I don't understand how Fyfe rents as cheaply as they do considering their prime location - on the corner of Woodward and Adams, smack across the street from Comerica Park, and above the Dirty Trick bar (formerly Hard Luck, and before that it was Proof). The windows overlook woodward giving residents the best bird's eye view for the Thanksgiving Day parade. not to mention being in the center of it all for all Tigers games, concerts, opening day, and other downtown events.
I haven't lived here personally but had a close friend who was moving in here and was along for every step of the way. The management is a very nice woman who is terrible at answering and returning phone calls. Whenever you call the number for Fyfe management you WILL get voicemail. If you're lucky she will call you back soon, otherwise your call will go unreturned for days. She originally gave him an estimate of 1-2 weeks before the unit would be ready to move in - it ended up being 6. And despite all this hold up he was still having to blow up HER phone to get ahold of her and find out anything that was going on. There was always some sort of delay - it wasn't cleaned, they found a plumbing problem, a special part had to be ordered to fix it, the maintenance guy was off because of St. Patrick's day (what?! does he take off for Al Gore's birthday, too?) When he COULD get ahold of her she always had some kind of news and was apologetic but my question is, why was she not the proactive one in calling and letting him know? Especially when she had his signed lease and deposit money in hand. AND she told him that his unit was the only one left in the building - meaning she had no other new tenants to worry about moving in besides him. and it STILL took a month delay with poor communication? Unexcusable.
But once he finally got in there, when he needed maintenance to address something, they were Johnny On the Spot about it. The entrance and hallways don't look like much but the units themselves are good for the price, and like I said, you cannot beat the location. Great place all around once you get in - but it's the run around gettin in that's the hard part. ;) read more
