When you walk in you are greeted to a whole wall of shelves filled with books, tables of trinkets and cheery staff. There is a second room which again is filled with more stuff and then up the stairs is where all the furniture is kept tables, sofas, chairs! For people who have larger items to donate they have a van which can pick up items in the Stornoway area. They are open Monday to Friday 10 4pm last time I checked. It's the place to go for people looking for bargains, you are bound to find some gem in this shop!

My favourite charity shop by far!…read more Due to it being completely overcrowded and some items being there for quite some time there's a rather random smell when you go it but you get used to it and it's well worth putting up with A paperback book is just 40p and you quite often pick up some random and obscure items for a great price. They sell everything apart from clothes - Small household and bedding items, to suitcases and breadmakers up to larger items of furniture and electrical equipment. Nearly all the staff are voluntary (apart from the shop manageress) and are really friendly and chatty. Open Monday to Saturday until 5 most days (not sure about Saturday) For larger items and Household clearances they provide a free collection service, days and times for areas depend on where the van is bound for at the time. Donations are always welcome. Proceeds from this charity shop stay locally and go towards the Bethesda Nursing Home and Hospice which is a great local cause and in constant need of funds as the Hospice is only 50% funded.

Having recently carpeted our new office with carpet from carpet world I can't recommend them…read moreenough! Their shop is a bit tricky to get to as the back road of Stornoway can be like a maze but you will not be disappointed should you go. They have a huge range of carpets available in every colour you can think of. So regardless of what you are carpeting you are bound to find something suitable. They come to fit the carpet at a time and day that suits you and do a fantastic job. The guys who fitted ours were really nice and did the job well. I would highly recommend them!

Willow Glen is primarily a garden centre but also offers more than that! It is located on the edge…read moreof town, maybe a 10 or 15 minute walk from the centre. It is next to the big co-op. I really like this centre, they sell pretty much anything you will need for your garden! I've found their compost to be the best value and highest quality! They also sell a large range of food for all pets from dogs to birds! They are one of the few, if not the only place to sell foods for dogs who have allergies! The centre itself is fairly big with plenty parking outside. The staff are friendly and helpful and will take heavy bags to your car for you. This is the place I would recommend for anyone looking with a passion for gardening!

The shop itself stocks a large variety of plants, ornaments, pots and all the associated garden supplies. open all year Mon-Sat 9am-6pm they also supply a fantastic range of pet goods, which is especially great since the Pet Shop in town has shut. They also do flogas lpg and run mail order for the Highlands & Islands as well as the rest of Scotland. Lots more info on their website, but it's definately worth visiting the shop itself for top quality goods at a reasonable price with top notch service.

The shop is small but you are bound to find what you need here. They offer the usual kinds of paints gloss, matt, emulsion etc by different makers. The best thing about them is if you are after a particular colour you just need an example of what you want it to look like and they have a machine which matches the colour as closely as possible. This came in very hand when redecorating recently. The staff are very helpful in finding you the right paint and their prices are reasonable.

The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and prices are reasonable. They also have a paint mixing machine so can provide dulux samples from paint chips in a matter of minutes, along with larger orders or matching paint to your own spec, really helpful! Highly recommended.
