Beautiful floors, art work on the walls from all of the artists and giant comfy couches to wait on. We were instantly warmly greeted by the two artists working. Pablo came to speak with us about what we wanted. We sent him some pictures and he began working on the drawing. Once he was done we asked for adjustments and he happily sketched those out in front of us. He was kind and patient with us while we made sure it was exactly what we wanted. He worked with us on placement and even mirrored the tattoos because we got them on different arms. We watched him get his station set up with sterile products and the entire time he did our tattoos he was friendly and professional. We had a great experience. They came out amazing and we couldn't be happier. I would recommend this place if you're shopping around for a new tattoo spot. They're located by Ace and it's a hidden underground parking spot off of lomas. Go check them out. I will note that some artists only take cash, so get the details squared away before you get started. Thank you to Pablo for giving us exactly what we wanted.

Go here and avoid regret!…read more This is a tattoo town. The waiters have them, the bank tellers have them, the COPS have them. Stuff that would make you unemployable in the midwest is acceptable here in a professional setting, and it's one thing I LOVE about this town. But it is still surprising how many tattoo shops there are. It feels like there is one every mile or so. How do they all stay in business? Most of them don't. Only a handful of them stick around more than a few years, shady storefronts slapped up in strip-malls and abandoned buildings. Fewer are any good, and even fewer are friendly, clean, awesomely decorated, fair priced and painless (relatively: I've been to diggers of both kinds previously). Tinta Cantina is all of those. I've never seen a bad piece of work come out of here, and I have seen quite a few MIND BLOWING pieces. Consistently, the entire staff and guest artists are producing the kind of stuff you can't take your eyes off of. These are tattoos that you make you jealous and a little bitter that you didn't get it first. Cool conceptions, impeccable executions. Typically, people go to someone they know for a tattoo, and that's cool- it's intimate, they don't want to get ripped off... Most will already know where they are going if they want something done. But if you are new to town, new to tattoos, "your usual guy" split, or are otherwise trying to decide where to go, you cannot go wrong here. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I got a few small tattoos from Ray. He was nice enough, but he didn't disinfect my skin before…read morestarting, which I've never experienced before (and I have lots of tattoos), so they didn't heal super well. The one on my arm didn't come out nicely at all (the lines are wobbly and the shading looks amateurish), and considering the final quality I feel like I was way overcharged. I reached out to him to see if I could schedule a touch up, which he'd offered to do during my appointment, and he never responded--so now I'm paying another artist to basically fix this tattoo. Also, when I went in, he and another male tattoo artist were shooting the shit in a way that made me sort of uncomfortable as the only woman in the room (and they didn't stop at any point, considering how it might make a customer feel). Overall, just weird and unprofessional vibes from this place and I wouldn't recommend them.

My husband and I were in town for an anniversary trip. Earlier this year, we got matching tattoos…read moreon our wedding ring fingers. Finger tattoos fade faster than others due to constant hand washing, etc. My husband decided to surprise me and made an appointment to get them touched up while we were in Albuquerque. We came here and we didn't have an appointment. My husband thought he had made one here, but it turns out it was at a different shop a few blocks away. The people here were very nice and even said the other place was great. On the way to the other shop, I called them and told them we would be just a few minutes late. Turns out, they never write our appointment down and couldn't fit us in. So we came back here! We told them what happened and they said they could take care of us. Eddie got everything ready and I went first. He was done in no time and I didn't even really feel it! Easiest tattoo I've ever gotten! He cleaned up, reset, and did my husband's. He was friendly and talked to us the whole time. I've had artists barely speak to me! They charged double what I would have paid at the shop I usually go to at home, but my husband really wanted to do it on our anniversary trip, so we did! We also really liked the vibe there. I likely won't be back since it's about 1000 miles away. But if I were going to Albuquerque again and wanted a tattoo - I'd go back!

I'm glad we didn't judge the book by its cover. Bianca did our teeny hearts on our ankles to match. She was so great, and one of my cousins had never had any tattoos before, but Bianca made it so easy for her. She had excellent "bedside manner," if you will, and was really fun to talk to during our time with her. Her artwork in her studio room was all really beautiful to look at too! We paid $60 each, since the shop has a $60 minimum shop fee. I don't live in NM, but I think I would go back to her again to get more stuff done.

Yes, 5 TIMES, and it still looks blotchy and grey in some parts. The 4th time I went in, Johnny decided that he didn't like the way the "j" looked and just freehanded over it. So now it looks like balls. Thanks. I'm very upset and frankly, pretty embarrassed of my first tattoo. Johnny was very kind and welcoming, which was the only good part of this experience. If I didn't live on the other side of the country now I would go back in and talk to the manager about getting a more experienced artist to fix this. However, my $100 back for this awful tattoo would be awesome. Although, I'm not expecting it. Not from this place.
