My Mom and I were supposed to go for my birthday on our last visit and had a long lunch that caused us to skip our tickets that day. I'm thankful I had no idea then what I was missing. Bestie and I returned and needed to book the French tour since English tours are limited. This has got to be one of the most special experiences. I've been a lover of carousels for as long as I can remember and this musee might as well be called La rêve because every moment of it truly felt like one. I love moments filled with synchronicities, something makes life fill in alignment when this occurs over and over and our little spring break trip and visit here held so many special moments to me. Wrapping the most incredible tour pedaling a bike on the velocipede carousel manufactured in 1897 absolutely took the cake! All of my life's favorites things were in the most beautiful collision here. I can't wait to visit again! Perfect date spot, complete with dancing.

We saw Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Édouard Manet, Georges Seuret, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Mary Cassatt and Edgar Degas here and those are just a few. Since the mid-eighties, almost all of these artists have found a much larger display of their art across the Seine at Musée d'Orsay. Today, this is a more a Musée of Photography, or Galerie Nationale de l'Image. I liken it to the Georges Pompidou Center which has more modern art. In French, romance can have tragic endings too, as in film noir and the love for dueling over a pretty French lady lol. For me, I'm very passionate in life and love, but in all honesty probably would never duel over anyone, well unless said name ends with Jolie ;D Musée de la Vie Romantique ahh a museum that resonates of the era of Romanticism. A time of emphasis on emotion and individualism, idealization of nature, suspicion of science and industrialization, and glorification of the past with a strong preference for the medieval rather than the classical. Don't expect the Louvre here, but expect a very intimate experience as you walk around in an old mansion built before the era of Romanticism. Each creak in the stairs a story that once was, each artifact in the case a story within a story. Sounds cliché but only if the walls could talk! If you have the Paris Museum Pass, which I highly recommend, entering this intimate museum is absolutely free! So get the pass and be Parisian in the City of Love! I'm not sure if it was because of Design Week or due to some renovations happening around the exterior. Regardless, the visit was great and the interior is beautiful. Parisian Palace's are some of the most ornate in the world. There's nothing quite like them. I really enjoyed seeing the architecture inside of it. What a great way to spend a Sunday-- and for free!

It's stunning, though you'll soon realize that the part you most wanted to see - the glass enclosed space - might not be open to you. Visiting in May, the glass-domed space was locked tight, opened only for special shows and events. I've looked at the calendar now, in June, and see that they open it for many summer activities and were I there now I'd certainly try to get tickets for one of those events. Otherwise? This is still a worthy investment of time, not just to look around and peer into the glass-domed space, but to view the exhibits (individually priced, tickets available at the door). I noticed 3 special exhibits during my visit and paid for entry to 2 (Matisse and Nan Golden). Based on this experience, I'd recommend paying for entry to the exhibits of artists you're least familiar with under the assumption that they'll be less crowded. The Matissse exhibit was crowded enough to render the experience almost unpleasant. The Nan Golden show? Perfect. Though I'd recommend paying to see some exhibits, even if all you do is enter to walk around and explore the space you'll be nicely rewarded. The Grand Palais has some pleasant, quiet seating areas inside and the space is lovely.

I wouldn't say a lot of this section was overly science. But my kids loved it. There is a nice playground near the museum but it was so hot, we didn't spend much time outside. This science museum was pretty fun. I learned a few things and there were a good amount of interactive exhibits, including one social experiment, which I won't spoil for you. We spent about two hours there and pretty much explored the whole museum. Tip - the museum is a part of the Museum Pass. You're self-guided by recorded audio that happens in 3D surround sound, lighting effects, and doors opening. It may feel like you're alone, but you're never really "alone" because you're being filmed on cameras the whole time. Various tour scenes include a ride behind the main stage screen looking out at the auditorium, a simulation of the view from the REX tower, a private screening room office, a projection booth with various types of tech, a green screen room, a voice over recording room, and a special effects room.
