Galaktion is a Georgian restaurant near Istiklal in Istanbul, Turkey. It is owned by a Georgian poet who is assisted by his students. And fun fact, it is named after a Georgian poet.
Galaktion is the best restaurant in Istanbul and perhaps all of Turkey. The owner is incredibly kind and the food is delicious. I've been here three times and dream of my next visit.
I've tried the khachapuri (cheese pide), both the cheese and beef large dumplings (set of 4), the eggplant roll salad appetizer, 2 of the salads, the Galaktion special, Georgian lemonade, and the house wine. I haven't tried anything that I do not like, but the Galaktion special is definitely their best item. It's cheesy and tomato-y and filled with beef and mushrooms. Absolutely fantastic! The dumplings are also extremely juice and are almost like a soup dumpling. As soon as you break one open, the juice starts flowing. The salads are very fresh and tasty too.
Overall, I cannot recommend Galaktion enough. If you're in Istanbul, then you must try this restaurant. Come for the khachapuri, but stay for the Gaakiin special and the staff! read more
