start of a staple wardrobe. I recently bought a grey pencil skirt for less than £10. It's perfect for work! There is a free personal shopper in the lincoln store, who you can book in advance. She's very good, knowing quickly what will suit you, and she's not at all pushy like some sales women are. She's not intimidating either, I went to her after i put on a lot of weight, i'd gone upto a size 18/20 and didn't know what suited me anymore and she was so kind and patient and showed me so many ways to dress up basic items so i could have a whole new wardrobe without spending much (she even offered to take me out and show me lincoln because i said i'd just moved!) It's a lovely big store, and although it's not really cheap, when the sales are on, some real bargains can be had. They're also very accommodating when it comes to returns of faulty goods etc.

It has a massive range of products; perfumes and cosmetics, watches, jewellery, clothes - mens, womens and childrens, lingerie, toys and games, household goods - cutlery, pots, pans, fabrics, in fact all the sorts of things you'd expect to find in a department store. In Grimsby we have a rather nice House of Fraser Store but I do prefer to come to Lincoln to go to Debenhams because it has everything House of Fraser have and more, it's also laid out better - it almost has a bazaar feel to it with lots of little nooks and crannies where bargains are often to be found, the staff are great too. I must not forget to mention the store restaurant - it blows most other department store restaurants away. The choice is pretty good and the prices aren't bad at all. The layout is pretty good and it is fairly sizeable too, so even when it's busy you can usually find a table and the staff are brilliant - which when you've got a child with you who suddenly decides they are hungry you need fast helpful service and that's exactly what you get.

Anyway, we served ourselves on the shop floor, although nobody approached us, we didnt actually need any help so it wasnt a problem to me. When we got to the till, the lady was really really nice and helpful. She offered us the 3 year insurance, which we took but she took the time to explain to us exactly what to do if things went wrong, giving examples of her using the insurance scheme. All in all it was a very good trip. However I have been there before to get PC's or Laptops and almost walked out in disgust at how long they make you wait. I often know exactly what i want before hand, but the staff try to change your mind and offer you other products and can be pushy about it. Its an average sized PC world with a Tech guys area, I have used them before and although they havent been able to sort it in store, they got it taken away and returned to us in working order in a week which I was pleased with.

The staff, while enthusiastic and quick to ask if they can help weren't able to tell me when they would be restocking the product I was searching for. All in all, a very middle of the road shopping experience, although perhaps if I visited now, the stock levels might be better.
