I was a bit skeptical at first since I was expecting Andrew to teach the course, but Juan did an excellent job at giving tips to conceptualize topics. Further, Juan is a good speaker with years of knowledge working in the industry, so he will answer any questions you may have with ease. They will provide you with slides that are great for reviewing before the exam. The best thing about this course is that they will focus on topics that have higher priority and will advise on which sections to spend more of your time on. From my experience, I would recommend reading the book prior to taking the exam and taking this bootcamp course as a refresher. You should not rely solely on the bootcamp to pass the course as the CISSP has a lot of info that may require more time to study. Note, I spent 3 months of regularly studying and crammed 60+ hours the week before the exam.

I would not recommend Apex based on my experience in the HVAC program. If I had known the program…read morewould be like this, I would have chosen a different school. One instructor regularly made students feel stupid for asking questions, as if every question was ridiculous. He would interrupt before students could finish speaking because he assumed he already knew what they were going to say. He also reacted poorly when students fact-checked something he taught or questioned information that did not seem correct. His attitude and ego made it extremely difficult to respect him as an instructor or feel comfortable asking for help. This same instructor was involved in a physical altercation with a student after the student complained that he was not receiving help. As far as I know, no meaningful action was taken, and the instructor was still allowed to teach. Another instructor frequently spends class time on his phone gambling and discussing which teams he plans to bet on. When students ask for feedback or an opportunity to correct graded projects before submitting them, he refuses and says he already reviewed the material in class and will not explain it again. Instead of providing constructive feedback or helping students improve, he often stares at his phone and talks about sports bets. His mood and willingness to help also appear to become worse when his bets do not go well. The curriculum is poorly organized, and the school treats adult students like children. Even when instructors say they have finished everything they needed to teach for the day, students are not allowed to leave without being penalized. If you finish your work early, you may be required to sit in the classroom for hours with nothing productive to do. I enrolled because I genuinely wanted to learn HVAC and prepare for a new career. Unfortunately, both instructors left me with the impression that they were more interested in collecting a paycheck than actually teaching their students. The lack of instruction, professionalism, constructive feedback and accountability has made the experience extremely frustrating. Anyone considering Apex should speak with current and former students and carefully research other HVAC programs before enrolling.

However, it's naive to think that their 24 week course will give you ultimate super powers. What they offer is teaching you how to research and learn as an independent thinker. You will become very intelligent, leading to incredible strength on and off computers. FYI, I had to learn TypeScript, Electron, Capacitor, Nx monorepos, Recoil, Jotai, creating my own Node.js based plugins, etc. since starting my new job, but I would have failed miserably if I tried to study on my own. Some people can achieve this as a self taught programmer, but if you like to learn best practices and bounce ideas off of the smartest people you've met, App Academy is for you.

Throughout my time here, I have found the administrative staff to be unhelpful and difficult to reach. Dishonest billing after withdrawal; ignored records request…read more I enrolled at Fullstack Academy and later withdrew. My student advisor confirmed in writing (via Slack DMs) that my final two payments would be canceled and not charged. Weeks later I received an email saying they planned to charge me anyway. They also deleted my student account and removed me from their Slack, which blocked me from accessing the very messages that confirm the cancellation. My request for a copy of those DMs was ignored. I immediately sent a formal revocation of payment authorization and notified my bank because these attempted charges could have overdrawn my account by $1,000+. Fullstack cited a "no refunds after 6 weeks" policy, but in my case they are using it as a loophole to demand money after telling me in writing I wouldn't be charged. This has caused significant stress and wasted hours of my time. I've filed complaints with the CFPB and the NY Attorney General. Policies aside, trustworthy schools honor their written commitments and provide students access to their records. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this program. If you're considering it, get everything in writing and be very cautious about autopay authorizations.

Then, they say the program is for anyone including career changers and the first class immediately the instructor started to code and relied on the computer science students and sent a "python for beginners" YouTube for the people just starting out. They left us with just "work hard" and sent a couple of links. The rest of the classes just kept pandering to the computer science students because they were the majority and left others in the dust. Its a complete money grab because they analyze the majority in the course and teach them and abandon others.

The material covered in the course was uncannily relevant to my business on a day to day basis. I could not speak highly enough of Garfield as an instructor. He effectively explained all material by walking us through each step and using helpful analogies for us to have a stronger understanding of when you would use each tool. As an online course he made sure everyone was engaged and was patient yet timely to reexplain something if people had questions. Garfield was kind enough to make himself available for me after the course as I was struggling with a challenging and important excel file I was working on. He let me share my screen with him and explain what I needed help with. His help with this file and the tools I gained from his instruction very likely are the reason I saved my job. Thank you NYIM and Garfield. If you are looking to increase your excel skills THIS is the company you should invest your time in.

Course content felt well thought out and organized--nice mix of working on mapped exercises to work on discrete skills with some room to work on any problems or concerns or thoughts you might have brought to class. The supplement files/exercises provided for post-class work are solid as well. I've received a greater amount of content from some places, but the files and materials here were much more workable and better-organized. Classrooms are not glamorous by any means, but they are acceptable. I took the class in early fall, and I would caution that the room was quite warm; somewhat uncomfortably so once it hit midday, even with the giant fan going. So dress lightly. But worth it for the VBA-ducation.
