Functional Ergonomics is an organization who evaluates people for a company that is hiring said person. When you first enter their office which is located inside of the Brown Armstrong building all you see is 10 chairs and the front desk, you will also notice a room separator that provides privacy to the people performing the required tests requested by the hiring company. You are either approached by a well-dressed man or a lady dressed in scrubs, both play equal parts in the testing process.
I recently visited and had paperwork which I provided as soon as I was greeted, then had to fill out a little more paperwork for my personal file with this organization. There was a few people in the back running their tests, the wait to be called was not bad, possibly 15 minutes, now of course that varies on how busy they are.
Once called I was taken into a room that is almost like being at a doctor's office, they take your blood pressure, heartbeat (which they take randomly throughout the tests also), have you go through some range of motion tests and then you are done and move onto the next phase. The next phase is like a gym, depending on what your position of hire requires you will do different tests. There are treadmills, ladders, stair climbers, dumbbells, crates, shelves, exercise bikes, ropes, almost like a training area. As I stated previously, they do monitor your heartbeat to ensure you are capable of the test being ran on you. Between tests you are offered water as well, as well as cool down periods between tests.
In my experience the staff were not super friendly but think about the service they are providing. They both were courteous but firm and they made conversation, just not the smiling and joking type, but again, the service they are providing is serious and pertains to your well-being and ability to perform the position for a company. read more
