We drove down curry and I had seen this adorable house with incredible things outside and so we stopped to visit. When we got there the owner, Julie was standing on the porch painting the most incredible Floral I've ever seen, her artwork is just spectacular. We went inside and the house goes forever, all kinds of rooms and little alcove filled with the most amazing antiques and collectibles plus beautiful items for the house. My daughter-in-law bought an iron stone soap, dish, and found out that August 14 and 15th will be a big sale there 50% off everything in the store. The staging of the items is beautiful, lovely touches everywhere. If you are into all kinds of beautiful things and antiques collectibles and things to decorate your home with, I would suggest you go there. Make sure you have plenty of time because there's so much to look at so many beautiful things.

If you're at the Candy Dance statue, look on the left side of that building and go all the way to the back. If you end up at the Genoa Community Church, you've go too far. The Genoa Gallery features local and regional Photographers, Painters, etc. One cool example is an overhead picture (taken by Drone) of a past Candy Dance scene, while doing a good job of capturing the layout of Downtown Genoa. There's more as evidenced by my weekend visits here and having a some subsequent conversations about what bit of local art might fit well in our Genoa home. That of course can be a long iterative process, with the Genoa Gallery being a good place to start.

The shop has a good selection of what appear to be quality pieces including china, lamps, pictures and other odds and ends and unique items. What struck me is that it seems like the owner take some pride in the selection and is not just peddling and old junk like you find in some of the Reno shops. The lady working the counter (who I assume is the owner) was very helpful. The shop is not cluttered at all and everything is displayed well.

Nice selection of local artists work. Some is very professional, all completed by members. Prices…read moreare modest. Unfortunately, because volunteers run the gallery and they are busy working, some unscrupulous visitors take advantage and steal works or switch price stickers to buy at lower pricing when the volunteers aren't watching. These people are really low hanging fruit, stealing art from seniors that are only trying to make a little extra income. I hope the art they steal gives them intense guilt every time they look at it. If you like what you see while visiting, pay the asking price. You support the artists and the gallery, and will enjoy the art immensely for years.

November 22, 2014…read more Locals and folks driving by on HWY 395 need to stop and check this spot out. If you're like me you've been driving by for months and you've been wondering what is actually going on in there. Heck, the location has been a local coffee shop, and it's also been a flower shop more recently, so what is this year's offering in this space. It's art, it's local, and it's staffed by the artists. They're not paying anybody to staff the store, and so when you walk in you're going to meet one of the people that has created the work in the store. I really enjoyed it. For me, it was like talking to the wine maker about the wine he was making. Today I got to talk to Nancy Raven, and she was very easy to talk to, proud of the group of artists that were showing their work, and proud of her own work. As I walked in Nancy was sweeping the floor, and the shop was clean, organized and easy to walk through, not cluttered and dangerous. There is pottery in the store, mixed media, photographic work, wood work, and color pencil drawings. There is a lot of items that focus on the western experience, and so you'll see cowboys, horses, rusted cars, and wooden bowls. How are the prices? I thought they were very reasonable, and there was a wide range of price points. There were some consignment items, but I didn't look at them and can't comment on them. To conclude, this is a great spot to shop local, and well worth the stop.
