Little did I know I missed the HQ location while I was in Houston, I know now to not miss it again. I drove down some back roads to get here, and found this huge store in a big box shopping center. I was looking at American Vodka and then I turned around to look at the opposite shelf and I almost fainted, this location had my favorite vodka from Russia, Khortyska!! I've been trying to get this sent to me for years. I spent some time in Ukraine before their last revolution back in 2011 and a guy that worked for me told me not to bother with Nemiroff and instead get Khortyska coming from a real bad ass Russian programmer, he was right. This place had all the brands of booze I couldn't find in Louisiana. I got some top shelf Rebecca's Creek, a bottle of Balcones Whiskey from Texas and my bottle of Khortyska. Sadly my wife consumed it thinking I got it for her. Which means only one thing. I'll need to make another road trip to buy some more. The staff here was really helpful, guided me to what I needed and there were some other Whiskey connoisseurs in the isle where I was that we chatted it up for a bit before I had to leave. On my way to the check out I grabbed some of the small single serve bottles to put on my desk at work to remind me where I need to go at my next earliest convenience.

At five minutes before closing time, my wife apparently calls JFK Liquor (long distance) and asks for a favor. Since I'm going to be stuck there for our Anniversary she asks them to deliver a bottle of my favorite bourbon to the hotel. They not only delivered the bourbon, they decorated the bag and had it there before I checked in. You can't find service like this anymore. These people really care about their customers. She was a different nationality with an accent. I don't believe she took my constructive criticism well.. It was an alcoholic product that went by the name of V something. She had a red bottle of it and a purple. We both got a shot of the red V- and it was nasty! To me, it tasted like cherry cough syrup medicine mixed with too strong of an alcohol plus it was warm not cold. Even though, the sampler had the drinks on ice. It probably was fake ice come think of it. The vibe of the liquor store was dead when we first stepped in with a whole long line from the counter to the back. Then a lady came in waay too throwed and buzzed. She was bubbly, all smiles speaking to everybody. Looks as if she had be drinking all day. She even spoke to the elderly man buying vodka for a bunch party goers. Real cool! The cashier lady was also very friendly. She is a older mexican woman. She also had switched her mouth to smile mode. She was speaking to everyone who came in and who was in line waiting. The whole atmosphere was laid back. The shelves were nicely stocked with signs of what it was and where it came from. I saw a few sick shaped bottles. I saw one shaped as a skull and AK-47. All of the vodkas are located straight back from the checkout counter-mostly the whole wall. They also have miniature bottles of alcoholic beverages near the cashier. And if you taste test the only way you can get a t-shirt is to buy a bottle. The store front has a weird theme: a Chihuahua in space or "high" with a name of UFO. Makes one wonder.. lol. Might be back since it's right next door to a vape shop.

Since I work downtown, several upscale liquor stores appeared on my Apple Maps. I called to inquire. The person who answered was patient and provided excellent customer service. Over the phone, he put me on hold, then came back and said, "Yes, ma'am, we do have it, but only one left. Don't worry, we close at nine. I'll hold it for you," and I appreciated his kindness. I told him I was on my way. When I arrived, he had the bottle ready for me, and I thanked him. I also asked how long the store had been there; he mentioned about five years. I realized I had driven past that place countless times without noticing it--it's kind of tucked away on the corner. We started chatting, and I was delighted to find out he was the owner. That moment meant a lot to me--not just because the store is close to my job, but because it's a Black-owned business, which truly touched my heart. I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear when he shared that. I vowed that from then on, this would be my go-to liquor store. There are three employees there, and they are the most welcoming, pleasant people I've ever met. Over the past few months, they've gotten to know me, and every visit is always a warm experience. Yesterday, I went in to get my usual, and I was greeted with friendly smiles and genuine warmth--"Hey, how's it going? How are things? Just getting off work? Good to see you." I had requested a bottle of Chardonnay, but one of the staff members accidentally ordered Moscato instead. It was no big deal, and he apologized, saying he'd get the correct one for me. Then, unexpectedly, he said, "Do me a favor--take this bottle of Chardonnay and try it. Tell me what you think." He didn't have to do that; I truly believe he did it because that's just who he is, not just because I'm a regular customer. I was about to decline, but he insisted, so I accepted. Just then, a woman from the back, smiling warmly, introduced herself as one of the owners. I'd never seen her before, but she explained she was listening and wanted to come say hello, expressing her appreciation for my support. It warmed my heart in a way words can't fully express. Moments like that remind me that showing kindness and respect doesn't cost anything. It's just about being human and compassionate. As long as Price Liquors is open, they will always have my support. Decent selection (not fair to compare it to other super-stores). Particularly on the liquor side, they're not going to have the beer/wine selection of the bigger stores, don't have the square footage. Although I did get a limited release Pumpkinator here once. Prices are a bit higher than you can get elsewhere but reasonable. Did I mention the convenience? The best feature of this store is the customer service. Friendly, polite, has that local store feeling. They don't breath down your neck asking if you need help. Always smiling upon checkout. I'll continue to go here, you should too. If it's convenient.
