You're going to get what you pay for here and what we wanted was an inexpensive but still nice looking table and chairs for our everyday dining (with teenager) in our kitchen nook. We went all over and found a really cool piece at RC Willey, and a really sharp and beautiful piece at Macy's, but we had to keep in mind - everyday dining with a teenager- we don't want to worry about scratches, or marks or placemats. This store is next to Ashley's and we said "why not try it" but we were very skeptical. Clyde met us as we were looking around (what a genuinely nice guy!), helped us out and didn't give us any pressure. Lo and behold, there sat a great table. Very inexpensive, no fabric and pretty sturdy. Not a forever table (but teenagers aren't forever either). We went back to Macy's one more time because the table there really was gorgeous but ended up back here getting this table. Now we'll be able to eat our quick meals without worrying about the table but it still gives us the overall look we like. And it has a 1 year guarantee at no charge. They actually have quite a bit of nicer stuff mixed in with one-offs. We saw some designer names throughout. It's worth stopping by - you never know... and the prices are LOW! read more

They slid my couch when I specifically asked them not to, which caused a long and deep gash to my brand new flooring. They also hit my door frame, chipping it. I would recommend Furniture Discounters to anyone I know looking for furniture at anytime. My boyfriend and I wandered into this store after first trying to go to Ashleys only to find they were closed - but Furniture Discounters was open! We were on a mission to find a second couch and coffee table for our new home. They have a very large assortment of couches, dining tables, coffee tables and beds. Even outdoor patio furniture which is awesome. You will also find bedroom sets (dressers, nightstand etc.,) they have a huge variety of material and types (leather, cloth etc.,) so whatever you are looking for you are most likely going to find. We were originally greeting by a very nice lady (I forget her name) who smiled and was eager to help and then later worked with Mani who has amazing customer service and only wants to make you happy. In the end we chose a couch and loveseat which came with the pillows as well as a great coffee table that included two small seats which fit underneath the piece. Mani was able to hold them for us for a week while we secured a truck with a 15% deposit. (They do deliver but my boyfriend and I prefer to self deliver). After a weeks time we went back to the store with our trucks and Mani finished up our purchase. He was very pleasant and professional and full of smiles - you can tell they genuinely care about you. As I started to look a lady came up and I told her what I was looking for and she just pointed to the other end of the warehouse and said over there by the mattresses and walked away talking on her phone. I went in to buy a loveseat and mattress. I wanted to buy locally. The loveseat was listed at 800.00 on sale for 600.00, it was on sale next door for 478.00. after purchasing it they did give me a 100.00 refund so I paid 500.00. As far as the mattress goes, I asked for a mattress for a reclining bed, they sold me one that was the wrong type. After waiting a week they did let me pick out the right kind and charged me 100 extra, they started out by wanting to charge me 150.00 extra. So I paid 500.00 for a mattress that sells for 312.99 next door to them. So much for wanting to buy local. This place is a rib off joint. I am 78 years old, so you would think I would know better. I live on S.S. so I do not have a lot of extra money. I could have used that extra 187.00 on something else I need. Also at the bottom of the receipt it says "all sales final, no refunds, no returns. When walking in it was like winter. The place did not seem to have heating. My son and I we a bit chilly. But we had jackets on continuing our journey. We were just looking around! The further I continued to walk in the building,it began to strongly smell like cigarette smoke. The people were welcoming to a point at the door. They asked if they can help me in a nice manner and when I said we are just looking to see if anything catches our eye. But of course I got the look. They sat down and began to talk amongst themselves. Looking a a few prices on items, I thought they were asking reasonable prices, now that's if the items were in new condition. Most of their product that I saw, was falling apart. There was a few items in the store that were brand new and wrapped in saran wrap. They were white dressers for kids with fabric wrapped on the dresser draws. read more

Where to begin, they took such good care of me and beat Ashley's prices by a huge margin. Then on top of that when my furniture arrived they did great job setting it up, was all wonderful!!! But then I realized I bought a bed frame that was slightly too small for me (I'm 6 foot 5 inches) so they found new bed rails, from a totally different bed set, that matched and fit and they brought them out and swapped them for me. Just an incredible group of people working for this small local business. If you want good quality at a great price with friendly, knowledgeable, and go way out of their way to make you happy, then these are the folks for you! This is a place I would never purchase again! We bought a king size mattress at the price of $600 which is not a really good deal. This mattress is supposed to be a hard mattress with 10year warranty. However, it only stayed in shape for 1 week, sank immediately in the 2nd week. We thought maybe because it was new, so we rotated it every week to see if it would be better. But that didn't do any help. The areas we slept on sank so much like two huge dents that made I & my husband both rolled to the middle of the bed. We had to sleep on one side of our body which was close to the middle of the bed to keep balance. I stayed on the right side of the bed and got pain on my left arm, my husband got pain on his right arm! It's hard to show in the photo because of the way the pillow top was made. We felt like sitting in the bed rather than sleeping in it. The mattress made all body weight to the butt that we had to use other muscles of the body to distributed the weight equally while sleeping. We got neck and lower back pains after a whole night sleep. What's more, this " organic cotton " pillow top got so hot even in the winter night that we had to keep rolling over and over again to keep away from sweating . That woke us up several time per night! The Mattress is definitely a fraud! We got better sleep in the hotel instead ! Anyway it was like a nightmare to purchase this mattress. When we called the store, no customer service at all! The manager blamed the bad quality on the manufacturer. When talking about quality they compare themselves with Walmart but when talking about customer service, they claimed no customer service because they were only a local business! So literally they were telling us because they were local business so they have higher cost of manufacture and lack of ability to provide customer service! What a ridiculous excuse! As a customer, my only fault was purchased in a local business store! Don't purchase there! You can get a much better price online or at Macy's with better quality! read more

Monnie was honest and friendly without following us around trying to make a sale like the guy did at Ashley Furniture moments before we came here. We ended up getting a black pine dresser for $199 and a black 4-chair table for $299. Both are heavy and just as good of quality as some of the things I've seen at RC Willey and other chain stores. Also, Lifestyle furniture for less on Plumb lane near Costco..same owner/staff. about 3 months ago, we got a NEW mattress from furniture discounters, the Manager RICK nicely loaded it into the back of my truck for me. When we got home and unloaded the mattress and brought it in the house, unwrapped it, there was a tag on it stating that is was previously owned, and professionally "cleaned". (of course at the bottom of the receipt says no refunds, exchanges or returns, item sold as is. My wife called and left a message at the store for Rick stating the problem, and seeking resolution. Rick nicely agreed to have us bring the mattress back and he did have a new one there we could exchange with, so we did. All the while and still on the hunt for living room furniture (after months of trying to find something we both liked and not wanting to return to furniture discounters for the run-around again, we found ourselves at Lifestyle furniture for less (on Plumb lane by MOR furniture), there we actually found a set that we liked, but we wanted a new one, not one that had been in the showroom for who knows how long, so ROBERT, the salesman there ordered us the set that we wanted, we opted to pick it up instead of paying the delivery charge, and he told us that the "warehouse" would call us when it came in, and that it would be 5-7 days, and he gave us the address of the "warehouse".......YEP YOU GUESSED IT FURNITURE DISCOUNTERS!!!!! We got the call, picked up the boxed up furniture, took it home, unloaded it into the house, opened the smallest piece first to assemble it.....and it was the wrong color, and the wrong material. Again seeing the same disclaimers on the receipt, my wife called and left messages at both places seeking resolution. Rick called back and told us to being it back, and they would order the correct furniture, so we did, and they ordered what was supposed to be the right furniture this time. We asked for free delivery this time to make up for their mistakes, and they agreed. About a week later we get a call from Rick saying that the furniture was in and they could deliver it this weekend, but there was no chair, and that the chair wasn't made anymore. Not wanting any part of more scams and excuses, we told him never mind just keep it and put the money back on my credit card. He said that the refund would have to be done at the same location as the original purchase and the same terminal. So a couple of weeks later when we got back to Reno again, we stopped to get the refund....the salesman at the store said that there was a special code needed to process the return, and he didnt have it, the only one who knew the code was the owner.....who was on vacation in Boston! At this point I was furious and called and filed a dispute with my credit card company, wrote a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and I'm giving you all the heads up!....Dont waist your time with these scammers! read more

So i am looking to change my furniture...its over due. I visit Ashley furniture on Moana, great selection and the sales person took the time to answer some questions and understood that i was just looking and price comparing. She spent about 20 mins and i said thanks I'm gonna check next door at furniture discounters. So i walk into the store wall about ten feet and I'm greeted by what i though wad an nice person. Asked how could he help i told him I'm looking to change my furniture. He was very excited:0) i thought he gave me the up and down but i thought it was just my imagination. He asked about my credit score, if i had any credit cards and if i had a job? This all before i even started looking...i answered in the affirm and started to walk away thinking. The Ashley sales person didn't ask me anything like this when she greeted me. The sales guy with all the questions started to follow me and asking if i had any questions on any of the product to please don't hesitate to ask. About 5 min into looking i saw something similar to what i saw at Ashley i turned to look for the sales person and there he was about 5 feet away giving me space to look. Awesome...right? I started to ask about the piece if it came in another color but before i could finish my question he darted off to greet another customer that walked through the doors. But i noticed that he didn't ask this lady any of the probing questions he greeted me with and never came back to me. But i did notice that out of all 3 customers in this joint i was the only one not being attended to...hmmm. I decided that this place was not where i wanted to spend my overtime pay. I felt dejected...its funny while I'm writing this in their parking lot that sales person decides to come out to apologize for not getting back to me"i wasn't ignoring you" if i wanted to come back inside we could go over any of the items i was interested in.....cya!! I went to the store after seeing a sofa that was purchased by a friend for a good price. We found a sofa that we liked and purchased it. We were told at the time of the purchase, by the saleswoman named Elane, that if we wanted to return the sofa the owners would refund our money, even though their policy is STORE CREDIT ONLY on returns. After arriving home we found the sofa for over $150 less on Ashley's website, and canceled the order in less than 24 hours. I contacted Furniture discounters and asked them to return my payment. They then told me the owner is the only person who can return a payment. After calling and waiting for over a week, I finally called and said I needed something done today. The "manager" said that they would need to charge 15% to restock. Restock? They never delivered anything. The furniture was already in stock in their onsite warehouse! These people are nice to you when you're in the store, but don't try to return anything, they will try to rob you. Elena and the manger both told me I was lying when I mentioned that Elena said we could return the product and receive our money back. If you do decide to go to these crooks, check online pricing before you buy. We got the same sofa for $270 less on Ashley's website if you include the free delivery. But, if you're interested in an informed opinion, DO NOT buy from these sleazy con-artists. read more

I just wandered into this furniture store's central Reno location, for the same strip mall zone had previously held an Ashley's store (that A store, months earlier, had had a massive pipe burst/flood and had tried unload a stained set of chests upon myself). I despised A's dishonesty - someone else got those chests and likely now got black mold! Furniture Discounters was several doors down from the former A store, and they are a breath of fresh air compared to A. Furniture Discounters has a second smaller store 7 miles north of the main Reno store - and its staff are equally honest and helpful. I bought from the main store only because it happen to have a slightly different stock of merchandise and I need to see and feel my choices. Originally I chose a lift-chair recliner from Elane and later chose more furniture from Clyde and Anna. Furniture Discounters patiently held my lift-chair in its stock area some 14 or 15 months as I cleared home debris, made from a burglary/vandal. I then chose from Clyde, 3 sturdy fine wood chests (metal glides) that fit my challenged needs, and Clyde patiently held those chests and a table yet another 4 months, for me. The A store would not have had that patience for someone like myself who can only work slowly. Today was my delivery day, and my FD delivery staff set my purchases in their exact planned placements, and even went an extra step to correct a poorly repaired corral gate that paid contractors had never corrected properly; I did not have to ask - they saw me strain to open the corral gate, of my home. I did not expect this helpful act, and it shows how ALL of the Furniture Discounters' team has its customers' interests at heart. I will enjoy my plush lift-chair tonight. Rick answered their FD phone for me at 6:55 PM when their store closes at 7 PM. Tomorrow I got physical rehab therapy, and a good story to tell to other folks like myself who are maintaining their independence. I will tell everyone to avoid the glossy stores where you get told what anyone can say, and tell all people to go to Furniture Discounters, where there is no "act" and the FD staff is genuine, real people. I got much ahead of me before I can buy more furniture, but Furniture Discounters is the only place to which I will go to shop. I wish I would have reviewed the reviews before shopping there. We were looking for an inexpensive pair of bar stools and found what we were looking for. They had to order them and Elane Cremo, our salesperson, said it would only take 1-2 weeks for delivery. When we signed the receipt, we were told that it would take 3-4 weeks for delivery. Since we were not in any rush, we went ahead with the purchase. We paid for them on 3-15, and today is 4-21. We still do not know where the stools are, and Ms. Cremo was less than helpful. In fact, she was darn right argumentative. She kept saying that it was only 21 days, and that the receipt said business days, not weeks! I told her to read her own receipt. I requested them to cancel the order and she out-right denied the request. Of course, she is on commission, so this would have affected her income. I have proceeded with trying to have my credit card company intervene and cancel the transaction. Bottom line, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SHYSTERS! read more

I agree that they are MUCH more friendlier than Ashley's Furniture. The sales person was helpful. The loading dock was another story. I bought a trundle bed. TRUNDLE matters in this story. We got to the loading dock and were handed a bunch of boxes. I have to build the bed myself. I was told by the sales person that I was getting the floor model so it would take a few minutes to get the bed to the dock. I have bought a lot of furniture over the years and I have NEVER been handed a bunch of boxes and told to do it myself. I could have bought the bed online for half the price if I wanted to build it myself. I just picked my son up from the hospital so I was not going to argue with the loading dock people. Then my son says" where is the trundle". The dock person said you did not buy that piece. YES we did - that was the whole point of the purchase. They wanted me to sign that I received everything in good condition., I crossed it off and put condition unknown as I received a bunch of closed boxes. One dock person went to ask about the trundle. I asked about tying the boxes (I did not get the bed I paid for) down as I had to travel 90 miles with it. The second loading dock person threw some twine at me and said use this and shut the door. SO I had to tie down the load myself. As we were tying down the load the second dock worker came back and said you did not pay for the trundle (yes I did) but we are giving it to you anyways because you were told you did - this is your lucky day. Some how I do not feel lucky. They scratched the trundle between bring it from the show floor to the loading dock and I have to build the bed. How does that make me lucky? read more
