Traveling from Chicago to Florida for my niece's wedding Thanksgiving week, we had an overnight stay in Franklin, Tennessee. Looking for some interesting things to do we came across Gallery 202. We are so very glad we did. What a gem of a place! Between the history and architecture of the 1821 year old home to the eclectic array of one of a kind art pieces we throughly enjoyed our time there. If you are looking for that unique piece for your home or a special memento of your trip we highly recommend taking the time to visit Gallery 202. From the moment we entered the door Owner/Artist Kelly Harwood and Gallery Manager Jim McReynolds couldn't have been any nicer. When Kelly learned of my being an aspiring artist myself he warmly invited us in to see his actual working studio which was a real treat. My husband enjoyed talking with Jim who graciously spoke at length about the history of the home. Jim spoke about how he acquired some of the art pieces including some beautiful stained glass windows they are going to be using in the new carriage house that's currently under construction. This has been one of the highlights of our trip. If you are ever in Franklin and love art don't miss this one. read more

Works of art housed within a beautiful structure of old Franklin. Art within art. Pieces done in varied mediums, and exhibited in a tasteful environment. Kelly was the one that we had the pleasure of meeting, and he is not only an owner, but he is tremendously talented with a palette and paintbrush himself. I was mesmerized by the colors and shadows of a commission he was painting at the time. (I'm disappointed that I could not see it finished). The warmth, knowledge, courtesy and hospitality are very welcoming here. Time well spent. I look forward to seeing Kelly again. Drop in for a relaxed and enjoyable browse. read more

This gallery is beautiful. The buliding has history and is one great thing to see as well as the art. Anyone can purchase a piece because the pricing on the art pieces has a wide range. Gallery 202 is a little oasis between Franklin's Main Street and the Second Avenue antique district. It's located in an historic home that is an attraction in itself. The staff will show you the Civil War bloodstains if you ask, but the place is gorgeously restored now, including a lush backyard with a fountain and cute shed where the downtown bike tour bikes are. Inside, you will usually find something incredible, like an Andy Warhol, along with the best of the local artists. They have several rooms and there is a lot of variety from room to room, including small items of unique jewelry and handmade scarves. They're open most of the time and it's always a friendly place, but especially fun during the First Friday art crawl every month. read more
