By family vote, a five star experience. We love stumbling upon delicious country bakeries, and this…read moreone at Yea is worth a return visit. Savouries were superb and we can see why they have won so many best pie awards. The veggies in the pastie were perfectly cooked and the pastry was just the right balance. The steak pie was divine. Kids had toasties, which were also nice and offered on both white and whole grain bread. Everyone had sweets, too. There were traditional Aussie favourites like Carmel Slice and Passion Fruit Vanilla slice - both outstanding, and sweet! We didn't sample the many tarts, but if their chocolate eclair is anything to go by, all their European delights are yummy too. Most importantly, and sometimes hard to find in country towns, a nice coffee.

The sausage role was packed with neat! We all got a dessert to go and they were delicious when we got to tuck into them later in the day. I had the lemon muffin with passion fruit -it was awesome. Moist, zingy and just perfect. My husband had a vanilla slice and he said it was as good as he had in recent times. Next time we are in the area, I will be making a point of going through Yea, just to go back to the Provender!

Sitting outside is our favourite here. It's generally quiet enough to enjoy the trees surrounding the outdoor area and the feel of the old style bakery building. It's all just a bit different to the common 'modern' cafe. The coffee was delicious, so I had two.

While I definitely cannot fault the taste of the meal (neither could my fellow diners), the sourdough was far too hard and we ended up needing to ask for steak knives to cut it! The bread was lovely, but it made eating a bit of a chore. The staff are incredibly kind and the atmosphere was really nice, I would absolutely come back and have recommended it to friends.

We selected a delicious choc & raspberry muffin & sour dough toast with vegemite. I liked that the toast came with the butter & vegemite on the side which is how we do it at home but isnt always the case in Aussie cafes. Service was excellent & friendly. Our only wish was that we had found this on our first and not last day so that we could have tried a few of the other great looking baked goods on offer (and had one of their excellent coffees every morning!)

I'd heard that there were plenty of restaurants to choose from along Piper St & there were, but a bakery, the Little Swallow Cafe & one other eatery were the only places open on a Monday morning. So we found ourselves at the Little Swallow Cafe. It's a lovely little cafe, with a good breakfast / brunch menu. Not so many options that you feel overwhelmed by the menu but still plenty to choose from. Both of us were very happy with how our eggs were done, & we shared a sourdough toasty, yummy all round. I enjoyed my coffee & although my husband grumbled about the "girly" cup his tea was served in, I thought the mixed cup & saucer (local op shop finds I guess) served on a pretty little tray were a nice touch! Overall a recommend cafe for breakfast or a coffee to go.

Quaint cute little cafe tucked away just enough off the busy main street to offer a relaxed and comfortable cafe opportunity outside the city.
