Wyland Galleries in Lake Tahoe is a very pricy art gallery with some unique pictures and…read moresculptures. They don't allow photos so it's kind of ridiculous for me to describe what I saw but I'll give it a try. Best you go there yourself. Wyland himself is best known for his Whaling Wall murals and sea life conservation efforts. There was a thick glass coffee table supported by what seemed like a dolphin or whale base which I believe was by Wyland. There were two other types of animal sculptures that I found to be delightful: a large, almost life-sized metal dog with extra long legs and many smaller, very colorful animal pieces made with various found objects. One looked like it had a body part made using part of an ice cream cone. Art is meant to be seen and my descriptions can't possibly do them justice. Another artist, Oryan, does something called liquid fusion. It's quite a complicated process. I did take a picture of a poster about him, just not the actual art. Even if these works of art are out of your price range as they are mine, it's still fun to admire the talent of these artists.

If you're at the Candy Dance statue, look on the left side of that building and go all the way to the back. If you end up at the Genoa Community Church, you've go too far. The Genoa Gallery features local and regional Photographers, Painters, etc. One cool example is an overhead picture (taken by Drone) of a past Candy Dance scene, while doing a good job of capturing the layout of Downtown Genoa. There's more as evidenced by my weekend visits here and having a some subsequent conversations about what bit of local art might fit well in our Genoa home. That of course can be a long iterative process, with the Genoa Gallery being a good place to start.

I wish I didn't even have to give one star. I purchased five pieces from this gallery years ago…read moreunder the assumption that they were authentic Works by Picasso Chagall and Salvador Dali. I have since discovered that the Picasso's were large addition reprints out of a French publication called circle. The art,, the Chagalls's are similar in that they are prints out of an art publication printed in France. The Picasso's that he sold me for thousands of dollars are readily available on the market for anywhere is from $180-$300. The shit calls are the same. These people will tell you. You buy on eBay or anything that you buy outside of their gallery is fake. But if you do the research you'll find that they are the ones that are pushing fakes as in fake tales of real art at a high value that they buy for pennies on the dollar. I also purchased a Salvador Dali, but they told me was signed on the back by an authenticator and that when they framed it, they would have a small window showing the authentication. This never happened. They delivered the Art to my house and very quickly left. This is actually how I discovered that all of the art that I purchased was almost worthless. I contacted a Salvador Dali expert in Southern California, and he confirmed my suspicions. The addition that I was sold was numbered an Arabic numerals. Where this particular print in an authentic state would not have been numbered the way, my print was. When I brought this to their attention. They immediately became hostile and told me that they were credible, and that I was not to attack their reputation. That led me to research the other pieces of art quickly realizing that all these people do is buy cheap art frame it, and then sell the sizzle buyer beware the art you purchased from these people is either fake or barely worth the cost of the frame. The photos I Posted reflect a small piece of art. Quickly running the measurements in the photo through AI gave me a wealth of knowledge. Print came from and it's value. These people are imbeciles at best And at worst fraudulent. I ask that anyone else that's had a similar situation please post reviews. You shouldn't feel embarrassed by the fact that they conned you into spending a ton of money on worthless items.

A treasure of rich history that dates to before Nevada was a state! There's drama and beauty…read morepreserved in this firehouse museum. Originally housed on the second floor of Station 1 on the corner of Musser and Curry, the concept was retained as the station was moved to Stewart Street, and a dedicated museum room now displays the memorabilia. "Fire trucks" from bygone ages are on static display and how lucky we are to see them in person and imagine the stories they could tell us. Each one of the vehicles is a literal work of art! A history of the Carson City Fire Department is available to read at Carson.org. Reading it can bring to life the photos and displays you'll see in the Museum. There is no charge for visiting the Museum. There is a donation box available. Parking is adjacent to the fire station. At the time of visit, there was a restroom available in the reception area of the station, near the entrance door to the museum. A few blocks away is the Warren Engine Company building at the corner of Musser and Curry Streets. Directly across from it is the site where Station 1 used to stand. History buffs and firefighting enthusiasts are sure to enjoy the CC Fire Museum!

It may not look open, but check in with the receptionist and she will open the large one room museum for you. It houses original fire equipment, memorabilia, and a couple of engines. The history of Warren Engine Company No. 1 (WECO) is- it was organized on June 17, 1863, in Carson City. WECO is the oldest volunteer fire company west of the Mississippi River. And probably the oldest continuously operated fire company in the nation. The name comes from the Revolutionary War hero, General Warren. The original Hunneman hand pumper, two hose carts, and 300 feet of fire hose on display in the museum. In the late 1800's it was an honor to be a member of a fire company. There was a pride of being the first to get water on a fire. Today WECO is still an all-volunteer company that works beside other firefighters and paid personnel of the Carson City Fire Department. In 2023 WECO is celebrating 160 years of continuous service. Stop in for about an hour and check their history. The equipment is in beautiful condition and plaques are full of great information. It's free. Just park behind Carson City Number 1 station in the lot.

This is the cutest bookstore I've ever been to! Decorated so well and such a great selection of new…read moreand used books. The owner Marissa is just such a gem! My dream was to have a book inspired photoshoot and she happily let us use luminary for the shoot. This was my first time learning of the bookshop as I'm new to town and so happy to have found it. I have learned they host many events throughout the month. Including themed nights, the wine walk, and paint and sips. Can't wait to spend more time here.

I had a little bit of a hard time finding the location because I'm not familiar with Minden. It's tucked into the corner of a strip mall with two shops on either side, and the sign wasn't super visible. The shop owner is super kind and welcome and able to help in all capacities. She knows her in store stock well, and can also order books if you're looking for something she doesn't have. Definitely wroth checking out! There's a bunch of fun merch items in addition to just books.
