It had not been dropped or misused, it cracked by itself when charging. The centre refused to take responsibility, refused to provide me with a copy of the warranty, refused to provide me with the screen manufacturers details, refused to provide me with the procedure by which it was repaired, refused a refund. Doing my own research after the event I also believed they did not provide knowledgeable information to my enquiries regarding the fixing of the phone. I am left thinking that they wanted to take the money and did not care if I have a fully functioning phone.

Overcharged at Currys Chester…read more I purchased several items including two phones. One of the phones was the Pixel 9 Pro with £300 off on the ticket. Had to take an important call during checkout, so my wife paid. When I checked the invoice later, the phone had not been reduced by the £300 stated on the ticket. Took it back unopened the next day. The phone ticket had been changed and was back to it's normal price. I approached a member of staff regarding the discount not being applied. At this point the all smiles and "Here to help" turned into Here to make sure you don't get what you were entitled to!!! I was told, they were not calling me a liar, but anyone could walk in and say an item was cheaper the day before and they were charged wrong. They would not check the price ticket which had been swapped earlier that day, would only check what was showing on the system at that point. We hadn't discussed the price, as far as I am concerned if a product says it is £300 cheaper, then it is £300 cheaper, I do not need to discuss it. Also told as I hadn't taken a photo of the offer, they would have honoured it had I done so. I had to prove the price I should have paid, not them ! The whole experieence was unbeleivable. So I returned everything as was not prepared for this type of customer service and to be treated in this way. After all the money our company have spent over the years. Not another penny will come their way.

Like most small computer businesses they tried to meet my requirements with a Q&A session of what i wanted the system to do. I told them i wanted a system to do uni work on and to play media through like dvd's and music but also must have the power to play the odd game or two. A year or so later after i had gained much more knowledge about computers through the internet, friends and general use of mine; i got a programme that told me the spec of my system, which uncovered the truth that Ideal had grossley unpowered my system with budget parts and lied about its capabilities. I have never went back to their shop or told friends too, i was a student with money and they took advantage of me just for the sake of a quick sale. The one star one this review is complementing the service of this service.

This store is rather large and is spread over two floors. It stocks a wide range of stuff for entertainment. On the first floor it stocks typical pop music, albums and singles. You can virtually find any band or album you are looking for, and if you don't you can order it. Towards the back of the store you will find classical music. Upstairs they have a wide range of song books and other music books and games consoles like Playstation, Nintendo Wii and Xbox and all the games for them. Bring the children in here and they definitely won't want to leave.

Personally I think Virgin have the slight edge on HMV in terms of having the cheaper prices for cds and the like. They also do some good deals with games consoles and I bought my Nintendo Wii from here last Christmas when they had them on special offer and it came with a few bundled games, all at a good price. Sales staff also seem to be very knowledgeable of the items that they sell.

I then was told by the manager that I needed two RAM memory cards installed and they would charge me for 2 installations! What a scam. He also told me that they couldn't provide on the spot service as they were busy. However, he then told me they could in fact provide on the spot service if I paid for 'premium' service. The long queueing time, false advertising and pricing scams all lead to a bad consumer experience that should be investigated by the advertising standards association. PC World customer service and marketing teams should be ashamed and embarassed. I hope other people read this so they don't waste their time with PC World, at least at this location anyway. I bet the other stores are comparable in poor service.

Unfortunately they never seem to be the cheapest, especially not when you compare to online retailers. It has been a very long time since I have bought a game in the real world as they just cannot compete with online stores. Game do offer a loyalty card but the points you get are worth so little that you would have to be buying a few games every visit to make it worth saving up for a free one. The staff seem to be ok although you always feel like they are going to come up and try to see you something if you hang around in once spot for too long. Game is a good shop if you want to see what new releases are out or if your other half is shopping somewhere else and you have a few minutes to waste.

Personally I think that the underlying reason for this is that often their prices are much higher than their competitors, and hence people will only use them as a last resort to purchase a particular game after everyone else has sold out. Occasionally they do have some really good packages of consoles and games bundled together that are at a very competitive price, but you need to be quick to get them because they will sell out quick.

You can get hold of little stocking fillers to big bikes. It is situated in the Greyhound retail park with ample free parking. This store is open until late most evenings

We once had to take back a TV/DVD combi, which the DVD part had broken on - we didnt have the box anymore and they just gave us a full refund as there was nothing there we wanted to replace it with :-)
