First time visiter to Evans Head :), came here to visit a friend who is here on a working Visa :)…read more Didn't know what to expect cause i found this place on trip advisor and it had 3 reviews.. a negative 1 star reveiw, a semi bad review and a pleasant review.. In all honestly I'm more than happy with my 5 star review cause there is nothing to fault with this place... I'm thinking that the previous reviewers might be used to the 4 star luxury pub hotels back home in their respected citys lol!! If anyone can find a fault with this 2 star hotel with a single room bed for 1 person with shared bathroom for $27 a night - to a double 2 person room with private bathroom and shower and balcony for $88 a night, pleasd do so. But keep in mind that this is a small town between Grafton & Ballina and that your staying at Pub Hotel not just a hotel :)!! The Bistro had delicous food here aswell, had the fishermans basket myself and was pleased with the outdoor seating area where you could sit down and chill out with a cold beer with the locals :), and everyone says Hello or how are you over here.. a bit like Europe.. am just suprised cause you don't get that from many Sydney siders lol.. All in all I loved my stayed here at Hotel Illawong and on my next visit I won't be staying anywhere else but here :)! !

Top food and wonderful staff. I am not a big "pub-person" but I will never go through Evans Head…read morewithout popping in for a drink and a bite.

I really don't know how I haven't posted a review of this place. I thought I had. The place is so clean and chic with great amenities, one would never know! The rooms are great here although wouldn't recommend getting a basic room especially for 2 as they are very small. I got an upgraded room and it was white all over with a massive bathroom and rain fall shower, the pressure was to die for . It even had a tiny balcony which I enjoyed for my morning coffees. They have a communal kitchen that is kept immaculately even has L'occitane soap to wash your dishes. Complete kitchen and grill to cook with a fridge for storage. There's laundry, and a small lap pool great for dips as Byron Bay is quite humid. There also is room service, which is why it I thought it was a regular hotel. Free coffee and tea and filtered water. What else can one ask for? Yes its a little more expensive than some of the other places in the area but it's worth it.

Exceptionally well set out. Friendly service and a great experience. I stayed here for only one…read morenight, and admittedly the previous night I had been camping so perhaps the clean white sheets and modern setting biased me to feel more kindly and less critical. There are three houses on the property, and a number of rooms in each (eight in the one I stayed in). Each house is very modern with a kitchen, dining areas, BBQ, etc. Ideally you would come here with a family for a birthday or something like that, but even from my experience it was worth heading back to.
