How can Furniture village have 4 stars here and one star everywhere else? My Dune Sofa now qualifies as my worst purchase ever and the subsequent customer service has been even worse . The sofas look great in store but god help you if you dare to sit on them ....they just turn into a total mess , mine looks at least ten years old after a month of use. Normally if you were dealing with someone decent this would be easy to resolve but not these cowboys ...email and complain and they will reply by saying what a shame it is that you are not happy with your sofa but that's about all you will get from them. My first review as a resident of the city of Chicago goes to Furniture Village. These guys are amazing: and mainly because they prevented me from sleeping on the floor my first few nights in Chicago. [1] The online catalog is extremely helpful when considering options and except for my sofa and a few odds and ends, everything was in stock. The furniture is of better quality than what you would purchase at Target and Ikea, but it is still affordable for those of us who are students. Delivery is free, which is a HUGE plus. Oh, and they arrive when they say they will. (How many times have you heard "Thursday at 1pm" and don't have the guys show up until 5?) And coming from someone who purchased ALL of her furniture from FV, I am extremely happy with the customer service, prompt delivery time, and selection of furniture available to make my apartment feel more like home. Chicago furniture shoppers: This is your place. A big step up from the do-it-yourself and Ikea junk, and not the luxury level. But if you are going for that mid-level of quality pieces, you can't beat Furniture Village. I looked around Chicago, and Furniture Village beat other places by a nose on listed prices, but add the outside-of-the-city sales tax and free delivery, and FV is miles ahead. I dare you to find better all-in pricing on Ashley furniture. You will also feel good about supporting a family business. I ordered a king bed frame, with 2 nightstands and a box spring -- sight unseen -- and it was delivered exactly when promised and looks great. All for $800. Unbelievable -- I was expecting to spend at least 50% more. I followed up with a trip to the showroom (it's out of the way) and purchased a sectional and pull-out also. Even if you can't make the trip, you should feel comfortable buying furniture off their catalogue or website. FV won't steer you wrong. Any complaints? Well, the showroom is hard to get to. Also, the website isn't perfect, lacking some details for some products. But these are really minor issues. I have been extremely happy with FV, and if I should need furniture again in Chicago will go here first. read more

I was in the market for a new mattress. On a budget and looking for the most bang for my buck, a few clicks of the mouse and Furniture Village appeared on my radar. The salesman was personable and not pushy. I was especially pleased with the no-restocking fee guarantee had I not been satisfied with the mattress upon delivery to the store. These beautiful people have rocked my world. First, I'd like to preface this review with what may seem like a string of rambling complaints about other places, but are meant to convey the impression that I have been there, done that, and got the post card when it comes to furniture shopping. I, like a lot of people, have committed the grievous offense of having a job but not a car. This means getting furniture into my apartment has been quite the ordeal and a major pain in my backside. Between wandering into local stores who wanted something in the area of $100 to bring furniture into my home, and foolishly thinking I could circumvent such hassles by shopping online through retailers who apparently find it useful to ship large items such as furniture through major carriers, I at one point decided I would just live amid cardboard boxes for the rest of my life. I mean seriously, who ships furniture via UPS, who offers such convenient delivery windows as 8am-5pm? Terrific! Exactly when I'm at work! After eating dinner on my sofa for over a month, I threw up my hands, declared "Eff it!" and was willing to pay whatever exorbitant shipping/delivery fees required in order to get some actual stuff into my apartment. I looked and looked online for any place --online or in-store-- that would actually just bring the dang furniture to where I live, and not at hours meant for the unemployed or retired. Enter Furniture Village. Oh. Hell. Yes. I happened upon a table that I had been stalking for several weeks, and found it at a lower price than I'd found anywhere else. Trust me, after my tireless search for the perfect dining set, I knew exactly what they were running for, and more specifically, I knew exactly what *this* set was running for. Great - don't care what they're charging for delivery. They're going to arrange a time for delivery and bring it to my door unlike the lamewad major carriers, so I will pay them my hard-earned money. I almost literally squealed aloud with glee when I found that their delivery fee was zilch. Anything $100+ within a 30 mile radius of their store qualifies! On top of which, their delivery was fast! I ordered the same item from an online retailer previously (which had to be sent back because, of course, I was not home at 3pm when the jerks at UPS were attempting delivery), and the item didn't even leave the warehouse for nine days. I ordered from FV on a Monday (a holiday, no less) and had my furniture by Saturday. I ended up with a nice table for a great price, and didn't have to wait an eternity to receive it. They rock so hard it is not even funny. I plan on furnishing the rest of my place with them. Quality furniture, great prices, free and fast delivery. There's nothing not to love. UPDATE: My "plan" to continue ordering from them turned into action! I ended up buying a bunch more stuff from FV throughout the years. Some chairs, lamps, a dresser, and I can't remember what else. It's been a long time and I don't even live in Chicago anymore, but I wanted to update folks to let y'all know my review experience was not a fluke! Very happy customer. Like the previous post mentioned, the location of the store is a bit of a drive outside of the city so be prepared for a little drive. With that said, furniture village offered FREE delivery, which ended up being a huge bonus. The set that we chose looked nice in the picture (wasn't currently available on the floor) and I was even more pleased with the final result. The set looks GREAT in our condo! The service was good, and the salesman that we worked with was very personable :) The delivery was superb! Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were actually away from our home when the deliverers arrived :( However, thankfully our doorman was able to let them into our place and the deliverers set up the dining set in the area that we had intended. Worked out perfectly! The only minor complaint that I had with the buying process was that the price that was listed for the dining set that we wanted was actually incorrect. The guy at Furniture Village honored the lower posted price, however, because of this error, it left us no room for negotiation. All-in-all it was a great buying experience, and when in need to purchasing more furniture, we will definitely check out Furniture Village again. read more

We were line for new dining room furniture and after debating the Craigslist route and an exhausting internet search I stumbled upon Furniture Village. This place is well underrated! The website does not do the company justice as they have books that you can peruse and order from as well. I cam in after having seen an Ashley set that I was certaine I wanted but after talking with the ownder (I forget his name) I was encouraged to also look at the books. I then met with Nick and he gave me a chance to look at all the choices not on the website or in the store. I was told that Ashley is a good solid brand, but I may find something I liked more. Boy were they right! I brought a beautiful set that was just delivered today. I can't express how pleased I am with the quality and appearance of the set. it is absolutely gorgeous!! I am satisfied with the delivery guys who were profesional and courteous and set up the set in no time flat! I don't understand why this is considered a bit of a "drive" as it's just west of Halem on 63rd Street-not everything good is north of Madison! Nobody wants their furniture to break underneath them. That's why they should avoid Furniture Village. Their prices are low and their delivery men friendly, but the platform bed I bought from them fell apart more quickly than a celebrity marriage. Of course, the warranties my salesman spoke of while I was in the store didn't apply to my purchase. But no one disclosed that while I was shopping. Next time, I might just head to Ikea or Ashley furniture, which has surprisingly similar prices and a far better reputation. read more

Great service, awesome no credit-check furniture loan up to $1200, and my furniture looks beautiful. It's a little hike to the store from Aurora, where I live, but did I mention FREE delivery?!!? The delivery guys were great and set everything up for me and were willing to arrange furniture any way I asked, if I wanted. i ended up needing to change my order and my delivery date, and like everything else, it was done with no problem. they always have great sales and the staff bends over backward to get you what you need. Nice quality pieces for all tastes, for traditional to modern. if it's not on the floor, check the well designed website or their extensive catalogs. If I ever need furniture again, will mos def shop here again. They are talking about opening a store in or near Aurora, and I certainly hope they do! read more

I drove a ways to get there, and somehow got lost every single time I went back to make a payment, but that's just it: the fact that they still have layaway was awesome for me. I can't pick up furniture and put it together myself and the $59 set up and delivery fee was the cheapest I've found. I pretty much can't complain, my daughter is ecstatic about her new bedroom set, but I only gave them 3 stars because the delivery workers trampled mud through my hall and absolutely WREAKED of cigarette smoke. I mean it's got a blue collar edge for sure, so don't go there looking for West Elm or anything. But they work with what you got for sure. read more

So, we've been looking for furniture for the 2 weeks before this...went to a couple places, on Milwaukee Ave, one on Ashland, another on Elston Ave. Got some pretty hard-sell and the one over on Ashland just north of Division, was actually pretty rude. Was about to buy over at Continental but tripped over Furniture Village when I was doing another Internet search. A little off the beaten path but was actually easy to get to off I-55 exit. Got stuck in traffic on the way there on a Sunday, so arrived like 20 minutes before they were supposed to close. Ended up taking over an hour and never felt like we were being rushed or resented. Nick took care of us, when we were looking for something specific, he brought out the catalogs and pointed out some deals and made a few suggestions that turned out to be pretty good. Then he showed us some of the samples he had in stock for examples of the kind of back a sofa might have, or the type of material etc, and when the furniture was delivered, was spot on. We ended up with a full living room suite, sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman, rug, coffee table, 2 end tables, 2 lamps, all nice and all matching Also was prepared to put down some money, my credit isn't perfect, but he got us financed at an outside source and a decent rate. No money down was required. . Now as far as the furniture itself, they stock some inexpensive furniture and some nicer stuff. Ashley is a good brand, among others they offer and they have some nice things, including some packages. I had been shopping and seen a few of the specific pieces elsewhere, and Furniture Village had the best pricing. In some cases by over $250-300 lower here. Then, where usually you start to get complaints about a furniture store, is delivery or scheduling. We went on on Sunday, he said would try to get it to us by Fri-Sat, then we had a snowstorm and the factory did not deliver to them for a day, and they called me to let me know that the Friday they were shooting for would not make it, and rescheduled me for the next day, Sat between 11am- 2pm. 11:05am the truck pulled up. The delivery guys were polite, professional, carried everything up without damaging walls or furniture and also stripped the packaging, assembled the furniture, and carried all the plastic and boxes away with them. This was certainly the most painless furniture purchase I've ever made. I cannot recommend them more strongly than I have here, they were great! read more

I recommend doing business with Furniture Village. Great prices and great quality. I bought the Brando couch a year and a half ago, and I absolutely love it. I went with the couch and ottoman combo. It is big, comfortable, and durable. I even had to replace a cushion due to my cat, and they were very helpful. I hope to be able to update my review but currently Furniture Village gets one star! It all started when I was assured the delivery crew could take apart my new couch and bring it downstairs in two pieces, simple enough. Well the delivery crew gets here and takes the couch out of the wrapping and decide it would be too much of a hassle so they refuse to take it apart causing rips in the couch. Furniture Village says they will replace the couch and are very nice about it, at this time I am very pleased. The new couch shows up and the real problems start. The crew again refuses to take the couch apart, only this time the couch makes it to the basement without damage. Sadly our house took the damage this time, not only was our paint scratched off but the drywall was torn up on our entryway door frame as well as near the stairs. A picture was knocked off the wall damaging the picture and completely breaking the custom frame it was in. One of the men on the crew began yelling at my wife telling her this damage is no big deal and that she is drunk, while the other man on the crew agreed with my wife even taking video of the damage THEY CREATED! I then had the privilege of talking to Mike on the phone who accused me of lying about the damage. He then would not return any phone calls. Right now I just want my damages repaired, I don't feel I am being unreasonable. I would steer clear of Furniture Village the customer service is beyond ridiculous. UPDATE: I thought they would do the right thing, WRONG. Had to go to the store because Mike wouldn't call me back there he told me the only solution he could offer was for he himself to make repairs. I asked of his experience and to see if he was bonded (they already caused enough damage I wanted to be covered in case he made it worse) Mike then tells me he has seen people repair drywall! Oh yeah that's who I want to trust fixing my new house! Do yourself a favor AVOID FURNITURE VILLAGE! Simply the worst customer service I have EVER had! read more

After searching for furniture for 2 months I was running out of places to look at. I googled "Chicagoland Furniture Stores" and Furniture Village came up. I decided to look through their website and I automatically found a TV stand that I loved. I specifcally needed a 60" wide tv stand that was not low to the ground and didnt have any red cherry hue to it. They had exactly that so I clicked on it expecting a very high price tag and was surprised when it was way within budget and real wood! Then it see it has matching end tables and a console table... literally everything I needed! Dug a little deeper to find out the end tables are round... which I needed! Amazing! So I called my mom and we went the next day. The store from the outside looks like its probably tiny... not the case. I was surprised by its size! They have enough pieces in store to find what you want. It is 2 floors by the way so dont miss the upstairs! We walk in the store and my mom even finds 2 couches shes been looking for! So needless to say they made sales from both of us :) I ordered it all on a Thursday, and by Wednesday of next week the delivery guys showed up at my house. I was told they would probably have to build some of the items at my house, which I did not mind, but was overly excited to find out it had already been built prior to delivering it! They were in and out! Such nice guys! So careful with everything. I had nothing but a great experience with Furniture Village, Agnes was great in store and on the phone, the prices are unbeatable, and all my furniture is even by Ashley Furniture. They accommodated my visits, delivery instructions and choice of furniture. The furniture was also well priced - value for money. They matched another store price. We ordered a bedroom set....headboard came in cracked...After 3 attempts of delivery......we finally got one that wasnt damaged. The main dresser of the bedroom set was also damaged...but in a back corner that wasnt visible, so we gave it the blind eye. We ordered a coffee table....again..twice came in damaged... They receive & sell their furniture cheap because they are defects. The customer service is horrible!! This is truely the definition of you get what you pay for. We learned the hard way. The current owner use to service pinball machines, than when that went under he opened up a furniture store????? How you go from servicing pinball machines to selling damaged furniture is beyond me. Do yourself a favor...spend a few extra dollars & get a quality product from an accredited furniture store. This is nothing more than a waste of time & money. read more

I had a bad experience with this company the chair and table set I bought immediately broke down and after repeatedly talking with Agnes she assured me that they would come out and fix all 4 chairs, which they did and they broke again hours later the wood is of very poor quality. I bought a bed from them over 3 years ago, which turned out to be faulty. They sent an engineer who changed the topper which had absolutely nothing to do with the faulty bed! After months of complaining they send out another engineer who said the bed was faulty and the topper had nothing to do with it. They said they couldn't supply me the bed i ordered but would send me one that was one level below, to which i was dissatisfied with but was then offered in writing that if i did not like that bed they would exchange it for the next level up. So not wanting to cause a fuss i accepted (BIG MISTAKE) as soon as i got the bed i could tell it was sub par but gave it a month as requested, when i complained that i didnt like the bed i was told that the case was now closed because i had already accepted delivery of a replacement. After they realised i had written proof of their promise they agreed to change the bed, but they would only change HALF of the divan bed and the fabric i had was discontinued so i would have a mismatched bed which i STILL ACCEPTED just to get the bed i paid for. This took over 5 months and still no bed, when they were finally ready to send me a new bed they told me they no longer stock that bed. I was told by the customer relations manager that it was not their fault and not their problem. SO after all that the customer relations manager offered to TAKE MY BED AWAY and give me £1500 refund. THE BED COST ME £4000 and that was 3 years ago, to buy the same bed now it would cost £5000. After complaining again that they again went back on their promise i was antagonised and made to feel like i was some cheap skate trying to get something for free by the customer relations manager. And then pushed and antagonised to say something so she could end the call and refuse to speak to me (which is a trap i didnt fall into) read more
