Now my kids get to enjoy this retro pastime. Located on the middle of town this place is a 5 minutes walk from up on the hill. The people that run it are friendly and talkative, I love that they carry some groceries to compete with the only overpriced grocery store in town. With rentals at 4 dvds for $4 you can't complain. The only thing that could sweeten this deal is if they would buy and sell used video games and consoles like Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii, WiiU etc.. like CD Game exchange it would get crazy busy! I hate having to order older games online or drive to Gresham. It might be a model they should consider adding to their current business. I think this place is great, I feel like it's 1998 every time I step through those doors!

This cozy little bookstore is right on E 2nd in The Dalles and is a throwback to the friendly, neighborhood shops of yesteryear. The bookcases date back to when the shop opened, adding to the charm and warmth. Books of all categories (fiction, mystery, cookbooks map, gardening, thrillers, travel, brewing, baking, sci-fi, classics, children's) with new releases and even some out of print items represented. So fun to peruse through the various titles as time disappears and I get lost in the magic of printed words and stories. In addition to the varied book collection, the shop has some beautiful puzzles, gorgeous journals, pens, unique stationary, lovely cards, gifts and some toys for children. The staff is passionate about books and it's evident. The gentleman working there the day that I stopped in was so friendly and helpful, offering suggestions on books after I told him my preferences for a summer read on a lazy day. A must stop for anyone passing through The Dalles. Love supporting local and I will be visiting again and again!

All had no openings for weeks. What? Honey, you are not in Portland Anymore! In Portland, you can walk in any of the 50-100 salons and get any service, no wait, 7 days a week. Yes, I know The Dalles and Hood River are not big cities like Portland, but assumed there would still be nail shops with several attendants. Turns out many are true salons with just the owner or two people providing services. Initially there were no openings at Hey Gorgeous but Sherrie had a cancellation and called me back. Said if I could be there by 11:30, she could fit me in. I bolted out of the house and took the 12 minute drive to The Dalles, a beautiful drive I must say. Located right in town, inside and on the second floor of Hampton Furniture, the Hey Gorgeous salon is very private and comfortable. Sherrie got right to work and I was immediately impressed with her skill and speed. She never once had to clean up the gel Polish; every swipe was meticulously applied and no need for any touch ups. The pedi was equally impressive. I've been having my nails done for 35 years and never has anyone done the service in the order that Sherrie did but after she explained her rationale, it made total sense. The real proof was how great my hands and feet looked when she was done. For the first time ever I had a gel Polish on my toes and let me tell you, it's the best! Lasts forever, stays shiny, and you can walk out of salon immediately with no fear of a smudge. I swim every day and wear Finns. Usually my toe Polish gets ruined but not with the gel. They still look perfect two weeks later. I'll never go back to regular Polish again! Received so many compliments on my nails! Looking forward to my next appointment with Sherrie and will definitely call and book my appointment in advance. Sherrie is super friendly and I enjoyed our conversation as much as the nail service. Five stars all the way!

I hate to give this rating because they were super cool when they first opened and I was buying…read morekratom from them since the beginning, however the last time I bought kratom from them they changed their kratom selection and renamed products plus upped the price on the "best" kratom. When they opened the best kratom was the gold kratom, which had a golden tint to it, thus the name. When I last went in there, I got the gold one as usual and then I noticed it was a different color then I was use to and tried it with a friend and we both were so sick, we were puking. I brought it back and showed the guy one of my old kratom bags that had a little of their original gold from when they first opened and said I think I got the wrong one and the guy said he couldn't really help me. That's when I noticed they had another strain above the gold called "super" and it was 5$ more per ounce. That looked much more like the original gold I bought. I mentioned that and said I had been coming here since you guys opened and mentioned there was no "super" kratom strain in the beginning, but no help. So I was like okay, I don't want to was 40$ of the kratom I bought and I tried it again. Got sick to the point of puking again. Had another friend try it and they got sick too. Honestly I only came here because of the convenience of being able to buy kratom in town. If you love kratom and don't want to pay top dollar for it, just go to www.yokratom.com because that's what all my friends use anyways and plus it's only 60$ for a whole kilo. That's right, 2.2 pounds as opposed to what they charge here. I use to really support Pandora and thought they were awesome for selling kratom, but now they're getting greedy with it, renaming products and upping their already expensive prices on it. The shop has a variety of art displayed across several mediums, most framed. Antiques and collectibles are dispersed amongst the handmade items. In the back is the studio where they give classes; check their website for the schedule. I'm a big fan and supporter of art and always stop by studios and galleries to look at and appreciate the creativity. One never knows when a particular piece with "speak" to them and results in having to have it! While I didn't find anything this day, I enjoyed walking around the studio and looking at everything.
