Basically did a copy and paste of a picture I bought in even though I only wanted part of it done. Did it all in black shading though I wanted color even after being told that repeatedly and he agreed to do it that way. By the time I realized it was too late and now I'm going to need a full cover up on my chest. Overly expensive and my requests were totally ignored. I wouldn't recommend unless you want whatever they feel like sticking you with. The rest of the staff is friendly even if they don't listen to the customer.

My leg sleeve has a darker, Egyptian-inspired theme, and Stacy absolutely brought it to life. The way he designs each piece to flow together and fit the shape of the leg is next level. Nothing looks random or out of place--everything connects and builds into a cohesive story. He also helped refine a lot of my ideas and turned them into something way better than I originally envisioned. On top of that, I trusted him with a large back piece cover-up, which isn't an easy task at all. He was able to rework the entire area and design something that not only hides the old work but completely transforms it. You wouldn't even know it's a cover-up unless I told you. I've sat through multiple long sessions with him (including full-day sessions), and he's always professional, focused, and consistent. The shop is clean, the environment is comfortable, and he really takes his craft seriously. If you're looking for an artist who can handle large-scale projects, cover-ups, and custom designs with strong flow and detail, I highly recommend Stacy. You truly get what you pay for with him, and I'm definitely continuing all my work with him.

Go here and avoid regret!…read more This is a tattoo town. The waiters have them, the bank tellers have them, the COPS have them. Stuff that would make you unemployable in the midwest is acceptable here in a professional setting, and it's one thing I LOVE about this town. But it is still surprising how many tattoo shops there are. It feels like there is one every mile or so. How do they all stay in business? Most of them don't. Only a handful of them stick around more than a few years, shady storefronts slapped up in strip-malls and abandoned buildings. Fewer are any good, and even fewer are friendly, clean, awesomely decorated, fair priced and painless (relatively: I've been to diggers of both kinds previously). Tinta Cantina is all of those. I've never seen a bad piece of work come out of here, and I have seen quite a few MIND BLOWING pieces. Consistently, the entire staff and guest artists are producing the kind of stuff you can't take your eyes off of. These are tattoos that you make you jealous and a little bitter that you didn't get it first. Cool conceptions, impeccable executions. Typically, people go to someone they know for a tattoo, and that's cool- it's intimate, they don't want to get ripped off... Most will already know where they are going if they want something done. But if you are new to town, new to tattoos, "your usual guy" split, or are otherwise trying to decide where to go, you cannot go wrong here. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

The one on my arm didn't come out nicely at all (the lines are wobbly and the shading looks amateurish), and considering the final quality I feel like I was way overcharged. I reached out to him to see if I could schedule a touch up, which he'd offered to do during my appointment, and he never responded--so now I'm paying another artist to basically fix this tattoo. Also, when I went in, he and another male tattoo artist were shooting the shit in a way that made me sort of uncomfortable as the only woman in the room (and they didn't stop at any point, considering how it might make a customer feel). Overall, just weird and unprofessional vibes from this place and I wouldn't recommend them.

I looked it up online to see what their hours were and figured that I would be able to get a tattoo or at least talk to somebody on Monday morning. Unfortunately they were closed. I looked for other tattoo shops in the area defined one open on a Monday. Not very impressed I figured I would not be getting a tattoo in Albuquerque. However, on Tuesday morning, I walked into Happy Tattoo not really expecting to get one. I walked in spoke with the owner Chris, who is generally booked up all the time. Just so happened to have an opening for a couple of hours and squeezed me in. Chris has over 33 years experience, old school tattoo artist that knows what he's doing. Chris loves his work still after all those years. You could also see it in his shop. I've been in many tattoo Studios since the late 70s and I tell you hands down, this is probably one of the coolest shops you'll ever go into. The styling, buildings architecture, effort that was put into it, DAM, everything was cool, inviting and on point. Getting back to Chris, he immediately was accommodating and started on my tattoo right away got me in and out quickly. Just a short time that I was there and conversing with Chris. I would be comfortable to say he is my guy from now on. Or at least when I pass through Albuquerque and need another tattoo. keep up the great work and "I'll be back" PS. Don't be pushing me around

I was told a free touch-up was included with the cost of the tattoo, but after reaching out multiple times over about six weeks to schedule one, I didn't get a response. This was surprising because her response to my original tattoo inquiry was pretty quick. When I did finally hear back, I was told to find another artist with no attempt to honor the touch-up, so I will be incurring additional costs for fixes to her work. I'm happy with the art but dissatisfied by the artist. After posting this review, Tam emailed me at 1:20 AM and told me that my touch-up is not a priority, accused me of not tipping (I did), and said that I should go to another artist so I don't end up with more "upside-down tattoos." The "upside-down" tattoo she's referencing is the one SHE did for me, and it's a memorial tattoo for my sister that faces me because it's important to me, which we talked about at my appointment. I recommend you go anywhere else for your tattoo due to Tam's total lack of professionalism.

I was fortunate and they could! I was happy enough with my random draw not to pay for a re-roll. The artist who did it did such a nice job with the shading and little touches of color that by the time it was done I loved it as much as if I had painstakingly selected it instead of trusting to chance. I'd definitely consider this shop for a more thought out tattoo.
