They offer really good advice and I usually go in here before I decide to visit the doctor. A perfect example was last month when I had a really sore throat. They now offer a "Sore Throat Test and Treat Service" so they took a swab from my throat and were able to tell me in a few minutes what the cause was. As it was not bacterial (Strep Throat) they told me i could treat it with over the counter medicines. If it had been Strep Throat they would have sent me to my doctor to get antibiotics. It only cost me €7.50 and saved me the time and expense of visiting my doctor. On many occasions they have given me really helpful advice about the medicines I was taking and they are very friendly and approachable.

A short, middle-aged, pock-mark-faced man barked 'Yes!' at me from the till. I was unable to give all my symptoms as he cut me off to snarl 'allergic to ibuprofen?' . He then proceeded to reel off some instructions at top speed, that I could not grasp. After he snapped the price at me, I gave him my card with a look of incredulity. He couldn't even deign look at me when returning my card and dangled it from his fingers while looking away. In all my life, I have never been on the receiving end of such ridiculously bad service. With so many pharmacies in the area, I will be taking my custom elsewhere in the future, and I recommend others to do the same.

It has an interesting history and some pieces are original. standing today with the cabinets from the story still standing. This former pharmacy sells secondhand books & crafts. It was very crowded with all kinds of objects and only room for only about 5 people to stand. We learned from the shopkeeper that normally on the weekends the owner of the shop will play music. He just so happened to take his first holiday in over 3 years while we were there, so unfortunately we missed him. It was a great quick stop and if you time it right, it is worth peeking in for a visit.

Open until 10pm you probably won't find a later opening pharmacy in the area, and because of it's location on O'Connell Street near O'Connell Bridge you would find yourself passing it reasonably often. And price are a little higher than the more suburban pharmacies, but I guess you can't complain when the location and opening hours probably make that necessary.

This chemist is located pretty much across the road from the American Embassy. I have a conspiracy…read moretheory that they are in cahoots with each other. The times that I have had to go through the visa process with the said embassy my photo amazingly is never the correct size. Oddly the photos of everyone that is there when I am there is never the correct size. So we are always instructed to get them redone at the Hamilton Long chemist across the road. They are well used to the drill, down comes the big white background, 'Sit on the stool there and try and make yourself look as ugly as possible.' The charge for the always unflattering photo is very expensive. There is something about paying through the nose to be photoed at your most hideous state that seems grossly unfair. Surely you should pay according to satisfaction. Other than that it's a small chemist with all the essentials. Staff are grand but I still hold on to that conspiracy theory that the embassy get a kick back for all the customers that they send their way.
