My two teenage boys and myself are experienced riders from ny. We wanted a true working ranch experience ...not a dude ranch because we had already been to many dude ranches. We were told by the broker Karen Searle @ montana bunkhouses that G bar M ranch would be the best ranch for us because we had dietary restrictions being Jewish and they wpuld live to accomodate us and that we would actually be working on the ranch .This was the furthest thing from the truth. We could not have been treated more rudely. We realized we were not welcome at Mike and Maria Leffingwells ranch. Never once did Mike include us in any kind of work and when we volunteered to help sweep the stables , or help in kitchen or any other task we were told that " we got this "..Their daughter Mary made it clear from the first day to the last day that we were not welcome. She was nasty and neither she nor the owner Mike ever returned our greetings. We had to sit at meals with these hostile people everyday and we realized soon enough that they were nice to the other guests just not us. When I spoke to Karen Searle about our experience all she could say was she was sorry and it must have been a series of misunderstandings..when i told her she should refund just her commision to me in the form of a check written to the red cross to help Texas victims because she is responsible and insisted this was the best choice for us she responded by saying we should have gone to a dude ranch and from now on speak to her lawyer. MY RECOMMENDATION : DONT ENABLE THESE PEOPLE BY VISITING THEIR RANCH. There are plenty of other working ranches in montana not under the jurisdiction of Karen Searle and the Leffingwell family. read more
