After the most recent scenario, I felt compelled to write a review of this nursery…read more
The deceitful tactics this nursery employs regarding notification of a law that recently passed (Feb 21st mind you, not a "few weeks ago" as they're trying to convince us of as an excuse for the laughable amount of time they've given notice to us, and in return, us being able to OPT OUT ) regarding consumables over a month ago, has given me no choice but to warn others what you'll be getting into if you decide to have your child here.
The management of this nursery (all MiChild Nurseries) needs a serious review and change. When we started our son here (2 years ago) we chose this nursery due to our work schedules, it's proximity to our home and the hours it offered within its rates. The most recent fee hike, came with taking away services. So they raised the rates and cut the hours we can have our children there and they've taken away providing nappies. So they've raised the fees, cut the hours and taken away items they used to provide within the previous fees.
First off, when getting my son, I would say 85+% of the time he's dirty, his pants/diaper are soiled (this is after notifying them that I'm coming to get him through the app - &, I actually started calling as that wasn't working, but alas even calling doesn't get his nappie/pants/clothes changed!) & he's starving when I get him home! Literally, shoving food & chugging milk in the car ride home. He always asks for food when taking him home. So I've began taking snacks & milk with me just for the car ride home!
For breakfast, they serve only cereal (cornflakes/rice crispies w/milk & toast, EVERYDAY. No other options are available. I actually feed him yogurt & fruit, oatmeal or eggs BEFORE I drop him off as he doesn't normally eat what they provide for breakfast. I've picked him up randomly a few times & the lunches are not good, no protein, all carbs, not healthy & the cost they charge does not justify what the children are eating, IMO.
With the new changes that came LAST MONTH from the government where people no longer have to pay consumables when using funded hours & provide their own meals. We only were just now notified that we don't have to pay the consumables charge on the 24th of March @2:12pm through the parent app, not via email & we were only given until the 28th @12pm to opt out. Why the 28th & not the end of the term you may ask?? Because that would be too easy & make too much sense!
The 2 documents they gave us (THRU THE APP not via email), one document regarding what we can give our own children to eat was 4 pages long, and the other regarding the consumables information - 7 pages long!!
Guess what page Echoes Nursery notified us of the deadline?) They notified us of the deadline on the 4th of the 7 pages!! Important information they wedged right in the middle of 7 pages of information, instead of being upfront and clear about it, they chose to use tactics akin to the financial crises of past & GAVE US ONLY 3 DAYS TO OPT OUT ON THE LAST WEEK OF THE TERM!!!
They were never upfront in this document about these charges (ie prices etc...) as is required by the new laws & regulations regarding OPTIONAL charges. Not knowing about this deadline, we msged & opted out on the 31st of March as it's the end of the month/term (& that makes sense) to notify before the next term starts, & we were told that we now cannot opt out until September! So WE MUST PAY £117/month until Sept!
Its funny how vastly different they remind parents about government funding that Echoes will receive compared to how they notify parents of money they may save and in turn Echoes will lose out on: (See attached screen shots) They're very clear about the dates, when the deadlines are IN THE ACTUAL BODY OF THE NOTIFICATIONS they send out, giving serval reminders and plenty of time to act, but when it comes to money they may potentially lose out on, they come up with the most obtuse, unclear, confusing and scheming delivery methods and extremely short and unfair notice timeframes.
No leniency given to parents who rightly miss the information (for the reasons they even mention AND are the cause of) but expect leniency and understanding for their unprofessional conduct in delivering the message, short notice, and even shorter time in which they expect parents to react and act.
I spoke with 12+ other parents about this & ALL WERE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THIS NOTIFICATION and the contents of its corresponding documents even being sent! Why? Because they send the most random stuff that's usually NOT IMPORTANT. & when it is(funding they receive)they're interestingly more clear and informative. I would bet almost none of the parents know about this, just from my own efforts in asking every parent I encountered!
Instead of taking accountability they've resorted to sending a letter about a fabricated incident alleging verbal abuse & rudeness which never happened in response a truthful review
