The donuts are absolutely delicious and the farm market produce is always fresh and amazing. The fall decor is absolutely beautiful. The pumpkin cinnamon sugar doughnut was probably the best donut I've ever eaten. The fall pumpkin spread was so so beautiful . In the summer, Gallagher's has wonderful fresh fruit and always has a decent price. They also have some awesome you pick produce. I never can pass by without stopping! read more

Very nice family run farm, lots of things for kids to do, pick berries, hay bale maze, pet and feed farm animals, drink cider & eat donuts. We stopped by a week before end of season so berries were very picked over, farm market produce looked good as did the baked goods for sale. We purchased donuts and they were delicious! One of the wonders of Traverse City, its always on my list of stops on my work trips to the nearby horse show. Excellent choice if you like to cook with fresh grown produce! Excellent home made produce, all the fresh veggies on display and are neatly laid out with easy access to self serve. There's even a small petting farm and sand pit out back for your kiddies to play in. excellent photo opportunities too! Worth the stop, totally people friendly. Even my dog loved meeting the local cat! Wouldn't miss this stop! Everyone is made so welcome. On my last trip I lost my stickers I'd purchased there and when I called to see if I'd maybe left them at the store, I had not, but their immediate response was to replace them! read more

I have had the cheese and chive bread from here since I was a little kid. Just picked up some today-- and guess what, it is still as good as I remember it! I've enjoyed the pizza bread there too! Terrible customer service!!! A rude employee kicked everyone out of the market 1 minute after "closing" guess they weren't too keen on making sure everyone who was are there had been serviced. Cute little market and farm full of treats! From the plain, sugar covered, and cinnamon sugar covered, every cherry donut was great. Although they did taste like they had some cherry flavoring, the donuts had bits of cherry and were tasty. As for the basket of strawberries, $6 for fresh strawberries was good. I wouldnt get the pizza bread though. It was really really salty. read more

We were looking for farm fresh MI cherries and finally found them here. We spotted this place on the way to the sleeping bear dunes. They also sell lots of other fruits and vegetables as well as baked goods. We bought a cherry turnover along with the cherries. Yummy! Stopped in today, everything looked very nice. Purchased 2 "homemade" pies at $15 each. To my disappointment they were filled with canned pie filling and the Dutch Apple pie had a bitter aftertaste. So sad to get a cherry pie from Traverse City and have canned cherries. Will not be back. $30 wasted. read more

To me, fall isn't fall unless there are cider doughnuts and crisp apples. On a trip up north with friends, I stopped into Gallagher's to fulfill those crucial autumn needs. We all enjoyed the jam samples inside and wide variety of apples available to purchase, as well as the apple prices (substantially less than my co-op house has to pay to buy less delicious, less local apples from a produce distributor). I bought a bushel and should have bought three! They were delicious and all gone within a week. Though there is plenty of fresh pressed apple cider, the bakery makes pumpkin donuts rather than cider donuts, much to our dismay. We bought them anyway, since different-donut is better than no-donut, but were baffled as to why an orchard with a cider mill wouldn't offer classic cider donuts. read more

While staying at the nearby, redoubtable B & B, Wind in the Pines, one of our fellow guests asked where to get cherries nearby. Our hosts pointed over the hill and mentioned their neighbors, Gallagher's. As someone who often abjures touristy places and souvenir shops, I was pleasantly surprised by Gallagher's. They had an abundance of local produce (cherries, of course, peaches, corn, blackberries, potatoes, cucumbers, etc.). Most of this is either grown by them or nearby farms. There were also lots of local food products made from the produce (cherry jam, mustard, corn chips made from local corn and so on). I was particularly impressed by the cherry salsa (one of the best salsas I've had). There was also a good selection of homemade pies and ice creams at the front counter. The store also has a good representation of local wines. This is good for those who want a taste of the renowned Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsula vineyards but don't have the time or energy for the wine trail. To top it off, there is a barnyard area behind the store where the roosters, chickens, pigs and goats roam. This is great for kids or people, like me, who just like to see animals up close. In summary, Gallagher's is everything I would hope to find in a market that represents a taste of local food. If every farm market were run by farmers like these, I'd probably spend a lot more time in them (and be a lot bigger!). read more

Although I like the products they offer I think at this time of year( fall), they should have separate lines to pay for pumpkins and squash. I waited in line half an hour to purchase one jug of cider and 4 doughnuts. Due to all the folks with carts full of pumpkins that had to be weighed at check out. Admittedly this was on a weekend so maybe during the week it's not so bad. And I'm not aware of anyplace else in the area to get cider and doughnuts together. Had to have my fix! read more

So different since the Pandemic. Now more of an open air covered shed of a place... Lots of local apples yesterday. Many items available from refrigerators on back wall, with frozen local meat available for purchase from sales ladies. We just visited this place last week. It's next to their farm on M-72, they have a separate store offering the following, Meat/Eggs/Vegetables. Our family found this place on the way from Traverse City to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was awesome! We thought it was just another cherry stand but we were hoping for a pie. They have fresh pie, donuts along with homemade cherry salsa (delicious), jams, jellies and even local wine. The store was cute and then we went out back and it is practically a petting zoo! They had sheep, goats, chickens, pigs and a cat laying out in the sun. My girls were in heaven. Later on we ate the pie and it was delicious too. I can't say enough good things!! Much has already been said; like that their produce is actually local i.e. grown by them or TC area farms. They sell hot/fresh "pizza" bread Thursday thru Sunday for $5.50. Very tasty although overpriced, but when you add in all the freebies for the kids (sheep, pigs, chickens to look at; a toy barn with toy animals to play with), well worth it. read more

Super cute roadside store. We u-picked cherries this week and got fresh cherry donuts. They have moved their operation to the stores outdoor front porch due to COVID which is really nice for folks trying to stay safe! Took my kiddos to the farm today and they had a blast! While you can't feed or pet the animals, my two kids had fun watching the chickens run around and the pigs play. There are some cute farm toys for the little guys to play with as well. The market had a variety of (mostly) cherry related products, but seeing how they had just opened for the season, I'm guessing there is a variety of products later in the year. We bought a jar of the cherry berry jam and it is quite tasty (although at $6 a jar, it was a bit more than I expected to spend)! Cute place and a great place for local flavor gifts! We drove by on our way to and from the airport and stopped. The market has a ton of local items such as jams, chips, honey, produce, and wine. We got quite a few treats from this place for breakfasts since we were staying nearby. Their pumpkin donuts were to die for and the cider we got was really good too. I think we got cinnamon rolls too and I didn't care for them but my husband liked them. Great apples that helped fuel road trips and we had fun visiting with the animals out back.
