Had the fish with roasted potatoes that was really nicely done. Large portions and a homely atmosphere. Service is a little slow, there's one lady running the whole establishment. read more

Unser Restaurant "Gambrinus am Hafenmarkt" liegt romantisch in der Altstadt von Esslingen in der Strohstraße, direkt am Hafenmarkt. Der Gastraum im denkmalgeschützten Gebäude bietet auf ungefähr 100 Quadratmetern Platz für etwa 80 Gäste. Everyone is delightful, as Germans always are. The hospitality is as good as the wine, which is amazing. I enjoyed the vegetarian "Cordon Błue" and was blown away. Seriously great! The meats are outstanding, should you desire. I have never had wine fresh from the barrel. Well. A "glass" is actually a small pitcher and the wine tastes fresh. A slight bite to it, and definitely worth trying. So there you have it. A gem.

Waren heute, 10.12.2011 im uns bisher unbekannten Gambrinus. Da Weihnachtsmarktsamstag, war es zuerst voll und man versprach uns (4 Personen), über Handy anzurufen, sobald ein Tisch frei werde, in ca. 1 Stunde. Wir schlenderten weiter über den Weihnachtsmarkt und in weniger als einer halben Stunde erreichte uns der avisierte Anruf. Sehr freundlich lud man uns zum Kommen ein und auf die Frage, ob es auch 6 Leute sein könnten, antwortete man uns, wir machen das, evtl. wird es etwas enger. Wenige Minuten später waren wir da und man führte uns sehr freundlich an einen ausgesprochen sauber hergerichten, genügend großen Tisch. Die Sauberkeit herrschte übrigens im ganzen Lokal und auch auf den Toiletten vor. Die Bedienung war schnell, sehr freundlich und alles war durchweg sympatisch. Jeder hatte ein anderes Essen bestellt und es waren auch Sonderwünsche dabei. In sehr kurzer Zeit wurden wir immer wieder freundlich-versorgt, wobei alle Speisen qualitativ hochwertig und in recht großen Portionen heiß serviert wurden. Die Getränke waren durchweg richtig temperiert. Für ein Speiselokal in dieser Lage zudem ein tolles Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Deshalb Danke, gerne wieder,bis bald! read more
