She had made and paid for her final arrangements so we didn't have to worry about them. When the time came, we called Swan Burial and Cremation. They took care of everything, which was a godsend during our grief. Mom had arranged for cremation. Her ashes were returned to us and an extremely difficult time was made much easier. The owner who met with us was gentle and compassionate, exactly what we needed. Although we are not planning on leaving anytime soon, my husband and I discussed making our arrangements ahead of time, to spare our daughter from having to make those decisions. Mr. Douglas came to the house to discuss what we wanted. A very nice man, Doug explained what services were available, including viewing, a service, a funeral, or cremation. He quoted the prices, which we felt were fair, and made our decisions. He completed the necessary paperwork and we were done. We learned is that the money paid in advance is held as a life insurance policy by an independent insurance company. Final arrangement are secured at today's prices. Also, the policy guarantees that the contracted services will be provided even if the funeral home is no longer in business.

With about a 14 month illness proceeding I forced myself to try and plan a bit. I read all the funeral home Yelp reviews and looked at their respective websites. Considering things such as location and reviews I settled upon using Desert Sunset. We made no advance notification to them. What I did learn is that several of the funeral homes around Tucson are owed by the same company operating under different names, but probably have different management at each. I never got into who owned who. The first thing that I noticed is that the price of cremation was prominently displayed on their website. No other website that I reviewed had it publicly listed and all others said 'Call'. Now, it didn't mention that state law required you also provide or purchase a box for the cremation and that made the overall price go up - it wasn't a big deal. When my wife passed the hospice nurse made the notification to the funeral home. Within minutes the driver/attendant (I don't know the proper title) called saying he was about 15 minutes away. I told him that was too quick and gave him timing that would work for us. It was no problem. When he came he was very professional and caring. He did one of the best jobs with handling our loved one that I ever had seen (I worked in fire/ambulance for over 30 years). The next week I went into the funeral home to make final arrangements. The staff was professional and caring. Explaining everything that we needed to understand as well as steps we should be taking as a family now. There was no hard sell on anything. During our visit we asked if we could get a couple of locks of hair. They facilitated the request and we had the locks within a week. We didn't utilize the services of an onsite funeral or memorial since we were already planning that off-site. However, the facility looked nice and appropriate and I wouldn't hesitate holding a service there. Cremation takes a bit of time (about 2 weeks or so). There is an option if you need the remains sooner. When the remains are ready you schedule an appointment (same day is OK) to come in. They have the remains in a large 'quiet room' that family can come in and spend as much time needed with their love one before taking them home. I didn't know this was how it was done, so I came alone and didn't need to use the facility. They remain in contact long after services are performed. They asked if I wanted to be added to get an occasional email on things you should think about doing to settle estate-type issues, etc, and asked if I wanted an occasional text with support. They are automated, but if you respond a live human responds back with assistance. I have truly been impressed with the caring, compassion, professionalism of this funeral home. If you are reading this review with an immediate or pending death, I am truly sorry. I wish you the best. Please know that these folks are good and I would never hesitate (hopefully never have to) use thier services again.

Joseph made sure that all items were discussed and that my Dad was taken care of and arrived safely in New York. The lobby and rooms at Brings are very tastefully decorated with a quiet/calming vibe. The prices are reasonable and the staff helpful. Particularly when I was getting a little anxious about getting the death certificates which are provided by the county. They called me the moment they were in so I could pick them up. I understand the loss of a loved one can be so stressful, so I took that into consideration when looking at past reviews.

My father passed away and I'd never handled any tasks previously for someone who had passed. I went to Marana Mortuary and Cemetery to look around and try to get info on their services. Jim greeted us with great compassion and shared the process and provided information about their services without any trace of a sales pitch. He approached it in an informative fashion, sharing necessary steps along with the offerings provided by their business. Letting us know the options and how things work. My father is not being laid to rest at this location, but we utilized their cremation services and their chapel for the celebration of life. The room is set up perfectly for memorials/funerals, and was arranged for our specific needs without any hassle. The day of the gathering was handled so well by their staff. I cannot say enough positive things about Jim, Amanda and Maria. They set everything up so well and were a huge help in pulling the day off without a hitch. They were so accommodating in allowing us to have the room set up to have the type of seating, tables, space for food, and displays we envisioned. The day was a beautiful send off for my father in a rather emotional time. All the guests made positive comments about the setting. One last thing is that Jim offered to get the veterans flag for us so we didn't have to go do it ourselves. He just wanted us to not have to worry about one more thing. I'd received a list of mortuaries from the Medical Examiner's office and had picked Carrillo's because it was convenient to the hotel I was staying. I made an appointment with April and met with her. As we discussed the options, I started becoming a little concerned about the costs. This was mostly because there weren't going to be any viewings or other full-service requirements. I just needed a quick and simple cremation and a death certificate to be able to wind up my brother's affairs. I shared this with April. I asked her straight up whether there were any more affordable options given that I needed a minimum of services. She was very frank and let me know that Carrillo's was about the middle of the pack pricewise for what I needed. I thanked her and asked if I could make a couple of calls. I was flabbergasted when she not only wrote out a list of who she knew was more affordable, but she also started calling them on my behalf. She got me a quote that was significantly less and tailored to just what I needed. I'm so grateful for her help in reducing my level of stress, saving me money, and more importantly saving me an enormous amount of time. That level of customer care for someone who isn't even a customer speaks volumes. It speaks of her and her team's compassion for and empathy with those who have suffered a great loss.
