What I also appreciated was that they do not just focus on selling you solar. They also looked at energy efficiency and helped identify upgrades that could reduce my overall usage, which I think is a big part of the value. Saving energy and producing energy should go hand in hand. A full battery system was out of my budget for now, but I was glad to learn there were still daylight backup options that let me use solar power during a daytime outage. That made solar feel a lot more practical for me now, while still giving me the option to add a battery later. Most of the delays I experienced had more to do with New Orleans permitting and Entergy-related bureaucracy than Solar Alternatives. Unfortunately, that seems to come with the territory here. Even so, my total timeline was about 3 months, which still seems better than a lot of what I found online, where 4 to 6 months looks pretty normal.

This company has some of the worst communication I've ever experienced from a contractor. They…read morenotified me a year after my system was installed that they had to make corrections to close the permit. The work took longer than the day they quoted. It took a week for them to get back out and complete the work. They called me an hour before the crew showed up and I was out of town. The crew didn't complete the work correctly and my system has produced half power for three weeks now. I called the office multiple times for over a week and got sent to voicemail for the schedulers. Finally, I was assured that the service manager would call me but I never received a call. I finally got on the schedule and the technician didn't show up. I received no warning that he called out sick. Now, they have to make more corrections and my system is still malfunctioning. This is the second local solar company I've dealt with. They're really great at taking your money and not picking up the phone after the system is installed. I'm beyond frustrated after my experiences with this company. My system worked perfectly for a year after the initial install but now I have a half functioning brick on my roof. Now, I'm still paying Entergy and paying off this system that barely works. I will not be giving Solar Alternatives any more of my business.

What was promised as a "seamless process" turned into 11 months of delays, missed appointments, poor communication, and ultimately--shoddy, unsafe work. Here's a short list of the disasters: They installed the panels incorrectly the first time and had to come back to fix their own mistakes. They damaged our roof and gutters during the installation . No one returns phone calls or emails. We had to chase them down every step of the way just to get basic updates. The system still isn't fully operational almost a year later. To add insult to injury, they were quick to send an invoice--Nina from the office calls, raises her voice, uses profanity and made up lies about why the work wasn't done. Do yourself a favor and go with literally any other reputable solar company. We regret trusting them and are now looking at additional costs just to make the system safe and functional.
