No inspections were carried out throughout a 12 month tenancy despite an agreement that regular inspections would be conducted. The initial 6 month lease was extended by another 6 months as I was assured the flat was being well maintained. The flat was left at the end of the 12 months in a disgraceful condition by the tenant, including permanent stains all over living room carpet, children's drawing on walls, rust on various appliances, used tampon and used condom left. At end of tenancy despite my carpet being ruined and an industrial clean required, Mr Matheson gave the tenant back £400 out of a £450 deposit. When I had the chance to see my flat I immediately requested he stop the cheque he had issued the tenant with as I was incurring a far greater cost than £50 to sort my flat following the tenancy. He refused with no explanation as to why he wouldn't and has subsequently ignored all of my written requests to see final inspection and inventory reports. With no lightbulbs left in living room lamps and no way to ascertain if they were in working order it is clear my appliances weren't even tested before deposit was issued. The dial instructions on my oven had also been completely wiped off and no way to know what setting the oven is at. The fact that I paid over £1000 for this 'service' and Mr Matheson, a lawyer no less, feels it is acceptable to ignore my requests for information relating to the management of my property is astounding. I would strongly encourage anyone considering using Andrew Matheson for any kind of service to reconsider.

As well as being an estate agent, it's also a solicitors office. Although this is more than a little bit confusing - I suppose that it would be useful?! They actually have two offices along Dumbarton Road, next door but one to each other. Which kind of adds to the confusion really! Anyway, the offices are nicely done out and welcoming, and the staff seem to be really nice. They also have a good selection of properties for sale and for rent - so it's well worth checking out their windows if you're in the market for some property.
