Coming down Kedron Brook Road, the store is located on the cusp, a virtual roll, from the heart of Wilson Village. It's clear that ethos of this independent bike store is something the staff believes in. Inside the experience is testament to standing out and above the competition. Everything, from the service centre to the luster of the floorboards demonstrates that the products sold here are of the highest quality and craftsmanship. With individual frames and wheels handcrafted from places like Germany and Italy its safe to assume that Velo Bicycles sell high end products. One bike I found retailed for almost $9000 dollars. Upon this discovery, the very helpful manager, Warren, led me to some cheaper rides valued at $899. As Warren informed me (and I may be paraphrasing him a little), the stock in store may be a bit on the excusive side, but the quality, longevity and riding experience of a bike bought from Velo is second to none. In addition to Velo's love for quality road bikes, the store is into cultivating the local riding population by encouraging group rids on weekends where fellow enthusiasts can muse and cruise together. Gear has some of the most badass two-wheelers I've seen, and from seriously cool designers like Corratec, Cinneli and leader (to name a few.) My boyfriend is into cycling, although doesn't ride a fixed gear, and loves Gear for its cycling accessories. Whilst the trend amongst hard-core regular cyclists is lycra all the way, "fixies" as they call them, have a trend of their own, much more street cool. With their swirly bicycle logo, Gear does a great t-shirt for $29.95. My boyfriend has a black one with white logo and it's lasted him ages. I recently bought him some socks from there, which cost a whopping $20 (apparently there's something special about cycling socks) and he loves them. Made from a slightly lycra-ish fabric that's supposed breath well, they're also supposed to be ultra-durable. The ones from Gear also come with their little logo on it. This tiny little store is packed with things--clothing, helmets, frames, pedals, seats--literally, the walls are covered with stuff. So if you're a bike enthusiast of any kind, you're bound to find something of interest in there.
