It was heart-warming to know that they would take care of my dad and do the best they could for a beautiful send off. Upon walking in to the wake and seeing my dad in his casket, I was tearful and felt so blessed to see how good and pristine my dad looked, better than he had looked in years! The funeral service continued with a beautiful procession to the family's neighborhood, the firehouse and then on to the cemetery. Pretty much went like clockwork. Initially upon dealing with this guy, he came off as polite just to reel me into signing papers to getting him paid. That was by far the most horrible choice I could've made! Dominick said it would take 7-10 days to receive my necklace, I still do not have it. I called today and he yelled "your sister hasn't even been DEAD a full month and you're already calling me when I told you the necklace was on back order!!!!" Please, please! They had a TV for photo memories and small tables scattered around and easels to allow for photo books and photo displays for memories. A small water fountain with water dispenser right beside that needed to be refilled sat by the stairs. Some of the elderly had to be helped with the entry steps, I'm not sure if they have a handicap entrance available on the other side that I missed. I'm not sure this was originally designed as a funeral home, it felt almost more like a home that had been renovated to fit the funeral at some point due to the design inside. Or maybe that was their point? Was here for the funeral of an educator and parking was scarce in the lot, fortunately the family had notified the town for a police officer so they could help direct the traffic in front. Many students and teachers came, and parking was filled up on the street for blocks around. The line extended well out to the corner of the street, but the funeral home was kind to keep allowing folks to come in even though it was well past the end 8:00 p.m. time for the viewing. No photos, as I felt it would be inappropriate here. As I did not interact with the staff, I would highly recommend a visit before making any decisions.

I was in this…read morecemetery for the burial of one of my dear cousins and met with some of the nicest cemetery staff I have ever come across (I AM A FUNERAL DIRECTOR/EMBALMER SO THAT SAYS A LOT). I walked in and the staff were immediately available to answer my questions and even took me over to my cousins grave. They did not rush us to leave the cemetery and I was even able to lighten the mood talking to Chaz who would be with us the next day. They accommodated my large family and made us feel like we could really mourn our loss in a safe place. I also learned some of the history of the cemetery and the city of Newark while chatting with the cemetery attendants at the graveside. They understood the cultural differences from the West Indies and made sure my family was not left wondering anything. Great job Fairmount. That is how you serve.

We noticed that the overall maintenance was a big difference to what we were used to seeing, he explained that they were under new management with a higher standard. The place looks great and he did an excellent job of taking us directly to our site and removed all of the obstruction from the marker and even placed markers for the crew to raise up the (DeNoyells) markers.
